To think these people could have waited to smoke their drugs?

I went to a festival on Saturday with a very easily led (mum) friend.

We met up with her little (19 yo) sister and ended up sitting with her friends for most of the night.

Later on I needed to pop home and they needed to pop to the garage, on the way back we walked through the park and they said they wanted to have a joint.

I told them I didn't feel comfortable around it and didn't like it but the still went ahead and 'skinned up' any way.

They gave some to my easily led friend, and i know it is her decision, but if they had waited until they had got back and went of so I didn't have to be around it then there is no way she would have sought it out.

Don't get me wrong, I am not perfect, I have tried drugs in my teens but know that if anyone had ever said they were uncomfortable around it I wouldn't ever have gone against that.

So AIBU to feel angry that they didn't wait until i was gone and risk the police finding us and risk being associated with it?

I have a DS and feel it is very important to stay well clear of anything like that now, and feel that it is my responsibility as a mother to make sure DS knows that drugs are bad.

Apologies for the husband bit, sorry. However if you go out at that time then you really do need to take better care of yourself and not put yourself in those situations if you can't deal with other peoples actions.

AllFallDown · 07/07/2009 15:33

YANBU.
I smoke plenty of dope, but if I do it around other people it is only when I am absolutely sure they don't mind. And never out and about in public. If you didn't feel comfortable, they should have respected your feelings, especially as you are legally in the right.

daftpunk · 07/07/2009 15:42

yes..i agree with you allfalldown...but she was at a music festival....most of the festivals i've been to have been quite "druggie"......asking people if they mind the smell of dope at these places is like asking people in a pub "do you mind the smell of alcohol"....it's not like they were smoking it in her house.

MsUndastood · 07/07/2009 15:56

I wasn't AT the festival

My AIBU was that could they have waited... until we got BACK.

I am not trying to stop anybody doing illegal drugs, that is their own choice, not one that i choose, if they had waited until we got back i could have done something rather than wait on the wet grass waiting for them to (slowly) finish their joint!

in your mind they were being unreasonable - does it matter whether the posters here agree or disagree with you?

If you do post AIBU then at least be prepared for some discussion, different viewpoints, and to perhaps take into account that what you see as something serious, others just dont ... it might just be more life experience, a big dose more realism with a touch of cyncism about life ....

I constantly wonder why so many people who have clear views on something, insist on posting about it ...

daftpunk · 07/07/2009 16:05

op...try and forget about it...you survived...

oh,.. and there really is only one way to smoke..and that's slowly....

littlelamb · 07/07/2009 16:09

I love that I have been passed out in bed all afternoon (too many drugs dontcha know),I come back online and this is still going. The thing that now tickles me is that I'm a single mum too, I should clearly never venture out of my house lest something happen to me. What a sensible attitude

oldraver · 07/07/2009 16:20

I would have wandered off and found someone who wasn't doing it and it wouldn't have bothered me!

HAHAHAHAHA at a festival ?? You'd be still looking I reckon

foreverchanges · 07/07/2009 16:21

glad people on here smoke ,there that one skinner made me feel much much better.....
much rather have stoned people lookin after my dcs than drunk people and evil alcohol is legal.........its a funny old world

foreverchanges · 07/07/2009 16:24

was beginning to think everyone on here was straight with all the ridiculous aibu threads(ie my nanny wears primark etc....)
have had a long absence from mn just back and all the aibu threads are killing me ...

MsUndastood · 07/07/2009 16:25

Old raver, I wasn't at the festival at this point in time, we were at the park, and there was a few places I went past that smelt of it but not overly so.

And for the record, I wouldn't let anybody stoned or drunk look after my DC.

OP posts:
daftpunk · 07/07/2009 16:28

foreverchanges....you can't say "straight".....it means dull and boring....haven't you seen the gay packed lunch thread...

foreverchanges · 07/07/2009 16:34

well i have to let someone stoned look after my kids my dear xp if he was alcoholic id be worried

though straight was dull and boringerr mean sensible and grown up

gay packed lunch thread didnt know what to make of it ,might go and have read for laughs

littlelamb · 07/07/2009 16:36

I don't think anyone's saying they'd be OK wiht a stoned person looking after their dc . And, contrary to what I may have said on this thread, I'm not wildly keen on people smoking weed either, I've seen it absolutely destroy 2 people very close to me. I think it's the holier than thou attitude that got people het up. Foreverchanges, interesting first posts. Why am I suspecting that you and the op are one and the same?

daftpunk · 07/07/2009 16:42

littlelamb...foreverchanges said she'd been away from mn...why do you think she's the op?

foreverchanges · 07/07/2009 16:44

who is op ?
ive been a member ofmn since 2002 on and off always try to cause a stir in a drugs debate
my belief is freedom of choice and i cant believe others get so uppity and judgemental over other peoples choices/lifestyles/beliefs..........im more a live and let live type

foreverchanges · 07/07/2009 16:47

littlelanb are you saying the op is stoned cos i am (just a tiny bit) and i feel much less p eed off than i did earlier
i cant be the op i far too opinionated...

oldraver · 07/07/2009 16:47

MS..... you said.......I don't care what they did when we were back with everyone else, I would have wandered off and found someone who wasn't doing it and it wouldn't have bothered me!

You didnt make it clear where 'back with everyone else' was (after you going home, them to the garage and your walk through the park etc} So I assumed you had gone back to the festival

Anyhow YABVU, you had two legs and could of walked

daftpunk · 07/07/2009 16:50

foreverchanges...has that always been your name?

littlelamb · 07/07/2009 16:53

WHy? Because the only posts this poster has made are on this thread. Just seemed a bit too convenient. But I am completely off my head with a horrible virus so I may just be paranoid (see, who needs drugs? I watched while my floorboards swallowed up a nappy this morning too, so am obviously hallucinating on top of everything else. It's been a fun day...)

foreverchanges · 07/07/2009 16:56

no ive changed names a few times in the last week tryin to find one that suits .think my last monicker on here years ago was lunachic but you prob wont remember im quite quiet as a rule
