Ok her dd started to be unwell on sunday, it was confirmed being Swine flu..He apparently got over it quickly, and was back at school today ??? Why ???????? The school gave us a letter saying to keep our children at least 7 days or not coming back at all in the case of symptoms ??? It's so inconsiderate for the other children..I know my ds will catch it at one point but would like to avoid it..I can't help myself,I'm paniking..and this cow sent her dd at school because he looked well enough, she has another dd and dh being sick at home with swine flu for god sake.......................

Have never heard anyone say to keep them off for 7 days, although have heard that the incubation period can be 7 days

Oh and they're not testing for 'swine flu' any more so 'confirmed' will mean the doctor said based on symptoms presented - but there seem to be a load of bugs going round at the moment so who knows?

Current advice is that if a child/adult is no longer disp;ayign symptoms then they are find and not contagious and should go about their normal day.

We have had children and satff off from 2-3 days to over a week with suspected SF. They simply come back when well.

The fact that the otehr child and her DH are currently ill is irelevent TBH. The child who has had it and is now recovered won't be getting it fromt hem again, and won't be passing it on to others either.

it says that if the child has swine flu and has been told that by a HCP, then they do not attend school. they can return to school when they are better

as this child has done.

for the vast majority , same as with regular seasonal flu, they will make a full recovery.

Sorry but I'm not unreasonnable..we got a letter which says that you should wait 7 days after the firt symptoms...she didn't follow this at all..If it was my child I would have followed the advice, because I'm CONSIDERATE of others...Every schools gives away different advices and ours was 7 days quarantine. FWIW your ds and her dd were probably incontact before she exhibited symptoms so the fact that shes back at school doesnt make much difference. Also no 'confirmed' cases anymore, tis pandemic, if you have symptoms then you have it, simple as

Once you are well and your symptoms have gone you no longer have the active virus in your body and cannot spread it. If his symptoms have gone he no longer has it and can't spread it, so YABU

Everyone should just stay indoors would be so much better.

There is a child at ds's school with symptoms of swine flu and is off recovering. (Notices put out first thing this morning in the playground).

Cue mass hysteria at the school today. 100's queuing for head to ask why school not closing.

Then tonight a mother picks her son up and immediately puts antibacterial gel on his hands.

YABU and now your getting defensive because noone agrees with you.

YABU - sorry but I think you'll feel a lot better if you resign yourself to the fact that your kids WILL, eventually, get swine flu and make a full recovery.

That's nothing OP! My younger sons classmate was sick in class and had a high temp, next day, yep, there he is! And another boy was sent in with a temp today, mum says to teacher if he cries send him home
