To think MNet has really changed in the past few years...?

and not in a good way. It's become an awful place, really. I'm an ancient m'netter of circa 5 years and remember the days of pirate sex, fighting with other parenting forums etc and Cod's dyslexic ramblings. It was fun back then. Now it's a bitchfest.

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 13/06/2009 19:26

sorry MN of yore wasnt a nice place.it was cliquey and always has had aggro

people far too readily said
"check the archives"
"been done before"
"are you newbie"
"yawn"

clique started lil in-joke threads were they would incite people to post then piss themselves that the hoiu polloi fell for it

by far the majority of posters are smart and funny posts just some visible trolls at mo

like everything MN has gone through changes.and fortunately posters are clever and spot the loons

EccentricaGallumbits · 13/06/2009 19:28

I agree. Is shite now. Far too much hugging and swappingofprams and bitchfest trolling.

chegirl · 13/06/2009 19:42

Its crap and its not crap.

That is my deep insight into MN of today.

Can be very very very funny.

Also totally brutal.

I am often scared and often laugh out loud.

Love the sweariness
Love the wit

I know a quite a few people who wouldnt survive 5 minutes on MNs. It would destroy their confidence. That is a shame but there are other forums that suit them better.

I have had a few horrible moments on here but I come back because there are a lot of sharp women on here.

Kayteee · 13/06/2009 19:47

Well I haven't been here that long and I'm addicted

I love it and am on a mission to catch someone out with the Soupy bat

I said "ffs" for the first time today too [chuffed emoticon]

scottishmummy · 13/06/2009 19:51

the fucking bat was another manifestation of cliquey MN of yore.hoho lookey, its a bat.oh me me me me know a joke

hate the bat (await some wag linking it now)

Yawn

Ronaldinhio · 13/06/2009 19:51

I agree mumsnet is getting a bit shit now

shall we set up a new site....?

scottishmummy · 13/06/2009 19:54

LOL a more ahem prestigious cliquey establishment

to chunter on about the good ole days like sad ole gumpers...nope did that everyone fell out

its fine as it is
thing is in 3-4 someone will rock up and say oi i miss MN used toe all laughs and gags with the trolls...

AitchTwoOh · 13/06/2009 19:55

but surely to get caught out by the bat thing was an inclusive rather than exclusive thing. you'd hardly have to have been there when the bat was discovered, it was just a trick link and could trick anyone and anyone could lol at. how is that cliquey? i'd say the opposite, tbh. not that i ever linked to it, i wouldn't know the url.

honeslty, i don't know how you've managed to put up with us all, SM, clearly the place drives you mad...

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/06/2009 19:56

Actually, the only rude comments I have read recently (directed at me) were from posters who pre-date me (member for over 5 years now).

name names, dg, i'll get 'em.

scottishmummy · 13/06/2009 19:58

MN is composed of its posters of course it evolves and grows

that is positive thing

mourning some bygone halcyon days isn't

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/06/2009 20:00

Would rather not Aitch. They are known to you and afaik, friends. Say no more, eh?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 13/06/2009 20:02

I like the bat

And a bit rich really SM to grumble about MNers being mean and cliquey and posting things like 'yawn' and then in your subsequent post to post 'yawn' (far too readily perchance??)

scottishmummy · 13/06/2009 20:03

yes too many people personalise MN.
honestly, what is point of grudges or gripes or MN history
i switch off and switch off

Overmydeadbody · 13/06/2009 20:03

Ronaldinhio · 13/06/2009 20:06

I honestly don't understand why anyone would continue to use a site that they thought was cliquey and grim
