Well, am I ???

OP posts:
EdgarAllenPoo · 09/10/2009 20:19

actually OP..i am now leaning back to YABU because you seem to want to justify something said elsewhere, rather than make the general point : wouldn't it be nice if we could all remain civil with each other?

using the term 'gross' to describe an activity indulged in by several on here, might be seen as being uncivil, which would back up Robberbuttons point...so in a way, you'd be being hypocritical, no?

ThoroughlyFedUp · 09/10/2009 20:21

GhostWriter - Thanks, but are they proven facts, or just opinions ??
Briefly looking at the list it says:

Nursing toddlers benefit NUTRITIONALLY
Nursing toddlers are SICK LESS OFTEN
Nursing toddlers have FEWER ALLERGIES
Nursing toddlers are SMART
Nursing toddlers are WELL ADJUSTED SOCIALLY
Nursing a toddler is NORMAL
MOTHERS also benefit from nursing past infancy
Additional Resources

Well, my DS's benefit nutritionally as I make all their meals, fresh, from scratch. They eat loads of fruit and veg & have a very balanced diet. They will eat almost anything.

My DS's are hardly EVER ill (unlike my aunts 4 DC's who were all b'fed)

Neither of my DS's have any allergies

Both of them are very smart & well adjusted socially

And they were both FF right from the start.

I can't see how anyone can tell me I am wrong & I don't know what I'm talking about TB perfectly H.
I'm not saying extended b'feeding is WRONG, I just don't like to see children of that age breastfeeding IN PUBLIC.
I never disputed the supposed "benefits", just stated that both of mine were FF & are healthy, happy, rarely sick children.

ThoroughlyFedUp · 09/10/2009 20:25

GhostWriter - Yes he was 3, almost 4, almost school age. All of these things were said in previous posts. He was nearer 4 than 3 at the time.

SardineQueen · 09/10/2009 20:25

thoroughlyfedup you obviously have a bee in your bonnet about proving your point, which doesn't tie in with the "why me" OP.

People have explained loads of stuff about BF on the other thread, and how AIBU works on this one.

You have had a run-in on the other trhead, then started another AIBU and have started the whole thing again.

You will get a hammering I'm afraid.

EdgarAllenPoo · 09/10/2009 20:26

erm..now you're totally ranting about another thread. stick to the point made in your OP, op...

Knickers0nMahead · 09/10/2009 20:27

If you have a problem with EBF'ers then start another AIBU thread instead of this one.

ThoroughlyFedUp · 09/10/2009 20:27

Sardine - I have not started it again here, please read back through the posts & see that once people knew who I was, they brought it up again.
Anyway, I'm putting it to bed now. Gonna ask MN to delete it.

pooexplosions · 09/10/2009 20:29

You don't like to see it? Why should anyone care what you like to see? Do you hae some kind of veto on what people can do in your field of vision?
I don't like to see people formula feeding small babies, its so unnatural and just a little bit gross. But since I'm not ruler of the universe (yet ) I don't get any say in what other people do, and I do have the option of not actually looking at things I don't like. Why don't you try that?

And stop putting benefits in speech marks "", you look like a knob. And you're still wrong.

GhostWriter · 09/10/2009 20:31

" I can only go on my own personal experiences and until I am given proven facts, who's to say I am the wrong who doesn't know what they're talking about ?? "

But you don't dispute the benefits? Make your mind up.

Nobody is suggesting that ffed children are sickly, allergic and thick any more than they are saying that bfed children are super intelligent, brainy and immune to all of the world's ills.

Congratulations on your healthy children. They do not disprove that formula fed children in general miss out on the norm of bfing and therefore have, on average a greater risk of allergies, obesity, illness etc. Your child may eat anything and may have nutritional food prepared by you, but what the buggery heck does that do to disprove the facts?

