To think MNet has really changed in the past few years...?

and not in a good way. It's become an awful place, really. I'm an ancient m'netter of circa 5 years and remember the days of pirate sex, fighting with other parenting forums etc and Cod's dyslexic ramblings. It was fun back then. Now it's a bitchfest.

arf, bald.

there is something interesting in the life cycle stuff though... something along the lines that those people who most slag off the ancien regime are subtly jostling to become the new one.

AitchTwoOh · 13/06/2009 20:15

or not so subtly.

scottishmummy · 13/06/2009 20:18

what are you on about?is this free association

there is no MN regime
it is composed largely of a silent majority, who post and get on with it.making valuable contributions

Ronaldinhio · 13/06/2009 20:21

are you suggesting the Scottishmummy wants to become president of mumsnet?

Ronaldinhio · 13/06/2009 20:23

And have a birthday parade where we all troop past in the perfect school run dress carrying a flag with flappy on it?

AitchTwoOh · 13/06/2009 20:23

not according to the well-worn life cycle of a forum. regimes build, they topple, new ones build, they topple...

you're the one on about cliques, you don't think there are any now? that's just daft.

'course i don't have an issue with there being groups of particularly pally people on here, but if you do, you should hate the ones coming up now, with their bumsex in-jokes, their sanctuaries, their friendships , just as much. i think it's healthy myself, and how people (particularly women) communicate. plus ca change and all that.

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/06/2009 20:27

Male cliques accepted in that acceptance Aitch?

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/06/2009 20:28

Oh what a shitty post that was. Sorry, watching something mindblowing on tv with Graham Norton and I realise now that my brain has run screaming from the room.

AitchTwoOh · 13/06/2009 20:28

sure, that's called dadsnet isn't it?

AitchTwoOh · 13/06/2009 20:29

no no, i turned my head and screwed up my eyes and got what you meant i think.

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/06/2009 20:29

Oh f* it, ignore what I wrote please

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/06/2009 20:30

WHY don't multiple asterixes (asterices?) work?

Jaquelinehyde · 13/06/2009 20:31

4 years for me and I still love it as much as used to.

I get the odd day where I dislike it, as we all do.

What I don't get is the constant moaning by people who don't like it anymore, just leave, take a break.

I also don't get the posters who don't seem to like anybody on here, you can bugger off too

drowninginclutter · 13/06/2009 20:34

It's tried to do bold on the middle one I think.

scottishmummy · 13/06/2009 20:34

cor its a big love in tonight

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/06/2009 20:35

F* * *

AitchTwoOh · 13/06/2009 20:36

AitchTwoOh · 13/06/2009 20:36

BoysAreLikeDogs · 13/06/2009 20:37

ooooh I did loads then, Ta DIC

AitchTwoOh · 13/06/2009 20:37

what ARE you on about, though, dg?

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/06/2009 20:39

Don't ask me! I was just trying to see if putting a gap between the * would help.

I am desultorily flicking through the channels trying to find something worth watching on tv. I am currently on a programme about punk rock which is quite entertaining.

Come on tv critic! What to watch at 9 o'clock?

It is a word that is easier to use in writing than it is to use it in speech.

Where is Aitch? Checking the Radio Times for me?

ThePhantomPlopper · 13/06/2009 20:44

Been here for 3 1/2 years now and last night was the only night I ever thought bad of this place and it wasn't the place as such, just one poster, who managed to piss all over my thread, (it was no biggy, just a pointless post, but it pissed me off) I was later contacted off board by a few people who saw and they made up for any bad feelings I was having about MN.

The good has always outweighed the bad on here, of course its changed, that's what happens.
