To HATE those fecking "My heart belongs to Grandma" t-shirts?

I love my ILs, I really do. But they arrived this weekend with a t-shirt which says "my heart belongs to grandma" on it for my DS (2). It's going straight in the charity shop bag. Who makes these monstrosities? His heart does not belong to grandma, thank you very much. If it belongs to anyone other than him, it belongs to me, thanks very much!

Jeez. Feel free to add your most hated slogan t-shirts on here too. Feel my pain!

I don't like anything with the word "Naughty" on - was given one recently in age 0-3months () saying 10% Naughty 90% Nice or something...

Though have seen a baby grow on Amazon saying "I'm cute, Mums cute, Dads lucky" which I think is amazing

PumpkinOnSourdough · 21/10/2009 13:01

My DDs love the David and Goliath T-shirts. DD1 has 'Come to the dark side...we have cookies' and a monster pic on it (she's 14 and it's very appropriate to her).
DD2 has ' If life hands you lemons...squirt them in people's eyes' which is a bit rude, so she only wears it around the house and she also has 'A monster ate my homework' which she wears whenever she can.

Some of the David & Goliath ones are really funny, but too insubordinate for my DDs (especially DD2 who needs no encouragement).

I object to the ones like 'Your boyfriend likes my blue eyes', such as sported by child we know aged 10 . Abercrombie and Fitch are chief culprits for these.

alana39 · 21/10/2009 13:14

YANBU I hate them but lots of them here have really made me laugh.

My MIL lives in the States and her best effort was one for a 6 months old boy that said "I am not your boyfriend". Puke.

Bambinoloveseggbirds · 21/10/2009 13:49

Everything my MiL has given me has gone in the never to be worn wardrobe, but that's mainly because she buys 100% polyester shite and I'm worried DS might start an electrical storm. Back on topic the "How cute am I" t-shirt and "matching" trousers which should have been white but were - obviously ex-display - off white, made me want to vom .

scrappydappydoo · 21/10/2009 14:09

I think it depends on the slogan - we have two bibs - one which says 'nobody puts baby in a corner' and 'I see BIG people'. DD2 also has a t-shirt which says 'I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, I want to speak to Grandma' All are fine imho - not too keen on princessy ones but can live with them. I hate any slogan which uses offensive language or innuendo - wrong for kids.

diddl · 21/10/2009 14:46

These people objecting to the "I love Grandma"-I assume the objection still holds if it was your mother who bought it,and not MIL?

(Sorry if already asked)

naturopath · 21/10/2009 14:47

my ds had a Guns n Roses t-shirt 6-12 months. I was v excited to receive it (it was a present), although I do detest logos usually. Sadly, it just didn't suit him. He looks much better in green and red stripes.

oldraver · 21/10/2009 14:58

overmydeadbody what ahve you done my finger is g=hovering over the 'buy' button

asdx2 we had the 0-naughty one. My older DS and DB used to shake their head and say "quicker than that"

MrsVik · 21/10/2009 15:34

We bought a pack of bibs from a well-known store which had days-of-the-week slogans on them. Tuesday has "On Tuesday I play with the elephant's" which really begs a question...

Generally I think cute slogans are fine - we have lots of babygros with embroidered animals and the words 'let's be friends' underneath them. I don't mind those at all.

I don't like the rude or age-inappropriate slogans though.

I have to say though, slogans on baby clothes can be bad, but not as bad as slogans on maternity tops! 'Baby on board' 'mummy in training' etc... puke-worthy!

hanaboo · 21/10/2009 15:57

just remembered of one i actually wore as a teenager... it said 'you are a naughty boy... now go to my room'! soooo ashamed now
also had one saying 'i'm multi talented, i can talk AND piss you off at the same time' (that one was probably appropriate aged about 15!)
it had slipped my mind that i even had these until now!

oldraver · 21/10/2009 16:01

Aww. I loved my 'does my bump look big in this' top

marenmj · 21/10/2009 16:20

'...6 months old boy that said "I am not your boyfriend". Puke.'

I kind of wish I had this one for 10-month-old DD. Two of my good friends had boys about 7-8 months before she was born and BOTH have said things along the lines of "ohh, what a sweet/cute/gorgeous girl, she can be Harry's girlfriend" Puke indeed. I would have liked to head that one off...

marenmj · 21/10/2009 16:24

Maternity tees, blech. Though, DH bought me a vest that had an envelope with a 'new message' indicator - I work in IT so the baby = new email was pretty funny. He reports they also had a twins version which indicated two new messages.

I only wore it a couple times though - it was never warm enough for vests.

I quite fancied one that said 'Loading'. Hm, maybe next time.

What I don't get is the ones being threatening about people touching you... does this really happen? No one EVER touched my belly unsolicited... perhaps I look mean

Littlepurpleprincess · 21/10/2009 16:25

I really dislike the ones that label small children as naughty.

BUT some are funny, if they are not offensive or inapropriate I see no problem (on children I mean, offensive on adult t-shirts doesn't bother me tbh)

I have one that says;

"Yummy, said Pooh, as Piglet turned on the spit..."

That is so funny. I know I don't have a very mature sense of humour.....

I do not like pre-teen ones that say things like 'attitude'. It's not nice.

It all depends on what they say really.

DP has one that says "Campers do it in the mud", bit cheeky but not really rude.

Horton · 21/10/2009 17:30

I also hate all the stereotyped princess and monster stuff so in that vein these have always made me laugh. Not slogans, though. I hate slogans.

Podrick · 21/10/2009 18:01

YANBU
At best naffola in the extreme
At worst child abuse

(but nobody could accuse me of being judgemental)

victoriascrumptious · 21/10/2009 19:19

This www.tshirthell.com/funny-shirts/daddys-lil-squirt/is the worst example I have found.

victoriascrumptious · 21/10/2009 19:21

Has to be said
"Yummy, said Pooh, as Piglet turned on the spit..."

is quite funny

salbysea · 21/10/2009 19:35

am I alone in loving this one?

victoria I clicked on that link and my pc went bonkers. I had to switch it off and start again. The tshirt kept multiplying all over my screen .

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 21/10/2009 20:23

my DD had a pink t-shirt from Sloth from Goonies on it, with "hey you guys" written on it. I loved it.

babyelvis · 21/10/2009 20:30

I cannot believe that t-shirt hell site.. What is that all about???!!!

'Hung like a five year old' was particularly revolting.

JeMenFous · 21/10/2009 20:42

Would you pay $20 for this?!?!

Some interesting t shirts here
