What is AuntieFlo??

OP, YAB slightly U, although it did slightly irritate me when I first joined MN. However, your horrendous spelling and punctuation are enough for a pedant like me to tar you as being U, regardless of your AIBU question!!

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 21/02/2010 14:07

Is this what being 19 year old is like nowadays?

Please someone tell me there is hope for my DCs (that's dear children btw..)

WidowWadman · 21/02/2010 14:10

YANBU. I avoid the "Dwhatever" abreviations where I can. And the day I called him "hubby" would the day he'd file for divorce and not unreasonably so.

OK, this thread is becoming funnier and funnier, like a spoof of teenage behaviour.

at Shineon.

Alambil · 21/02/2010 14:10

why what?

Goblinchild · 21/02/2010 14:10

why to be 19 again?
I miss the absolute certainty that I had back then, that I always knew what was best for me and the world in general. And lecturing my parents with confidence that they knew nothing.

My 19 year old is very different, much more steady and reasonable and mature. I worry about it sometimes.

Lulumama · 21/02/2010 14:11

how bizarre! like bursting into a group of people that are sitting around drinking tea and demanding they don't use slang because it does not suit them!

i remember being 19, I also thought i knew best

if i am referring to my daughter, typing DD is far quicker.

most fora have their own acronyms and abbreviations, it is not that heard to either adopt them yourself, or not. but telling people off is a bit much

and erm, also a bit much to be critical of acronyms and the education system when you make lots of spelling and punctuation mistakes is very funny ! and kind of undermines your point

MrsC2010 · 21/02/2010 14:11

Dude, seriously, before complaining about what we are teaching kids etc...please try SPELLING correctly! I find this double standard hugely ironic and very frustrating. Not to mention punctuating, why type 4 question marks when one is correct and will suffice?

And :p? Seriously.

TottWriter · 21/02/2010 14:11

Or what capitalisation is .

TBH, after hanging around for a bit, it's much easier to scan a thread and see 'DS, DD, DH/P' etc., than dit through long repetitions of the word 'daughter' or 'husband'. We all have children, and partners or ex partners, so typing out the words constantly is just unnecessary.

notwavingjustironing · 21/02/2010 14:12

it's just not FAIR

cligan · 21/02/2010 14:12

wot wud you rava me spel likd sum 0f da ieedeeot in ma aeeege gruups or wat?

yea i seriously think i am a vast improvement from some illiterate teens i know and have come accross. so i dont understands why all you lot can judge. as i just said, im not perfect but i mean kids now are far worse and yet you choose the one who is probably the better half of the scale to pick on.. hmm, im not mature?

I don't think anyone is deriding the youth of today (which is what you did in your OP)-but you can surely see the irony in complaining about poor standards of spelling with a post that is littered with spelling and grammatical errors. That's all - and you did ask AIBU?

For the record, the answer is yes.

And you can put your tongue back now.

cligan · 21/02/2010 14:16

i have a few pigs outback and i chop them up myself? do you? :P

MadameDefarge · 21/02/2010 14:16

er, welcome to a world where we don't actually give a toss about you, 19 or not. Feeling superior to your peers for no good reason, and being rude to others you assume are older than you will not get you very far in life, my dear.