Yes, it's proven fact. But, I was right, you're not truly interested.

scottishmummy · 09/10/2009 20:33

so what someone skelped your arse on AIBU
live to post another day. love the concept of only wishing affirmative responses on aibu

FlamingoBingo · 09/10/2009 20:34

Woooohoooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had a post deleted!!! It was me!!! Although I don't understand why.

Saying bfing looks gross is rude. Saying there is no reason to do it beyond a certain age is ignorant. Those were the only two words I used.

And I don't really understand how anything I wrote could be construed as flaming - I was only writing facts.

I'm actually pretty about all this. But quite funny really .

fishie · 09/10/2009 20:35

TFU "once people knew who I was, they brought it up again" you are sounding a tad paranoid.

Imisssleeping · 09/10/2009 20:35

You just can't see it can you? You've been given fact after fact.
You have quoted a long list of FACTS.
and your argument is ? ....... your kids are ok?

My parents never used to wear seatbelts in the car and they are - ok.

I know someone who smoked all her life and she lived to be 80.

I am going to stop my ds wearing a seatbelt and encourage him to start smoking.
You are delusional woman

Tortington · 09/10/2009 20:36

i bottle fed all three of mine

breast is best for the child no doubt about it - your stupid to try and argue diferently - esp considering that your own personal experiences do not constitute scientific fact.

however i must point out that sometimes life is so hard for a new mum that given breastfeeding on top of an already - perhaps difficult birth - life changing experience - that some mums mentally mentally just can't cope with anything more.

joyjac · 09/10/2009 20:37

ThoroughlyFedUp, if you read Ghostwriters link carefully you will see that these are referenced facts. You don't have to like what you read, but don't disparage without reading it all.

Morloth · 09/10/2009 20:37

Why do you want the post deleted?

scottishmummy · 09/10/2009 20:37

bf threads are usually argy bargy and name calling.unpleasant debacle with statistics at dawn

GhostWriter · 09/10/2009 20:39

"My auntie breastfed her 4th child (DS2) until he was 3"

"All I said was I didn't like seeing my aunt b'feeding her 4 year old in public."

I don't want to get into a c+p war with you, but you change what you say for effect. You ask for links and then disregard them.

Flaming aside, opinion aside, consistent clear conversation and debate seem to be lacking somewhat.

FlamingoBingo · 09/10/2009 20:39

There was no name-calling, scottishmummy. I said 'rude and ignorant like Chunky' because she was rude...and she was ignorant. That's not namecalling, or is it?

6feetundertheGroundhogs · 09/10/2009 20:39

Ah well of course you have to know where and when to post said opinion.

I'd be definately inclined to at least hold your coat in this playground fight, and (in hushed tones) know exactly what you are saying and where you are coming from... but please don't tell anyone eh?

I saw that thread, I knew where it was all going to end up... I personally wouldn't have put in my opinion about the aunts decision, that's like a red rag on AIBU...

Heck, I just got a bit of a light mauling on another thread cos I suggested DW go along with DH instead of joining the usual Stone him, Stone him posse...

it'll all be forgotten tomorrow....

scottishmummy · 09/10/2009 20:42

bf threads generally go down the anecdotes and quasi-statistics and humphy face route.

i see nothing has changed here

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 09/10/2009 21:06

Fedup/Chunky
you posted a thread stating that you got flamed then linked to the thread. People told you YABU for your opinions which they didn't like, again, because you brought it up again.
You also got told you should not have posted another thread about a thread because it's boring. Imagine if everyone made new threads when they didn't like what was said in the original thread? There would be no threads to read.

Basically, YABU for several reasons.

Tortington · 09/10/2009 21:09

my cousins mums auntie boyfiends sisters second cousin - ( who is married to my uncle vladimir the second) breastfed her 14 children at the same time

they all ended up in prison and worse than that

spotty

GhostWriter · 09/10/2009 21:11

Woah 14 children at once. Saggy.

Tortington · 09/10/2009 21:13
