to think that people claiming that BNP voters aren't racists are being disingenuous?

I don't get the argument "that these people aren't racist, but they vote just BNP".

For me, If you vote BNP, you are a racist. I know this is guilt by association but I think it's fair. What's more, making excuses for those who choose to support these hatemongers makes it more acceptable for them to do so.

I know I wouldn't vote for a party when I didn't know their policies and if I did, I'd feel pretty ashamed that I voted without bothering to find out. To be honest, anyone who votes for the BNP and claims that didn't realise they'd just cosied up to facists needs to give up voting for good.

Well DP I normally vote Green and am a member

But having a soxciety that is not full of fear is the most important thing IMO

So you will be glad to know that you have convinced me to return to labour votes, it's always been close anyway.

Thefore your vote and my vote efectively count themselves out don't they?

Sounds good enough to me.

VulpusinaWilfsuit · 23/10/2009 18:53

See Peachy that's what I'm hoping is the best outcome of this nonsense: that it mobilises the complacent to vote. I am not including you in that definition, but SO many people don't vote...

VulpusinaWilfsuit · 23/10/2009 18:54

custy

That is very apt.

daftpunk · 23/10/2009 18:56

If anyone wants to see how pathetic the BNP is in terms of women - then just watch the sky documentary called BNP wives. I'm sure it is on you tube and it will probably make most rational people feel sick.

Suzy Cass (and don't be fooled when she comes across as just a BNP suffering wife, she is a long term BNP activist) but anyhow she spoke of how she insisted on having a white midwife present during the birth of one of her children ...
presumably she got this care on the NHS.

She also argued that in order to restore racial purity white people should have more children, while a ?birth limit? should be imposed on non-white families.

The BNP are Racist, sexist, stupid and divisive.

I have no idea - if there is a woman out there that does vote BNP I would be interested as to why?

boolifooli · 23/10/2009 19:06

Part of the BNP manifesto concerns the un-doing of ALL laws concerning discrimination which one assumes would include sexual discrimination let alone racial. Do not be fooled. The BNP ARE white supremacists, nothing more.

bodycolder · 23/10/2009 19:40

It is obvious dp is unable to debate at a level which would enlighten us all.her answers are short simplified cliches interspersed with insults. This is the sort of person the BNP attracts so its not exactly the intelligentsia!I do wonder though if people that you encounter day to day know what they are dealing with and I hope to god you don't talk around your dcs like you do here.

nighbynight · 23/10/2009 19:46

I think BNP voters are mostly pretty thick, tbh, and dont really think stuff through.

BobbingForPeachys · 23/10/2009 19:49

I'm not even sure Dp does vote BNP (or will do) tbh, I just think she likes the buzz of a row...... if she truly hates as many groups as she has started up against then she must be very eaten up inside

smallorange · 23/10/2009 19:54

I think DP is an attention seeker in the extreme.

junglist1 · 23/10/2009 20:03

Not all racists think they're being racist. I've heard from someone I went to college with that walking through the gates was like "walking into Mecca". She has a black Godchild. Unfortunately she's also a trainee nurse. A trainee psychologist informed me she'd be voting BNP because there's too many immigrants about. Which showed how thick she is because my children are half Turkish, their Dad is Muslim. These people scare me more than any amount of immigrants coming in. I consider BNP supporters a threat to my children.

zebramummy · 23/10/2009 20:10

sorry i haven't read the thread - already too long - but i wanted to say that if you sort the list of bnp members by postcode, it becomes apparent that the clusters of bnp members do not fall in the urban areas with the highest migrant population. there are some clusters in areas where the locals may have never even seen a non-indigenous face nor ever will.
in my part of london (absolutely full of non-indigenous people) there were only two members (yes i did trawl through the whole list at the time it was leaked).

i think the rise of the bnp mirrors the screwing up of our education system - there were always drop-outs and dim people but never to the extent we see today. there were two potential BNP supporters in the audience on QTime yesterday - sarf lunnon types - (one said something along the lines of 'how come there is more unemployment and more immigrants?' as if he was making a lot of sense). based on what they say/sound like they are pretty much unemployable as soon as they open their mouths. the problem is that they know how to operate a mobile phone and load a DVD so they feel they are really clever and in the running for great careers were it not for the competition from immigrants; they are incapable of even picking fruit (not fit enough due to diet/ lifestyle/ inability to count if needed - most immigrants can though) - they want to lay the blame at anybody's door other than their own. BNP lets them do this.

funniest thing in the leaked bnp list was a druid from glastonbury - next to his details was a note saying 'member describes himself as a witch - potentially embarrasing if active' - says it all really

zebramummy · 23/10/2009 20:11

sorry 'immigrant population'

bodycolder · 23/10/2009 20:12

NG has admitted that his followers aren't the sharpest and it is something he hopes to change

MillyMollyMoo · 23/10/2009 20:18

Unfortunately there isn't an IQ test attached to the ballot papers and there are more people with an IQ of less than 100 than above it.
The mainstream parties need to recognise this and deal with it rather than allowing the BNP to be the answer to the white trash's preceived problems.

onagar · 23/10/2009 20:19

Just replying to the OP, but do you think that all Labour/Tory voters support all Labour/Tory policies? Most people vote for one issue. The Tories say we'll cut taxes or Labour say they will spend more on the NHS and people switch over (and back again when they realise it was all lies anyway). Doesn't mean much what any of them say. They make it up to get voters based on polls.

Actually I gather that a Tory just said that we should be reconsidering immigration so all the Tory voters are now racist 'by association'. How does that make you feel?

KimiTheThreadSlayingAxeKiller · 23/10/2009 20:21

I nthink the most sensible thing that was said last night was the chap in the audience who said that Griffin got voted in as a protest vote to shake up the mail partys who do not address the issues the voters are worried about, and immigration is an issue.

Although I think a lot of people who blame everything on the influx of people in to this country are a lot of the time pointing the finger in the wrong direction and we need to address the matter of the fast growing "feral class", I know some lovely polish friends who work really hard, contribute, pay tax etc I also know some born and bread British people who sit on their back side 24/7 waiting for the state to pick up the tab, so if we were going to start shipping anyone out of the good old UK I know who I would like to see go.

Also if Griffin wants a master race indigenous people he is knackered from the off set as the vikings/romans/celts and so on pout paid to that also If we all have to go back where we came from I think my mother might object to a 38 year old woman trying to squeeze back up her fanjo!

As my family history includes Romany/Irish/Italian I am very confused as to where I belong.

MillyMollyMoo · 23/10/2009 20:21

Gosh what dreadful spelling
Onagar I agree.

My spelling? Sorry dyslexic and spell check hates me

DS1 is 13 and has a 148 IQ but he can't vote yet .

I did have to giggle when NG said he was opposed to how Muslim women are treated.... this from a man who says rape does not exist.... oh hang on it must in Muslim circles as he made his point by saying a Muslim woman who has been raped would be stoned to death for adultery, or was that for eating cake???

Man reminds me of a toad TBH
