to think that the choking risk is just a myth?

As in, "it's dangerous to put your baby/toddler to bed with a bottle/beaker as they might choke". Is it more dangerous than say a dummy? I have found one story on the web of a baby choking on a dummy, but can't find anything about the risk of choking on fluid.

(I have asked this on another thread but have had no response so I have put on my hard hat and am braving it here, please go easy on me )

aarrgghh FioFio - you got me again!!!

I was a bit by The Batty One trying to take credit for raising awareness (and a bit for Rhubarb and others who actually did all the legwork) but Spoof, you are right and I will politely decline to rise.

However, I've not yet been called bitchy or judgmental on MN, so I am going to wear it as a badge of honour (although I was only a bit-part contributor)!!!

"Did I say I was your mother! WELL ERM NO"

No, you didn't and I never said you did. The point was that unless you are my mother or my boss, you shouldn't presume you can tell me what to do.

I wasn't judging her parenting skills either and I haven't a bloody clue what "The OP might not have made it clear, but you would have to be a idiot to not know what she was meaning by it!" refers to.

FioFio - no it wouldn't.

First off, apologies if I was all over the place yesterday, I'm poorly and confused!

Lulamaam, your right I could of worded it better.

Rhubarb, you do derserve credit for bringing the risks to everyones attention.

So I put DS2 down, with his beaker of milk as usual, removed it when he was asleep, as usual. The replaced it with a non-spill beaker of water, only a third full. It was still a third full when we woke this morning, but he did sit up and drink it then.

Judge me as you like, but I really can't see that there is a considerable risk in doing this, and I am confident and the first hint of any coughing or spluttering I will be up and in his room.
