Doodle2u · 22/06/2009 09:20

Erm....I do this so that the name in question can see easily that the message is meant for them and other people reading the thread are not confused by "yes it was yesterday" appearing half way up a thread for, seemingly, no obvious reason!

YABU mrKrabs and I'm not stopping from doing it

MrKrabs · 22/06/2009 09:20

No they need to READ it
you Doodle are singlhandely dumbing down the nation.
wHat do you have to say for yourself?
HMM?

Doodle2u · 22/06/2009 09:22

I'm DUMB and I'm proud!

OrmIrian · 22/06/2009 09:22

Huzzah mrkrabs. I agree. It's a bit like being addressed by the headteacher - that special piercing tone of voice that they use when you are being very bad to reach through the surrounding racket. Don't like it. It makes me scared.

SpawnChorus · 22/06/2009 09:23

Oooh you made me jump. Feel like I have been caught by the teacher doing that "Spawn loves distantloveobject x%" calculation on my notebook and am now required to answer question about the spinning jenny.

VinegarTits · 22/06/2009 09:23

Why does it bother you, do you have a phobia of bold words?

MrKrabs · 22/06/2009 09:24

i agree with doodle. some of us haven't got the time to read threads which can very easily go to posts in their hundreds. One doesn't always have to have the need to read evry single post as on the whole they will say the same thng in diferent ways. however if you are adressing a particular posters point that its good manners to address it to them, rather than slur and insipidly insinuate.

MrKrabs · 22/06/2009 09:25

I get what you are saying but maybe if people READ the threads rather than skimming for bits for them it would lead to fewer misunderstandings?

OP posts:
VinegarTits · 22/06/2009 09:26

'slur and insipidly insinute' i like that, i'm going to use that in RL

ChippingIn · 22/06/2009 09:27

MrKrabs get over it.

As others have already said, it's mostly used to differentiate a name from the rest of the text.

Qally · 22/06/2009 09:27

YABU. It's an internet convention and for a reason; as Custardo says, it's polite.

MrKrabs · 22/06/2009 09:27

but do spell it right when you say it wont you Vt

OP posts:
fishie · 22/06/2009 09:28

i agree it is irritating and exclusive. and rather rude to the other posters on the thread who don't get bolded.

fishie · 22/06/2009 09:29

yes of course it is polite to address people custy, but no need to start with a big bold namecheck.

VinegarTits · 22/06/2009 09:30

oh my goodness, i forgot my a

i'm so dumb for making a typo

MrKrabs · 22/06/2009 09:31

VinegarTits · 22/06/2009 09:31

MrKrabs · 22/06/2009 09:32

OP posts:
VinegarTits · 22/06/2009 09:33

i was just pointing our my typo didn't want you to think i couldn't spell now MrKrabs

Tortington · 22/06/2009 09:33

can i ask why you deliberatley draw attention to yourself considering the unfortunate circumstances leading to your short lived departure and constant name changing..which hides not a jot who you are.

It is trez bizarre. I can only conclude that you hanker after the spotlight?

VinegarTits · 22/06/2009 09:34
