dh is moaning that i spend too much money on ham, we have the money we are not short.

he doesn't mind the cheap stuff for about a pound a packet
but i think its horrible.i find it rubbery and watery even the stuff tht says no added water

i think ham is expensive but that seems very pricey ? I could never buy ham that expensive as the kids guzzle it by the pound in sandwiches, pasta etc

I buy it from the butchers and pay about £4 for 5 or 6 slices.

In fact I buy most of my cooked meat from there because it tastes so much better.

buy a good ham and cook it yourself - very easy, much nicer and better value

you only get what you pay for dh does not like the cheep ham so gets a better one

That's fine if it's carvery ham. I but a couple of slices of smoked turkey from the deli every week and that costs about £3, but I'm happy to pay as it's not crappy meat pumped with water.

sometimes i get the 68p per 100g one aswell. Think it's called carver ham. The more expensive one is honey roast.

I don't buy ham - Every couple of months I buy a gammon joint from the butchers, cook slice and freeze
Lovely in sandwiches at a fraction of the price.

I can understand why your DH thinks you need to cut back on your spending

I don't buy the cheap nasty value ham but there is usually middle ground and you can usually buy a pack of about ten slices for £2.50 or so. Or m&s sometimes do two packs for a fiver as do asda.

£1.13 per slice of ham is extortionate even by my standards.

It depends how 'nice' the ham is. 'Nice ham' is quite hard to come by and worth paying a bit more for IMO. I can't stand Tesco ham full of fatty / gristly bits. Even the cat won't eat it.

I would pay that for Nice Ham from Waitrose as would only have one sandwich each from it, and maybe just once every couple of weeks. Their crumbed ham is lovely.

can I ask though, is that your only extravagance? Or do you spend a lot on groceries generally?

Get NiceHam sliced at deli counter on a thin setting. More slices per £.

it's the main thing i like to have what i really like.

although we do enjoy our food and spend a fair bit tbh.
