...to think that a man who "doesn't drive" is not remotely sexy

I saw this on another thread (doesn't matter which) and didn't want to hijack it with my silly ramblings

but, I can't imagine being with a man who "doesn't drive" (disabilities notwithstanding)

just someone too lazy to learn, who would let their OH chauffeur them around

there is something very appealing (sexy) about a man who drives well

mind you, I have a thing about a well-shaped wrist on a man , and driving in short sleeves shows that off to perfection

am I showing my age here ?

BUT . . . he can drive!

I saw him on Top Gear.

GibbonInARibbon · 30/01/2010 21:49

Richard Hammond - to be fair would not matter what he drove would still be a massive no from me. [shudder]

expatinscotland · 30/01/2010 21:51

I dunno, Gibbon. He's pretty rich .

GibbonInARibbon · 30/01/2010 21:53

Anyfucker - Good to see one of your posts again, you make me laugh out loud

But I think I can beat that!! I sit opposite a man at work who is 39, lives at home with his parents, can't drive and his poor mother has to sit in her own living room so 'she doesn't disturb' the 'boys' TV watching, he sits with his father and his brother who also lives at home! He doesn't lift a finger to help, earns a good wage but still says he's skint ....... ewwww!! I find that a complete turn off!!

Don't have a strong opinion on ability to drive and whether it makes a man sexy or not - have never thought about it before. DH drives, but it is an A to B thing though not a petrol head thing. In fact he has no interest in cars thank god. I can't stand Top Gear and have told DH that him showing any interest in watching it would be grounds for divorce (he hates it too).

I went out with a guy once who picked me up in a sports car of some kind (don't know what) and he obviously thought it would impress and talked about it a lot. Never went out with him again. A real turn off for me.

I also have an irrational dislike of personalised plates, though would never mention this in real life as one of my best friends has one - her DH also has a sports car .

GibbonInARibbon · 30/01/2010 21:57

I draw the line at JC

have to scrub myself with bleach and wire wool for even veering towards that thought [vom]

staranise · 30/01/2010 21:59

Agree Chaos re. personalised plates.
A friend got given one by her husband saying 'Mummy'. Grounds for divorce I think.

EdgarAllenSnow · 30/01/2010 22:00

surely what would be best of all, would be a man who employs a chauffeur?

Yeah, but he's rich. And he can definitely drive!

The only thing is stopping dp learning to drive is money. He knows I get frustrated at being the only one who can drive in our whole family apart from my mum.

But he will be starting lessons when the weather gets better though

AnyFucker · 30/01/2010 22:36

money is another exception, sheepgomeep

goes without saying

Couldn't give a sparrow fart, if you ask me.

Tell what's really unsexy though..men who can't shift for themselves and expect to be catered to all the time like big babies

AnyFucker · 30/01/2010 22:51

janos...the OP was coming from that direction, tbh

the "turns me on" stuff was a side issue really

OP posts:
Janos · 30/01/2010 22:55

I thought that's probably what you were driving at AF

I'd be a great big hypocrite if I expected men to drive cos I can't drive myself!

I think this idea that we should have 'equal opportunities' sex appeal is bonkers.

If you only fancy men that drive, that's really your right. Sexy is in the eye of the beholder and can be utterly quirky or based around some tiny aspect of a personality. Some people are only turned on by amputees.

I don't get the people shouting at you and taking offence because their DH doesn't drive or whatever.

Oh no, you don't find their DH sexy. And they're upset?

MamaVoo · 31/01/2010 09:48

It's not the inability to drive so much as having to ferry them around and always be the driver on nights out that is unsexy.

I went out with someone who didn't drive and it was a right pain in the arse. Sometimes he had the audacity to criticise my driving and he would always moan about the music I played in the car. He didn't drink either and I think he liked the fact that me having to drive meant that I couldn't either. Actually, he was a complete wanker - I could have probably got past the not driving otherwise.

thedollshouse · 31/01/2010 10:02

I can't understand why anyone would choose not to learn to drive. I hated my driving lessons with a passion and found it really hard but its one of those things that you just have to get on with.

Everyone assumes I can't drive because I can't afford a car. I get really hacked off when people ask if this will be the year that I pluck up the courage to have lessons.

My non-driving husband is the best fuck I've ever had.
