... AIBU to think Mumsnet is really AMAZING

My DD is in a hospital in London, in the middle of nowhere, with just DH for company and an infected foot, tied up to drips, and within hours of letting my mumsnet chums know, Mner Renderedspeechless arrives with a "MASSIVE bag of books and LOADS OF OTHER STUFF" (I am not quite sure of the details) AND an ipod charger.

DD is very sad to be in hospital so to be surrounded by books will cheer her up a LOT.

So big big BIG thanks to Renderedspeechless and also to others who offered help including Alexw and LazyJourno and lots of others - you are GREAT and Mumsnet is a fab community. Me and my family are very grateful indeed. XXX

(did you see how I ego-centrically sneaked my name into the subject there )

Ok, but if that changes and you do need something (because you've got enough on to be fair) just say.

I agree it sounds like you've done exactly the right thing getting her back to hospital.

Morningpaper I am sure all will be fine. Please try not to freak out too much (I know, I know - easier said than done) At least she is in the best possible place, and being looked after.

Freeze the chicken - she'll be back home soon enough

cluckyduck · 17/02/2010 14:34

By the way - which hospital were you in in London [nosey emoticon]

psychomum5 · 17/02/2010 17:14

oh MP, bloody horrid shock to have to be readmitted.

sending plus lots of get well vibes for mini-MP, and a hope that they figure it all out quickly. What a pants way to spend half-term.

please lets us know if there is anything (ANYTHING) you need, want, wish for (that is humanly possible by MNers that is), and I am certain you will be buried in anything you require.

more ......I know how frustrating it all is, and how wonderful this lot are.

Guttersnipe · 17/02/2010 17:46

Just caught up with this thread. Thanks for taking time to explain things for paranoid me MP.

I am sorry that your dd is back in hospital but I have huge (unfashionable) faith in the medical profession and I am sure she is in the best place and will receive the very best of care. Hope you are feeling less like shitting yourself.

TotalChaos · 17/02/2010 17:52

just seen this, sorry to hear your DD has been unwell, hope that they soon find the right abs to nuke this infection.

LIZS · 17/02/2010 17:56

Sorry she's not much better - fingers crossed she'll be home soon.

foxinsocks · 17/02/2010 18:22

sorry to hear that mp but glad she is closer to home. Hope that swab comes back soon and they find the right antib

renderedspeechless · 17/02/2010 18:36

so sorry to hear your dd is back in hosp mp. must be so awfully worrying for you. also have huge faith in medical profession, what with my ds being a paediatrician (sp) and after what my dd has been through recently.

thinking of you and best wishes to all your family.

bibbitybobbityhat · 17/02/2010 18:45

Oh, sorry to hear this MP. Cellulitis can be a bit of a bugger, it often takes a succession of antibiotics to knock it on the head. But am sure dd will be fine - my 78 year old mother and dh's 90 year old great aunt both got over cellulitis without too much bother last summer. Took a while, but they didn't have to stay in hospital once the infection had stopped spreading.

Oh baby I am sorry to hear this,

you make sure you GET some REST at some point pref when dd is sleeping.

And drink lots, and try not to worry...tricky illnesses are not always the most dangerous ones iyswim...they can just be tricky in a kind of annoyingly persistent way. They will knock it out I am SURE.

Lots of love MP and tiny girl xxxxx

OrmRenewed · 17/02/2010 20:36

Sorry to hear that MP. Hoping she's better very soon. Be kind to yourself. x

morningpaper · 17/02/2010 21:10

Hello,

Thanks all for good wishes.

Baby MP is SO perky in herself but her foot is yucky. It looks all rotten. Lots of swabs have been sent off - so far nothing is growing. The consultant today admitted that they really don't know what it is. He doubts all the previous disagnoses (celulitis and hand foot + mouth). He thinks it is something else but no idea what. IV antibiotics being pumped in. Scans tomorrow to see if the infection has reached the bone, if so they will need to operate to drain it.

It's weird because she is so full of life, and perky, and eating and drinking loads which is GREAT but then her foot looks awful. The other one is starting to look odd too - a strange rash.

The consultants and staff have been brilliant but I hate this feeling that it is more art than science.

Would you like to talk about it Lenin

foxinsocks · 17/02/2010 21:43

how bizarre - yes last thing you want her to be is a medical mystery

fingers crossed they come upon something. Have they looked at whether it might be some horrible reaction to the stuff that was sprayed on her foot/veruccas? (don't know why I'm asking, clearly they are the doctors and know far more!)

glad she is perky, must be reassuring x
