To be angry that DP fed the DC pizza for breakfast?

This morning. We'd run out of milk and bread (my fault, didn't get round to shopping yesterday) so he put a pizza in the oven for them instead.
He sees nothing terribly wrong with it ("it's just bread and tomato and cheese" says he) but my point it it's essentially junk food, laden with salt and fat. Not what a child needs to keep them going through a morning at school.
And we did have bread rolls in the freezer, which can be defrosted in a couple of minutes, and eggs in the fridge.
AIBU or is he?

Because you said you shouldn't be called a loon just because you care what your children eat for breakfast, when that's not the reason you were called a loon, and suggests that anyone who thinks you are don't actually care what their children eat for breakfast!

LyraSilvertongue · 14/10/2009 18:33

Flamingobingo, really, where did I say that? What are you pissed off about?

I had microchips for breakfast today. It was about 10 o'clock, I was starving, didn't fancy cereal, can't have toast and wanted something quick otherwise I would end up with nothing as I wanted to get on.

eyetunes · 14/10/2009 18:34

I am a total loon, my Dc have been known to eat a twix in the car for brekkie on the school run

LyraSilvertongue · 14/10/2009 18:34

I was responding to headlesswombat, not you. Why are you taking this so personally? Now you're the one acting like a loon.

That's a bit harsh headlesswombat. there's no need to resort to personal insults because I care what my children eat for breakfast.

Never mind - I've calmed down now. I'm sure you didn't mean that you think all of us who think pizza is ok don't care about what our children eat - just a badly worded post on your part, because that's what it felt like.

TheHeadlessWombat · 14/10/2009 18:38

Well you did say this 'there's no need to resort to personal insults because I care what my children eat for breakfast. ' That isn't why I called you a loon, because you're particular about what your children eat.

I called you a loon because you're getting so uptight about a breakfast that is little different from a roll with scrambled eggs.

They both consist of protein, carbs and fat, and the pizza has some lycopene and vitamins. You've been unable to explain, so far, why the protein and fat in the eggs is superior to the protein and fat in the cheese, and why the carbs in the rolls are superior to those in the pizza base.

ramonaquimby · 14/10/2009 18:38

ok girls, kiss and make up here.

lyra - it's not what you would have done, but it IS done. Maybe on a different night it would have been different answers - but hey ho

scottishmummy · 14/10/2009 18:39

hell know it's gone tits up when people cut and paste i said/you said/she said

you are all loons
that's it settled

TheHeadlessWombat · 14/10/2009 18:39

You put sugar in it? That's even worse than using instant porridge.

MrsMorgan · 14/10/2009 18:39

I think that maybe what you are really annoyed about is that your dc may reveal to someone that they had pizza for breakfast, and people will think less of you.

TheHeadlessWombat · 14/10/2009 18:41

I've never pretended to be sane SM.

scottishmummy · 14/10/2009 18:44

me neither.now what about cold chips and cheese my friend ate that for breakfast.after bringing it home munted, falling asleep and forgetting about it.til morning...polished off with broon sauce and can of ginger

top that.ya loons

pointyhat · 14/10/2009 18:44

He's their dad. Certainly not worth having a parenting argument about. Relax, unite.

TheHeadlessWombat · 14/10/2009 18:45

It sounded good until you got to the brown sauce part. Vile stuff.

scottishmummy · 14/10/2009 18:45

phone a pizza and call it quits
no biggie

Jamieandhismagictorch · 14/10/2009 18:45

I think it's to do with a more-generally annoying DP, as Lyra alluded to earlier.

Lyra, I think the pizza was unconventional and possibly sub-optimal compared to porridge , but it was only one day.

BTW I do reassure myself that my DCs mammoth ketchup addiction is a GOOD THING, now I know about lycopene
