to think that Mumsnet is AMAZING (and here in morningpaper to tell you why)

... AIBU to think Mumsnet is really AMAZING

My DD is in a hospital in London, in the middle of nowhere, with just DH for company and an infected foot, tied up to drips, and within hours of letting my mumsnet chums know, Mner Renderedspeechless arrives with a "MASSIVE bag of books and LOADS OF OTHER STUFF" (I am not quite sure of the details) AND an ipod charger.

DD is very sad to be in hospital so to be surrounded by books will cheer her up a LOT.

So big big BIG thanks to Renderedspeechless and also to others who offered help including Alexw and LazyJourno and lots of others - you are GREAT and Mumsnet is a fab community. Me and my family are very grateful indeed. XXX

(did you see how I ego-centrically sneaked my name into the subject there )

serenity · 16/02/2010 09:25

Sorry to hear about your DD, MP. Hope she feels better soon

TheFoosa · 16/02/2010 09:29

best wishes to you all, hope dd makes a swift recovery

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 16/02/2010 09:41

Hope your DD is better soon. Mnet is ace.

morningpaper · 16/02/2010 16:10

DD and DH are home - back on the train. She is not well really but at least appears perky although a strange colour and clearly exhausted. She is going to the GP shortly to have her dressings changed and for more assessments.

renderedspeechless has given her so many things and clothes that she LOVES (a pair of jeans and a spotty top that she is refusing to take off). I knew MN was great but I am really just overwhelmed by your generosity and willingness to help out a 'stranger'. I know you don't want praise and attention but I promise to pay it forward. If anyone was cynical about Mumsnet or doubts the community here then just read this thread because this is what MN is about.

Am so grateful.

Aw, my cockles are well and truly warmed .

MmeLindt · 16/02/2010 16:15

Glad she is home MP.

paisleyleaf · 16/02/2010 16:16

How lovely to hear this after all the crap press we're getting for being bitchy and shallow.

EccentricaGallumbits · 16/02/2010 16:17

I'm very tired and had an emotional day and am now having a heartwarming little sob. I was also bereft last night when I thought you'd all gone and left me and MN was never coming back.

Glad to see poor DD is home. I had cellulitis in my foot last year - it was agony. Poor baby.

megonthemoon · 16/02/2010 16:19

Big smile on my face and tear in the corner of my eye How lovely of renderedspeechless! And glad your DD and DH are now home, mp

cocolepew · 16/02/2010 16:27

Glad they're home. Renderedspeechless, you're lovely .

MilaMae · 16/02/2010 16:31

Oh that's lovely .

PlainBellySneetch · 16/02/2010 16:31

Oh no MP! How awful for you all (but how wonderful MN is)

Poor old dd - dp had cellulitis in his foot last year and it was very painful. (It's onebat btw)

PuzzleRocks · 16/02/2010 16:34

How lovely.

Get well soon MP's daughter.

morningpaper · 16/02/2010 16:34

It is cellulitis but I would also put money on her having hand foot & mouth - will ask GP shortly - pissed off that this hasn't been noticed at a massive fecking teaching hospital but trying to control my rage as am a bit hysterical at the moment

Would love to shove this thread down JSP big gob (and that other bird from the ST).

Best wishes to little MP. Hope she mends soon!

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 16/02/2010 16:54

MN is a large forum with loads of active discussions, you can find examples of rudeness and spitefulness if that's what you are looking for / inciting.

My experience is that here you find genuine support and encouragement and real concern (if that's what you are looking for). And sometimes is it just very very funny...

My experience is overwhelmingly positive (but I tend to stay away from AIBU ).

Hope little MP is feeling better soon.

I blow raspberries at Times journos and Janet's faces.

SEE !!!!

there's bitching and swearing and opinions the world over.

MP, hope dd is well soon.

kitcat1977 · 16/02/2010 17:09

Poor mini MP. Hope she's well soon.

I agree about MN. Have read in the press and on antoher forum that it's bitchy, scary, middle class etc ... rubbish! There's infinitely more support than criticism, and anyway, I love to take in different points of view and the humour is priceless. I've also been surprised at how classless these boards are. Horray for Mumsnetters (esp. renderedspeechless)

LilRedWG · 16/02/2010 17:41

I'm so glad that you have them home MP. Hoping for aspeedy recovery for your DD.

Buda · 16/02/2010 17:48

SO pleased that they are home! And that MrMP didn't have to do any sexual favour thingies. He didn't did he???

I have been in tears of annoyance and frustration for the last 3 hours but now have a smile on my face and a happy tear in my eye. How lovely of RenderedSpeechless. MNers are FAB.

And I love that MP will 'pay it forward'. The world would generally be a nicer place if we all thought that way.

Hope miniMP feels better soon.

renderedspeechless · 16/02/2010 18:48

erm, hello ladies! mp, so so glad you dd is home now. have emailed you. just want to say 'twas bothing' honestly; how could i be so near to a fellow mnetter's dd in hosp and do nothing? actually have to also say that mini mp is just the cutest brightest little girl. through wincing and in obvious dscomfort she managed a broad smile, that showed me just how brave she is. best wishes to her and the mp family.

by the way, didnt expect or want special mentions, that not why i did it. can i just go back to being miss anonymous and reneredwho now please?

have to also mention my dp who felt greatly for mrmp and said that in the same position he'd have been 'hopeless and helpless' and supported me doing 'whatever it takes to put mini mp's mum a ease'. aaah!

PlainBellySneetch · 16/02/2010 19:05

Well done Rendered and MrRendered. V kind.

VictorHugo · 16/02/2010 19:19

Oh MP I didn't know little paperclip was poorly. I'm so sorry and hope she is well soon xxx
