Err yes YABU.

Presumably she's doing you a favour so if you get back and your children are alive, happy and well, where exactly is the problem? Very unreasonable and ungrateful

FiveGoMadInDorset · 12/12/2009 22:20

How do you know? I leave the computer for hours but still logged on to FB.

verytellytubby · 12/12/2009 22:21

YABU.

As long as they are alive, fed and watered when you get back what's the issue? Are you checking up on her?

poshwellies · 12/12/2009 22:23

You get time for Mumsnet then?

LetmethroughpleaseIamadoctor · 12/12/2009 22:24

Do you pay her? What is the arrangement? I need more so I can judge properly.

AvadventCalendar · 12/12/2009 22:28

Are they not in bed right now?

Rindercella · 12/12/2009 22:33

You have 3 under 2 and someone has been kind enough to look after them, and you're complaining about her using a computer while doing so?

jerin · 12/12/2009 22:37

yeh we pay her. I'm talking about over an hours worth of playing games and posting status's whilst my kids were due to be fed.
My eldest this morning was desperate for the computer and he normally ignores it - I'm friends with her so get to see what she's been doing - not really checking up. Of course I dont mind when they are in bed

So what?

Stop being so fucking ungrateful.

Jeez.

paisleyleaf · 12/12/2009 22:41

Your 2 year old was desperate for the computer?
Do you mean you think she was letting him play on it? That's not so bad then is it?

poshwellies · 12/12/2009 22:42

Hides thread

jerin · 12/12/2009 22:53

woooaahhhh..... sorry! Obviously she is a much better multi -tasker than I am and I am being a complete bitch. Just thought that with 3 under 3's she would find it hard to feed them/get them into bed etc whilst on the computer.
I'm not talking a one -off - I'm talking every day near enough as soon as we are out of the door she starts playing poker or the like...... I thought I was being fairly reasonable in thinking that as I pay her to look after my children she would put them before her need for facebook .

OP posts:
Fruitysunshine · 12/12/2009 22:56

So,now you know that she puts facebook first - what are you going to do about it?

Hulababy · 12/12/2009 22:58

Maybe it is time to look for a proper childminder or nursery instead?

SantasKinkyKnickers0nMaHead · 12/12/2009 23:01

Wishes people would stop drip feeding information!

You didnt say in your op that you pay her, or that she has them near enough every day.

I have 2 under 2, well, she is just over two now, but I can still fb/mn/whatever and make sure they are ok at the same time.

Perhaps you need to have a word with her about it if you're not happy. Or have a 'problem' with your internet connection perhaps?

jerin · 12/12/2009 23:04

Well it concerns me. Obviously when they are in bed I dont mind..... I dont mind when they are awake to a point but when she has been playing poker etc for well over an hour whilst I know they are awake and should be having dinner getting ready for bed I just wonder whats going on.
I know that you can stay logged in all day but not be using it but quite often the times that you've played games etc show up and I've seen that when she's home she spends all day on it (non of my business I know and I really have no critism of that0 but to appear to do exactly the same when she should be looking after my children does worry me.
I am looking for a new job so that I can work around them going to nursery and I will ask to reduce my hours in the meantime in the hope that we can share the childcare between DP and myself. Oh, and maybe unplug the internet!!

Well I don't get why you have her looking after your dc when you seem to have a dislike to her

juneybean · 13/12/2009 01:33

I'm confused is your eldest 2 or 3?

giraffespullthesleigh · 13/12/2009 01:50

Are you employing her officially - ie paying her tax and NI? Or if at her house is she a registered CM?

If not then you don't have much of a leg to stand on!

Now if she was smoking pot or downing bottles of booze while they were there, I'd be inclined to moan!

I'd be more concerned about all you Mums who think it's perfectly reasonable to mind three babies and be on Facebook for hours at the same time. Paid or not.

It's impossible unless they are asleep.
