To think that people who don't clear the snow off their cars before driving are ignorant and lazy?

Quite apart from the fact that you can't see their headlights or indicators, when you follow them great lumps of snow blow off their vehicle and land on your windscreen so you can't see either.

TWATS!!

I clean off what I can , but cant reach the roof of my car.

Meglet · 20/12/2009 21:44

yanbu. I spend ages doing mine, although never manage to get the roof perfect and never thought about it blowing off once I was down the road.

snigger · 20/12/2009 21:46

I try to, but the eight-year-old in me gets a secret thrill from driving down from hill where I live into the city where I work, and parking a foot of snow packed round the roofrack in the midst of a virginal unsnowed-upon car park.

I do resist the urge to use it to chuck snowballs at the security guards, mostly.

Mongolia · 20/12/2009 21:48

No, we are just cold.

(now, I DO remove the snow from the headlights and indicators)

I'm quite a short person, I can't actually reach the roof very well. But I do scrape the rest.

spicybingowings · 20/12/2009 21:48

yabu and perhaps you should leave a bigger gap between you and the car in front, then the snow wouldn't land on your windscreen...

NoahAndTheWhale · 20/12/2009 21:56

I do my best, using a broom to get it off the top of the car.

DidEinsteinsMum · 20/12/2009 22:13

actually it is technically illegal to fail to clear the snow off the roof of the car in the uk and a soft broom does the job nicely.

SantaWears2SnowShoes · 20/12/2009 22:20

yanbu
the amount of people we saw with this on friday was plain daft.

poinsettydawg · 20/12/2009 22:40

I have never had a lump of snow flying off a car and into my windscreen.

I do not share your rage and I find it unresaonable.

RubberDuck · 20/12/2009 22:52

Stop tailgating, problem solved

Mincepiedermama · 20/12/2009 22:56

YABU.

Clearly you are just jealous of people like me because you resent the fact you're so anal you have to clean every centimeter of snow off your car and I can breeze in and out of mine doing the bare minimum.

Safety issue my arse. This is pure jealousy.

sherby · 20/12/2009 22:56

lol at I do not share your rage

GypsyMoth · 20/12/2009 22:57

can't say i've noticed.....must be exclusive to your area!!

i don't clear off every last bit either....

IMoveTheStarsForChristmas · 20/12/2009 22:59

Don't drive. Problem solved.

cmt1375 · 20/12/2009 23:06

I agree with OP, although I am also concerned about the snow coming forward when I break and obsuring my vision, which is not safe.

WeThreeNinks · 20/12/2009 23:09

I saw a car at a huge busy roundabout on Friday which had snow completely covering the rear windscreen, the side lights and the numberplate (my Dad wanted to report him )

I don't drive but I would imagine that not being able to see out of the back is pretty dangerous. Loads of people were beeping because nobody on the roundabout had a clue what the car was going to do.

Why have you name changed?

If snow from the car in front is landing on yours you are too close.

smokinaces · 20/12/2009 23:26

YABU I dont class myself as lazy or ignorant and I didnt clean the roof of my car.

My house is on a green and my car is over 100ft away. Trying to get a 3yo and 1yo to the car without breaking a bone is hard enough. Trying to clear the windscreen and lights is job enough. I'll be darned if I am going to clean my roof off just to keep the guy up my arse happy. In fact, hopefully snow landing on his windscreen will tell him to get the hell away from my car.

sorry, got rather mad at some idiot following me up my arse today because I -god forbid- drove at only 5mph on the freaking ice rink that is my estate.

But, you are more than welcome to clean my roof anytime you like.

cornysxmasmuffmusic · 20/12/2009 23:32

OP needs to get a life.

Maleeka · 20/12/2009 23:33

I too am laughing at not sharing your rage

Tbh i am a lazy bastard and only cleared enough so that i could see through my front window and gave the back a quick scrape after letting my rear heater do its job.

Cant reach the roof cos i'm a short arse but tbh i have never had a load of snow fly into my windscreen from the car in front!
