to wonder why parents give their children food in supermarkets when it is not yet paid for?

Do you?

is your child so hungry that you have to grab a frnech stick, break bits off and feed it to them then present the empty packet at the checkout?

Are mums so disorganised that they cannot feed teir child before they shop?

Are they keen to feed (ha!) the "I want it now" mentality?

It really annoys me when I see this going on, asit means kids grow up not being able to wait one second from asking to being given.

I did that when my dc were toddlers very occasionally when I forgot their snack.

They don't seem to be turning out as 'me me me' people. Now they're older they understand to wait for the cafe.

I was smiling to myself about this thread in Sainsburys today.....as I handed my DD a box of grapes to munch on.....which were yet to be paid for

....she's a very nice little girl, I promise, not too controoling of her Mummy either

oliviasmama · 29/12/2009 16:51

oops...controlling even!

busymummy3 · 29/12/2009 17:16

I have never done this and I have 3 kids the youngest being 6 yrs old . I just think they should wait until they get home for lunch tea etc.
what looks even worse are kids wheeled around in buggies stuffing pasties, sausage rolls etc flakes of pastry all over themselves and their buggies while their parents are shopping in city centre shopping malls etc yuck!

YABU - especially if you are one of those people that expect toddlers to sit like angels and be quiet in the supermarket! My son can unfasten the belt and wants to be out running around. I think feeding a few snacks on the way round is no big issue compared to the screaming and climbing out of his seat he would do if I didn't. Afterall, I am paying for it at the end and I pay a fortune to the supermarket every week.

busymummy3 · 29/12/2009 17:23

but do they want to eat out of boredom or are they genuinely hungry?

brettgirl2 · 29/12/2009 18:26

So what if you have a runny nose and have no tissue with you? Is it better to open a box or wipe it on your sleeve?

CirrhosisByTheSea · 29/12/2009 19:10

perhaps you could go to the loo and use some tissue? Or would that be too much like trouble?!

oliviasmama · 29/12/2009 21:31

this is so funny
