YANBU you forgot when they are babies the mums who have to change their babies at the same time.

Also, the pasive aggresive, so how much does ds weigh? As a opener to my dc weighs and is about the same age.

i hardly ever went to baby groups, the mothers bored me to tears.

My pet hate are those cliques of first time yummy mummies who have to have designer buggies, & you haul your 2nd hand pram into the room & swear you hear the conservation stop in horror.

there are not any politics. you are all sleep deprived and rather dull.

She is a fairly recent mum exactly the same as you and quite possibly feeling less than adequate.

Cut her some slack, stop judging, don't seek out the bad in people - and you might eventually find one or two kindred spirits to hang out with while you get acquainted with motherhood.

most of them are just trying to make polite conversation ihe hope of finding someone to have coffee and a bun with once in a while

babies and what they can do are your common ground and shared experience. after time you might find other things to talk about. which might be more interesting

I loved the mums at my old baby group. Such a lovely bunch of people!

We're still all good friends now, 2 years on.

I hated baby groups -strangely I enjoyed mother and toddler groups.

Some delusional women are under the impression that it actually matters who talked/walked/used a spoon first. It all evens out. Personally, I can't ever remember being asked when I learnt to roll over at a job interview.

Nice to hear from some other mothers who feel similarly about baby groups. I had PND and although there were some lovely mums there, there was an odd atmosphere and I found myself gravitating towards other mums who seemed to be finding motherhood a bit tough too. So, as a result, never made any real contacts outside of the group.

I'll never forget the mum who seemed genuinely shocked that most of us were not able to fit into our "old" clothes immediately after the birth, (or even several weeks/months on).

YABU, mostly it is people's own insecurities coming out in how they see other people's comments. Feeling inadequate...they are boasting. Feeling content yourself...they are just proud.

Yes, you get the occasional annoyance, but you get them everywhere, socially, work and baby groups.

I hate baby group politics. The baby group I used to frequent had a big thing about size that got totally out of hand "my baby is bigger than your baby". One of the mums started showing off about her dd being in age 2-3 clothes at 12 months - we had a peep at the labels and discovered it to be a rather obvious lie. I found it funny to think anybody would want people to think they had an abnormally massive monster baby! lol

Find a different group if you hate them so much. Or stop assuming they're all out to hate on you and start cutting some slack/practising your serene expression/delving a little deeper and maybe making some friends.

bbh - Baby group or toddler group, the same applies. At toddlers it just means you talk about whether your child can count up to 100 or say their alphabet yet.

I've met some fantastic people at baby group (plus a lot of dullards and biggots). We did talk almost exclusivly about our dcs at first as that was our common ground but that changes when you find people that that you click with. I think lots of people are a bit insecure because of losing the social life they had at work and with childless friends and get a bit showy offy for a bit but most are quite normal given the chance.

A little harsh cyteen I didn't say I hated anyone.....
