Im so pissed off that not that my partner (who he has knowen for 3 years) got an invite to the stag do do but more that he did not even think to consider that I would be upset in any way.
I know this may sound a bit odd to some poeple thinking that a stag do is just for men but I have always been one of the lads or so I thought.
I have been very good friends with a group of lads since school. We chat about every thing, so why did no he not think to ask me if I would want to come?
It maybe a 'lads' night out but that has never stopped me from going out with them all before nor been a problem.
Just cus its a 'STAG do' I dont even get a second thought!!!
When I had PND I didnt not go to him because he was a bloke.... male or female it never mattered before?

Daisy is it possible that your mate's fiance might have objected to you being there? It's not easy to stay mates in the same way once someone is married is it? I'll make a sweeping statement here and say that most men/women friendships start off with one person fancying the other at SOME point.

ArcticFox · 18/01/2010 01:34

I think people are getting too hung up on this.

A hen night is just a night out/ weekend away with your girlfriends. You dont have to invite the wives/gf's of all your OH's friends, and it's not like you're dissing your male friends not to invite them.

Same goes for stag nights/weekends.

Ultimately, it's your hen/stag- you can have what you want. So can everyone else. A single sex event does have a different dynamic to a mixed event (not necessarily better, just different) and sometimes that is nice.

So..........after all that.........OP- YABU.

EcoMouse · 18/01/2010 02:27

"....I just wanted to be asked if i would like to have gone."

But you might have said 'yes' why would he risk it if he doesn't want you there.

Damn! Looks like I missed a good night inout

AnyFucker · 18/01/2010 08:10

why do I have vomit in my hair ?

why is my top ripped ?

why are my feet cut to pieces ?

where are my knickers ?

thanks for a good laugh daisy, perhaps you are one of the girls after all ?

GibbonInARibbon · 18/01/2010 08:22

I don't agree with the OP but bloody hell, some people have been vile on this thread.

Was there really any need to enjoy ripping her to shreds so much?

To the OP, sorry but YABU. 'Tis a stag do, no matter how good friends you are you should not expect to be invited.

AnyFucker · 18/01/2010 08:25

< holds hands up >

Hullygully · 18/01/2010 08:30

I'm with the OP. We are hardly still living in the 50s. I have been to "stag" dos with male friends and so have lots of women I know and vice versa. It's about going out with friends, surely, not some nonsense gender based throwback?

Hullygully · 18/01/2010 08:38

Have just skimmed the thread. Goodness. What a pleasant evening I missed. Desperate Housewives on glue.

GibbonInARibbon · 18/01/2010 08:40

I know Hully, have to say I was

PortBlacksand · 18/01/2010 08:42

Why did everyone assume she was an attention seeking desperate tart rather than just upset at not being invited by a mate?

FWIW i've been to two stag dos. And two girls went to DHs.

MN bullying at it's 'finest'...

Hullygully · 18/01/2010 08:44

Twas just a little bit horrid. And strange views being expressed re gender and behaviour etc. Felt like had popped back in time. Let us blame the Evostick.

StealthPolarBear · 18/01/2010 08:46

someone else made a good point tho, if women go on stag dos (&vice versa) then it ends up just being a huge party which is deliberately excluding the bride!

StealthPolarBear · 18/01/2010 08:47

reason enough to keep them single sex imo, otherwise just have a joint party

Hullygully · 18/01/2010 08:48

Only if neither has party has separate friends of the opposite gender. That is a different scenario.

Hullygully · 18/01/2010 08:49

Or, in English, Only if neither party has separate friends of the opposite gender etc

gtamom · 18/01/2010 08:49

YABU
I would be furious if a woman attended my husband to be'sall men stag.
Your dp has been invited to a men only event, are you afraid of what may be going on there or something? I know some stags have strippers and sex games. Is this the reason?
You could simply put a bug on him, and then you will know everything that occurs.

Really?

Can't he have women friends? Wouldn't it mean it was likely to be a rather more civilised evening without Strippers etc?

Hullygully · 18/01/2010 09:00

You go girl!

GibbonInARibbon · 18/01/2010 09:00

Honestly, I was really shocked and saddened when I read this thread.
