to wonder why another MNer would randomly send me a CAT message asking me to indulge in slagging off other threads?

Never heard of this MNer before (but then I have only been around here for a year and regularly posting for about 6 months). Claims to be posting under a new name but was previously someone else on here - whose name I have seen on threads - and asks me to indulge in some slagging off of threads. Ignored message and then find myself being referred to as "poncetastic" on a thread I posted. Can accept the accusation....probably am a bit poncetastic at times....but all seems very strange "coincidence".

AIBU to wonder question posted in title of thread?

AIBU to think this is pathetic behaviour?

AIBU to think that this kind of trolling etc happens all too often on MN?

(am trying to steer clear of starting a thread about a thread issues here ).

OP posts:

But what was this "slagging" - how can we even know that is what it was? That's the point about seeing what the CAT said.

TheFallenMadonna · 23/07/2009 13:22

This thread reminds me of that I mean. Not going to pass comment on an unseen CAT.

HolyGuacamole · 23/07/2009 13:23

If it wasn't a fishy person who done the catting, is it still ok? Or is it only ok if you are a mysterious well known poster who is making (quite a bad) effort to remain 'anonymous'?

Yes it is silly and daft....but....it is the type of thing that causes trouble and rifts on MN.

SetSquare · 23/07/2009 13:23

i am really confused about this.
I catted her to ask her somthing style and beauty related.

It was a joke,
the poncetastic comment was a joke

I have no time to stalk

really

Northernlurker · 23/07/2009 13:24

The op said 'Yep, they sent me a CAT this afternoon (which I have never heard of before today).'

Surely you have to pay for CAT before you could receive anything? So how come the op hadn't heard of it but could still get it? And then her first impulse is to start a thread complaining about that and therefore attacking another poster? However she doesn't back that up with the text of the alleged CAT?

Somebody is certainly shitstirring and I don't think it was Setsquare.

SetSquare · 23/07/2009 13:24

adn LOl at no one ever talking about a thread off line

yeah.

TheVenerableUponHighGoat · 23/07/2009 13:24

these threads remind me that most mn are abit attention deficient.

op yabu, buy some more twill and you will feel better

ComeOVeneer · 23/07/2009 13:25

I think until the OP states exactly what the CAT contained and the CATer speaks up for themselves, it is all just speculation.

ALthough I gree the OP's post on the other thread and the fact they contactedMNHQ should be enough, this is just nastiness to start this thread even if the CATer did do something wrong. As I say to my children (4 and 7) "two wrongs don't make a right"

Although I was under the impression MN checked CATs in which case I'm surprised they would have forwarded this particular one!

SetSquare · 23/07/2009 13:25

adn how odd to think a thread will resolve this issue

prettyfly1 · 23/07/2009 13:25

message to both op and whomever cat her. This is mumsnet. I am sure that if you visit the site of your local council you will find details of some schools in your area which should have playgrounds you can go and indulge your need for childish backbiting in.

(pretty leaves thread in disgust).

p.s cod isnt nice and she is awful to people at times BUT she has never to my knowledge catd people off site to incite web bullying which is what is being encouraged here and I for one hope MNTowers come down VERY heavily on anyone responsible.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/07/2009 13:25

yes, as I said, a super-shit-stirring OP, we should all stop posting really...keeps posting

brimfull · 23/07/2009 13:25

could you all please help me choose a watch instead

gemmummy · 23/07/2009 13:25

You don't pay to receive CATs iirc (not paid for ages but have had the odd one or two) just tick the box. All seems a bit storm in a teacup.

SetSquare · 23/07/2009 13:27

I think this is so odd and slighty ..well..
I haev been out all day.
you lot carry on as you were

( ps haev had three emails already asing me what was in the cat)

CybilLiberty · 23/07/2009 13:27

Well I for one will be boycotting Style and Beauty from now on.

No really I am.

Beg all you want.

Oh alright then, I'll come back.

gemmummy · 23/07/2009 13:28

TheVenerableUponHighGoat · 23/07/2009 13:28

all hail the blessed one!

TheFallenMadonna · 23/07/2009 13:28

I have to say that the idea that Style and Beauty is the centre of all this is the most surreal bit of it all...

cocolepew · 23/07/2009 13:29

NO! She wanted to know a stlye question without us knowing . She doesn't know anything about style and beauty after all .

I bet she's sitting reading this wear tracky bottoms and crocs.
