Bloody teenagers, where the hell are the parents

Why oh why do i have to endure a load of teenagers hanging about on the pitch black field, laughing + talking (loudly) at 20 past 3 in the morning. I just wanna sleep AIBU.

Probably for the same reason loads of teenagers hang around at the mouth of an alley(12 feet from my house) ~ because they can, because they are thoughtless and uneducated.

I cant even remember what time i fell asleep in the end, tried the police before, they are either to busy, or as its quiet the kids here the engine of the cop car and just make off in a different direction

well if they are only 'laughing and talking' and not doing anything else,where is the problem?

Actually they do like to rob houses and gardens + start fires. But still get away with it. And they pinched the new massive + expensive swing from the newly refurbished park, spoiling the youngsters fun. + i fully understand its the holidays, but that is taking the mick at that time of the morning. There are children round here trying to sleep. Its inconsiderate. I think they should be taken home if caught.

I would say they're uneducated. It doesn't have to mean in an academic sense but rather uneducated as in they haven't been educaed to respect other peoples' feelings. Of course some of them may have been educated about this but just choose to ignore their parents .

YANBU, Yes it may only be talking and laughing but night after night till 3:00am. Id be very pissed off and anyone who says they wouldn't is either a liar or deaf.

I'm not a deaf liar and I don't think humans should be prevented from talking and laughing at 3am, especially not on a weekend night.

Your local council environmental health officer should be able to help. They have a noisy neighbour department. You are not being unresonable at 3.20am. just exhausted.

At 3.20 in the morning they should be home in bed.

Plenty of time in normal hours for hanging out and chatting.

Greensleeves have you ever experienced the madness attached to sleep deprivation? Of course teenagers have the right and need to gather - hey I remember hanging out and upsetting people at 15! but come on be reasonable, people are entitled not to be woken by excessive noise at night. That is why the council have environmental health officers!

Oh yes I am very familiar with sleep deprivation and I know how miserable and overwhelming it can be

but this thread isn't just about sleep deprivation, it's about teenagers and it's full of the usual bigoted spiteful pomposity that greets teenagers wherever they go and whenever they go there.

Yesterday evening a small group of teenagers decided to sit on the pavement opposite my house, chatting and drinking. Very soon afterwards two policewomen arrived and spent about half an hour talking to them, writing stuff down etc. I presume one of my neighbours called the police about it. The hilarious thing was that the two preschool aged kids in the house they were sitting outside watched the whole time with their faces glued to the window. I think they were just excited to see the police.

I have no idea why the teenagers decided to sit down where they did. It was only about 7pm and it's a very quiet street where nothing ever happens. They could easily have sat down in the lane at the end of the street (where there are no houses) and no one would have noticed them (probably). I found the whole thing very odd.

We often hear other teenagers walking past our house both in the early evening (when they go out) and later when they go home. Our street (and the lane behind it) is the shortest route from the estate behind us to the main road and bus stop. They always sound really loud (although they're not doing anything wrong, just walking along talking), but I think this is just because its extremely quiet round here otherwise. I doubt we'd even notice it if we lived in a city.

There isn't many places for adults to go at that time in the morning either to be fair.

So Skidoodle you wouldn't mind one bit if there was repeatedly a group of people outside the back of your house making enough noise to keep you awake till after 3:00am? You'd be quite hapy that you and your kids couldn't sleep even if you had to be at work at 7:00am?

I don't mind noisy teenagers (I live across from a chippy) but it shuts at midnight.

3am is taking the piss. 14 yr olds are still children and they should be in bed.

I agree there isn't much to do for teenagers. But there isn't much for any age group in the middle of the night either.

Lol mary. + greensleeves i have no problem with them hanging around at reasonable times of day, dont you think that at 3 in the morning they really should be in bed + exactly its the holidays they have over a month in total to hang out. And i am actually knackered today had to get up early for my 2 dc's one of which has sn, so its pretty hard to explain mummy really is tired today, because i cant sleep. The kids round here were asked if they wanted a youth centre they said no and opted for the now stolen park swing. I dont get it they had the choice + didnt want it, thats because most of them dont want the adults to know what they are doing. Sorry i dont care what you say about, its just the sad reality of the world, so dont be deluded they are all angels, imo only a small minority are well behaved,

I got the impression it was a regular thing - she said that she's tried the police before and they're either too busy or they attend and the teenagers scarper. That suggests to me its happened quite a few times. A one off I could cope with. And its no good saying its the weekend, people still work weekends. Would you want a midwife delivering your baby if they'dd had 2 hours sleep the night before? Or Dr treating your child in a&e?

I didn't think this thread was an anti teenage thread but rather an anti specific group of teenagers thread.

Outside at 3am? You have got to be joking- I'd have had my arse tanned. No way in hell will I allow my teenage dd to do that. They can stay up till 3 when they're old enough to have their own place, or if some poor bugger of a parent is prepared to have them for a sleepover. Ridiculous IMO.
