Please tell me i'm not the only one sick to my stomach at what the Bristol family are putting that 18 month old baby girl through on a daily basis.

OP posts:
Kimi · 21/06/2009 21:53

well she dose not seem depressed 4 nights a weekwhen she goes to the pub, She is dirty, she is lazy and she needs to get a grip

rookiemater · 21/06/2009 21:54

The shocking thing to me was her complete sense of entitlement. When DS was born, the lesson I learnt within a very short period of time, was that I would never ever come first again and that my childs requirements would, by necessity, be more important than my own.

She seems unaware that a certain amount of self sacrifice is almost a prerequisite of having a child.

I do wonder how she got through the early days. No baby is born sleeping in until mid day. Or perhaps her DH had to do all the night feeds as well as working.

But yes I do agree with ronaldinhio. I find her version of mothering shocking and sad, but suspect that in the grand scheme of things the protection agencies have even more serious matters to worry about.

Ronaldinhio · 21/06/2009 21:55

The other lady seemed to have just as many problems imho
I was aghast at the idea of her fostering

I'm being totally honest

Kimi · 21/06/2009 21:55

If she knows what is healthy and what is un- healthy why the fuck can she not get out of bed and cook

snigger · 21/06/2009 21:56

needsabettername - a very naive post.

By that mindset, all children of abusive fathers will go on to be abusive if they don't have the internal emotional resources to overcome their upbringing?

Kimi · 21/06/2009 21:56

OMG she is having another one...

rookiemater · 21/06/2009 21:56

What issues did you think the other lady had Ronaldinhio ? Other than a rather unhealthy cushion plumping fetish...

Alambil · 21/06/2009 21:56

uh, you can be depressed and still go out!

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 21/06/2009 21:57

I think some of you are being really mean. Motherhood doesn't come naturally to some women, if she was cared for like this when she was a child she isn't going to know any better. It's obvious the father does though but what's he doing to educate her? This programme tends to edit out alot aswell. It's not going to show you the whole week is it as there is not enough time.

PaulaYatesMum · 21/06/2009 21:57

i am a bit weepy now over Geaorgina
I could not feed her that crap

screens in day with wake ful child not on in my book

Georgina is a LOVELY baby!

LovelyTinOfSpam · 21/06/2009 21:58

Aaaaah. Happy endings all round

On the telly anyway

You lot as you were...

Litchick · 21/06/2009 21:59

I can't understand the vitriol here.
One Mum realised she needed to do more round the house and with her child, the other decided to foster. What's not to like?

Scorpette · 21/06/2009 22:00

Ronaldinhio, you've obviously not seen it - the baby is being raised in squalor, being made to lie in her cot until dinnertime soaked in her own urine in a room that's a filthy tip filled with rubbish and mess and then just given crisps for breakfast and ignored for the rest of the day whilst the Mum messes around on the internet and ignores her totally. It is stomach-churning. Some of the comments here have gone over the top, especially the Baby P thing (being lazy isn't a red flag for child abuse, FFS!), which was ridiculous, but the state of that flat and the mother's attitude are appalling.

She's clearly very bored and probably depressed without realising it, but there's lazy and sad and then there's neglect. Without stimulation or socialisation that lovely little girl could well develop developmental and/or socialising problems.

LovelyTinOfSpam · 21/06/2009 22:00

What's wrong with tyke BTW?

It was me who called DD it.

Noonki · 21/06/2009 22:00

ronaldiniho - as I said before it's not abuse but neglect.

leaving a child in her cot til 1pm is neglect anyway you look at it.

she may have mh issues in which case she needs help. But that is not a reason for channel four not to contact an appropriate authority imo.

If I came across this family in my job I would. (work in housing support)

Schoolgirl · 21/06/2009 22:01

I think it's a load of shit tbh - it's obviously set up to show the extreme side to provoke extreme reactions as another poster said.

I mean, she wouldn't have agreed to have her life plastered all over the tv if she didn't have an inkling it was wrong and actually want to change.

Maybe she didn't anticipate being called a "fat bitch" though. Nice.

Scorpette · 21/06/2009 22:01

Ooops, sorry, you have seen it. That other woman was weird too, I agree with that.

Kimi · 21/06/2009 22:01

No matter how much it is edited or not edited the facts were clear, her house was filthy, she was lazy her child was neglected by her,

I grew up in a household with my mother battling depression, but it was a clean house and we were fed food not crap.

What is she going to do when that little girl goes to school? She will have to get her ares out of bed then,

What is her child/children going to do when she drops dead from a heart attack due to the way she lives?

Ronaldinhio · 21/06/2009 22:02

just an insane obsession with cleaning and routine
it felt to me like she was far from a fun filled bag of enjoyment.
I'm sure she's a great person but I like to think that there is time for letting things go too and enjoying the moment....

I think that there were things that they each could learn and luckily the young mother seemd ready and willing to do so.

Litchick · 21/06/2009 22:02

But she accepted she'd done wrng and was trying to make changes.

fishie · 21/06/2009 22:03

SCREAM. isn't this just what we are all meant to do. pick over the bones of the programme which has been edited to cause maximum fuss....

Alambil · 21/06/2009 22:03

I'm glad no-one can see how I live if this is the reaction it gets

Litchick · 21/06/2009 22:03

All my foster kids would soon knock that out of her he he.

Noonki · 21/06/2009 22:06

schoolgirl - some people will do anything to be on TV.

LovelyTinOfSpam · 21/06/2009 22:07

Tyke (cambridge dictionary):

1 UK INFORMAL a child who is badly behaved in a playful way:
Come here, you cheeky little tyke!

2 INFORMAL a young child

Oh shit I didn't realise, definitely going to stop using that one then.

Re the program; all was well that ended well. yes?
