To just not 'get the 'daily flying' lists which include things like "Had a shower.." ?

Firstly, yes, I know IABU, but seriously, can someone explain why people make these long lists of things which include "put the dishwasher on" or "ate breakfast" or "cleaned teeth" as if they are some kind of major achievements on a to-do list?

Surely these are just things you do automatically, as part of living, non?

Surely it takes as long to type these things down, as it does to do them?

So what's the point? Seems a sort of self-delusion of leading a busy, productive lifestyle?

Isn't it all a bit, well, meh?

I had never come across these list ideas before, well not in the "big wide world" and wasnt really aware of Flylady. I am now.

Nor have I ever suffered from depression, thankfully, though I know many people who have been crippled by it.

However, I write lists with all sorts of things on and do feel better for doing so.

Maybe not as fine a detail as "brush teeth" but I can see how in some circumtances that could be a major achievement for somebody and being able to tick it off is a much needed morale boost.

I get a great sense of achievement when I tick things off my list, such things as "pay Barclaycard", "buy dog food", "get dry cleaning". Sometimes I can think that I have acheived anything in a day and when somebody says "what did you do today" I think I didnt actually do anything. This proves that I did.

If putting something on a list helps somebody somewhere feel slightly better about themselves, depressed or just being organised, then that has to be a fabulous thing.
