... AIBU to think Mumsnet is really AMAZING

My DD is in a hospital in London, in the middle of nowhere, with just DH for company and an infected foot, tied up to drips, and within hours of letting my mumsnet chums know, Mner Renderedspeechless arrives with a "MASSIVE bag of books and LOADS OF OTHER STUFF" (I am not quite sure of the details) AND an ipod charger.

DD is very sad to be in hospital so to be surrounded by books will cheer her up a LOT.

So big big BIG thanks to Renderedspeechless and also to others who offered help including Alexw and LazyJourno and lots of others - you are GREAT and Mumsnet is a fab community. Me and my family are very grateful indeed. XXX

(did you see how I ego-centrically sneaked my name into the subject there )

My dd2 had "Hand Foot and mouth" when she was - erm... under 2 anyway. She had little white blisters on the palms of her hands, soles of her feet and in her mouth. She had a sight temp for a day but other wise was OK. My Dh caught it from her - very odd apparently for adults to catch it from children said our GP - he was very tired, achey, and temp for 3 or 4 days but with hardly any blisters.
There was certainly no swelling on either of them.

It does sound like maybe a connection with the verucca stuff?!

Do hop they diagnose soon...

good luck for the scans tomorrow. Glad she is in good spirits. Not nice being prodded by doctors all the time!

mp - just saw this. Your poor DD. Hope they work out what it is and are able to treat it soon.

Monty100 · 17/02/2010 22:38

MP, I'm sorry about dd

Does dd need visitors? Is she in London again? If so, can you let me know where she is and will pop in and cheer her up?

bratnav · 17/02/2010 23:00

It's no fun being a medical mystery, especially for the parents/relatives. Docs always sound so thrilled to have a 'puzzle' to solve

Hope you get good news soon MP

Monty100 · 17/02/2010 23:13

That's if you'd like me to of course MP, I missed the first thread about dd.

I really hope it's good news very soon tho.

PurplePillow · 17/02/2010 23:18

Sorry to hear about your dd MP

If there is anything we can do just shout.

My dd has foot problems too (although not as bad as your dd), undiagnosed broken bone in her foot for at least 8-12 weeks and it if doesn't heal it's looking like an operation

BecauseImWorthIt · 17/02/2010 23:27

MP - haven't been here or on FB much recently (damn RL) so hadn't seen your news.

Thinking of you and keeping everything crossed that DD is sorted soon.

psychomum5 · 18/02/2010 00:18

oh MP

I am so sorry you also have a medical anomoly on your hands, (and you too bratnav, sympathy for you too)....tis the most pants feeling, and dreadfully frustrating, as well as making you a teensy bit cross at all these doctors that at times can act like gods, and then we come along and they suddenly revert to being human again and confused by our strange aflictions.....

I am now not so strange (well, still strange, but at least explained strange IYGWIM). I have seemed to develope yet another effing allergy, and one that I sadly won;t always be able to avoid due to my other serious allergies and serious unstable asthma.......I am now allergic to part of the treatment for both (yup, the steriods are what caused my stroke/MS type episode!). I am going to be at least another month in recovery, and as I cannot avoid steriods in the way that I can milk, each and every time I now get them, I am highly likely to have to go into hospital as the same thing will happen again.

On the bright side tho, I am not dying, and I don;t have a life-long illness (well, asthma and allergies are life long, but they are not in the same stance as MS for eg, IYGWIM). Plus, as soon as I am off all the current meds and speaking normally again, I can finally make a start on the 22 bottles of wine I seem to have accrued over the last few weeks from late xmas pressies, plus birhtday and get well pressies. I NEED to recover, just for that.

I sense a party coming on in fact.

anyhooooooo

I wish happy get well asap vibes to mini MP, and also to bratnavs DH, and doctors that can put puzzles together and figure out what is the problem.

or I might be forced to book House as our resident mumsnet doctor

BecauseImWorthIt · 18/02/2010 09:28

I'm only allowing MP access to House on a temporary basis, until miniMP has recovered. You, Psychomum, can get your thieving hands off him.

psychomum5 · 18/02/2010 09:38

BIWI, that is a tad uncalled for....

I am still recovering you know, I should get first dibs now and always......you are just plain mean calling my hands thieving.

Any news this morning MP?

How on earth did Hugh Laurie keep a straight face while posing for that photo???

Psycho - Hi! You are an anomaly aren't you? What a pain. But much better than MS though.

psychomum5 · 18/02/2010 10:40

lenin, I can have a guess, and my guess is a happy one

buda, yup, still a weirdo me but not a dying wierdo me anymore
