Well yes but perhaps she was trying to avoid ruining their holiday.

One thing I know, my 5yr old would be distraught if he hadn't spoken to me in a week.

wannaBe · 23/07/2009 17:14

myredcardigan if the op was genuinely worried, two children at home wouldn't prevent her from driving down there - surely. If I was genuinely worried for my child there is nothing that would prevent me going to where he was to ensure he was ok - nothing.

To be fair I don't think the op is obliged to come back and give us an update of her every move, but the fact she hasn't could indicate that she has gone down there/has spoken to the children, or that perhaps she's just busy with her other children.

And I don't really think this is the thread for debate about f4j is it?

UnquietDad · 23/07/2009 17:16

Their activities have got people talking about fathers' access in a way that they never were before. As I said, there have been no criminal convictions as a result of any of the organisation's activities. That's not propaganda - it's just trying to stick to facts.

Wondering how the OP is getting on. Hope she updates.

skidoodle I don't think it's the op that has sparked this level of debate tbh, but those who hysterically cried "call the police, ex's frequently murder their children, etc etc". It was only then that op became defensive and started talking about the court order she has etc.

I don't think she is overreacting to be annoyed that she hasn't been able to speak to her children. But having looked at previous posts it does seem that op has previously done the same - ie withheld contact between the children and their father, and even changed address without notifying him of that. Which is why I think there is fault on both sides, and the children's needs in this have been forgotten in the need to play games to get back at each other.

UQD - You are wrong about there being no criminal convictions. Geoffrey Hibbert who is a F4J protester from Hampshire brought the M25 in Surrey to a standstill and was remanded in custody last month after being found guilty of causing a public nuisance and endangering motorists.

I think he's awaiting sentencing but is remanded in custody.

UnquietDad · 23/07/2009 17:25

What I said was I didn't want to have an argument. I couldn't let a factual inaccuracy go unchallenged as it would have looked as if I agreed with it. Being "taken to court" for stunts is not the same thing as being convicted. So you are incorrect there.

I'm sure there are disagreeable people who use F4J for their own agenda. But then there are disagreeable people who use the Labour Party for their own agenda.

myredcardigan · 23/07/2009 17:25

I agree, skidoodle. She's damned if she does... and all that.

Oh, leave it, dittany. Pick your battles FGS

skidoodle · 23/07/2009 17:39

Yes, little lady, why don't you stop arguing?

sunfleurs · 23/07/2009 17:40

Cyradis, why don't you take yourself off somewhere else because I for one think Dittany is fab. She is well informed of her subject matter and nearly always give insightful and helpful advice.

For all of you saying Well I just wouldn't let the kids go etc etc etc, you may not have a choice. Not just that but those of you who say that have clearly never been in a relationship with a controlling, emotionally abusive man who will stop at NOTHING to get his own way, it is not about the kids with these men it is about WAR between himself and his ex and he whatever he has to do is going to win. If you had you would be alot more aware of it in relationships going on around you than you are now because the signs are unmistakeable once you know what you are looking for.

Sadly you have to experience to understand it.

pranma · 23/07/2009 17:40

It looks to me as though op has found mumsnet less than helpful-sometimes what is needed is support not criticism for the sake of it.

GypsyMoth · 23/07/2009 17:40

lol at unquiet dad 'sticking to the facts!!!

junglist1 · 23/07/2009 17:41

Oh my God don't call her Little Lady!

UnquietDad · 23/07/2009 17:42

ilovetiffany - you find that amusing why?

WarhammerFan · 23/07/2009 17:42

It's not true that a F4J protester has never been convicted (found guilty) of a criminal offence in the UK. Am I writing in invisible ink?

UnquietDad · 23/07/2009 17:43

All right, one guy who I didn't know about has a conviction pending. It's not exactly earth-shattering and doesn't put them into "BNP" territory.

And I've always found Dittany helpful aswell. I agree with a lot of what she has to say and she commands respect as a strong female. Pointing out inequalities isn't man hating

UnquietDad · 23/07/2009 17:46

I'm sure people will read this thread in the future (if it is not deleted) and see who has made unfounded allegations and assumptions and who has tried to stick to the established facts. It is quite difficult to have an argument when I obviously can't say anything right because of the Original Sin of being born a boy.
