for a fortnight at Christmas and for them to have come back having gained a huge new Abercrombie & Fitch wardrobe and 4kgs apiece?

When I think about it, it is a sort of trolling - if you can be a troll with a truthful story (but I would find it hard to sustain an invented story) - because I know what reaction I'm trying to get... Playing with MN I suppose.

Not bored, just avoiding housework, kids out in the snow, and am using the laptop as a hot water bottle!!!!

slim22 · 07/01/2010 14:20

And try Nutella on the croissants....

TheBossofMe · 07/01/2010 14:21

OK, I'm going with two croissants, one plain, one with jam (that one's pudding, you see!).

Will report back in about 20 mins on whether or not I feel full and sick....

scaryteacher · 07/01/2010 14:21

Lemon curd is good Boss...but butter and jam are nice as well.

BrahmsThirdRacket · 07/01/2010 14:22

I have to say, if you want to get a thread going on AIBU you've either got to be very judgemental of someone or bring weight into it (particularly disapproving of overweight). You will get 200 replies minimum.

I started one, completely unaware, asking whether I was unreasonable to think Keira Knightley was actually really beautiful. Didn't look in until the next day, when there were 200 replies, and it had descended into an argument about eating disorders.

TheBossofMe · 07/01/2010 14:22

Ooooh - Nutella.....haven't jammed the pudding croissant yet so that could be an option (off to hunt down a jar of Nutella from the back of the cupboard)

Bonsoir · 07/01/2010 14:22

ComeOVeneer - I think I have answered your questions in my last post. Playing with MN! Rabble raising or something. Some posters are amazingly willing to let rip at others - it's as if it's some kind of release.

Am at home with ill DD, btw! Stuck indoors on a snowy day - like lots of you, probably!

Yuck at lemon curd with croissants. I am stuffing my face eating some yummy macaroons I made this morning!!!

Georgimama · 07/01/2010 14:23

Bonsoir I salute you, no one else on MN, not one other poster (even the cod in all her former glory) could have got a 850+ post thread going with a 30 word OP.

Are you researching for a book?

Bonsoir · 07/01/2010 14:25

Not a book...

"Some posters are amazingly willing to let rip at others - it's as if it's some kind of release."

Have you ever thought that that is because some people post in such a manner as to get others backs up in such a way it triggers them to respond thus?

SycamoretreeIsVile · 07/01/2010 14:26

The average weight gain of an adult over Christmas is 7lbs.

Granted, they aren't adults, but they are teens.

Add to that they were on holiday...and in Miami, and I am not sure 9lbs is as horrifying as you seem to think it is.

scaryteacher · 07/01/2010 14:26

I'll put lemon curd on scones/toast/bread, or just eat it off the spoon, I'm not fussy; but it has to be Tiptree or from the WI market my mil goes to. No other types are acceptable.

slim22 · 07/01/2010 14:26

And she kept her sophisticated cool. Hats off!

Bonsoir · 07/01/2010 14:30

ComeOVeneer - why do some posters lose their self-control (and actually seem to relish losing it) and why do others retain it, though, when provoked?

OP posts:
TheBossofMe · 07/01/2010 14:31

OK, no Nutella, so jam it is....

Feels very wrong to be having croissant for lunch, but like Anna, I'm snowed in an a tad bored, so, hey, let's go crazy!!!

ComeOveneer · 07/01/2010 14:32

Because they are human and some are able to shrug it off and others aren't. There is no rhyme nor reason to it. Everyone has their trigger points, and for some that is obviously people posting it a superior/condescending/smug manner.

belgo · 07/01/2010 14:32

TheBossofMe - I certainly cannot comment on the amount of time bonsoir spends on here!

Feierabend · 07/01/2010 14:32

How CAN you gain 7lbs in a few days? Seriously? Unless you are pregnant of course.

TheBossofMe · 07/01/2010 14:33

7lb weight gain is the average

Wow.

I will stop berating myself for having gained 2lb.

Might be more if I finish these croissants....

BadRomance · 07/01/2010 14:33

Why lose doesn't really work in the sentence.

fwiw I am sure anna isn't a fat woman on a council estate munching crisps. I think she does embellish her life somewhat though.

Mainly because she clearly knows how to dress well (see style and beauty)

violethill · 07/01/2010 14:33

Twas a good game though. I enjoyed playing the ex-wife!

Still, it's a good thing this is only an occasional indulgence for me (off work today due to snow). I'm too busy in my senior job usually to engage in such frivolity. (See what I did there Bonsoir?)

TheBossofMe · 07/01/2010 14:34

OK, one croissant down....

BrahmsThirdRacket · 07/01/2010 14:34

I don't understand why people (adults) put on so much weight over Christmas. I would never think it's OK to put on that much weight at any other time, so why should I because it's Christmas? It's so weird that it's practically de rigeur (get me, I'm being French), but then as soon as January comes everyone's supposed to 'resolve' to get rid of it. Why not just not put it on in the first place? V odd.
