To think these people could have waited to smoke their drugs?

I went to a festival on Saturday with a very easily led (mum) friend.

We met up with her little (19 yo) sister and ended up sitting with her friends for most of the night.

Later on I needed to pop home and they needed to pop to the garage, on the way back we walked through the park and they said they wanted to have a joint.

I told them I didn't feel comfortable around it and didn't like it but the still went ahead and 'skinned up' any way.

They gave some to my easily led friend, and i know it is her decision, but if they had waited until they had got back and went of so I didn't have to be around it then there is no way she would have sought it out.

Don't get me wrong, I am not perfect, I have tried drugs in my teens but know that if anyone had ever said they were uncomfortable around it I wouldn't ever have gone against that.

So AIBU to feel angry that they didn't wait until i was gone and risk the police finding us and risk being associated with it?

I have a DS and feel it is very important to stay well clear of anything like that now, and feel that it is my responsibility as a mother to make sure DS knows that drugs are bad.

What is fuxake? Is it like feng shui or is it a martial art?

MsUndastood · 07/07/2009 11:31

I didn't say i was perfect, I have dabbled in the oast, but now I choose to not be around that sort of crap, and their took away that choice for me.

I felt uncomfortable and angry they couldn't have waited the mile walk back to smoke their stupid illegal drugs, rather than forcing me to have to be around them whilst they did it!

I don't care what they did when we were back with everyone else, I would have wandered off and found someone who wasn't doing it and it wouldn't have bothered me!

Loooool HarleyD

@ virtually stoned wow thats a cheaper way and OP didn't you know that Mumsnets its the biggest drugs den online you can purchese anything all at a good price

expatinscotland · 07/07/2009 11:32

k, this is where you, OP, leave the wind up in order for it to still keep being funny.

KingCanuteIAm · 07/07/2009 11:32

It is not affecting your rights really is it? No ore than you wanted to affect theirs. The fact is that they were outside not in your house or your garden where you really could say they had contravined your rights. WRT being around it, well you could have chosen to just stand a few feet away so the smoke did not affect you and you did not have to lose your company out of the dark park.

Sorry but I think YABU and over sensetive too.

daftpunk · 07/07/2009 11:33

ormirian...i think it's posh for "fucks sake"

pingping · 07/07/2009 11:34

Msundastood Why didn't you walk ahead without them I am sure they never pinned you down whilst they sat there smoking there spliff

morningpaper · 07/07/2009 11:34

YANBU - why would you sit on wet grass in the park in the middle of the night for a smoke? Weirdos. I would have just walked out the park though - presumably you could have just walked back to the road and walked in a lighted area with Sensible friend? There is no way I would have stood in the cold waiting for them.

Teenagers ARE a bore though.

mayorquimby · 07/07/2009 11:34

they didn't force you to be around them.
they didn't take that choice away from you.
you're a grown woman you have freedom of moverment and freedom of association. just walk away and don't hang around with them.

MsUndastood · 07/07/2009 11:36

Pingping, i did say before, the reason I didn't walk ahead is I didn't want to leave the dark (amd very big) park on my own, walk through town on my own, and then through some meadows on my own.

So I had to sit whilst they smoked illegal drugs

Like I said, you did not have to sit whilst they smoked, you ould have walked far enough away so it did not affect you - xcersicing your wisk hot to be around it - but still being close enough to take advantage of the safety in numbers.

WHat distance would you like to have in order that you do not feel your rights have been compromised? 6ft, 10ft, 1 mile? TBH, I think you need to be a bit more realistic.

MsUndastood · 07/07/2009 11:41

Well, I must BU if *everyone^ thinks I am being

If you were there with your "easily led" friend, why didn't you lead her out of the park with you to get home safely together instead of sitting with a load of teenagers?

Or ring your husband for a lift?
Or get a taxi?

harleyd · 07/07/2009 11:43

ok guys...heres the deal
roll your own fecking rockets, im wasted!

actually...op...im going to a festival this weekend, you wont be there will you?

pingping · 07/07/2009 11:43

I think your just Msundastood

morningpaper · 07/07/2009 11:43

I don't think you are BU to be annoyed with silly teenagers

I think you are BU to expect teenagers NOT to be silly and to expect them to chaperone you home

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 07/07/2009 11:44

YABU and very silly. Why did it bother you that they were smoking near you? You weren't being forced to smoke it, and if the police had arrived they would not have been interested in you. You don't have the 'right' to not be exposed to things you don't approve of, you have the right to remove yourself, which you didn't do. Get over it already.

Eve4Walle · 07/07/2009 11:50

Drugs are not okay. That's what I'll be telling my kids anyway.

MumOfAPickle · 07/07/2009 11:54

YABU I'm afraid. You're all adults. If you were with a non-drinker who asked you to stop drinking that glass of wine because it made them feel uncomfortable how would you respond?

You do sound pretty naive if you think that the police would have hauled you all in just because a couple of people in the group were having a spliff! They probably wouldn't really give a shit about the ones smoking it let alone the ones who weren't!

MsUndastood · 07/07/2009 11:58

Wine isn't illegal
