and feel that I should keep it a secret (have name changed obviously) for fear of being lynched!!

It is a perfectly legal party that has been totally demonised in the media. I was even worried that I may be able to be traced from my ballot paper but I took the risk and voted for them because all the other parties are the bloody same and none of them have the guts to sort this country out. Suppose I'll never get to heaven now .

OP posts:
chipmonkey · 05/06/2009 17:52

OK, maybe you're right maybe some of them are intelligent racist bigots.

londonone · 05/06/2009 17:58

barnsleybelle - I don't believe you. Why you care about that I don't know.

wombleprincess · 05/06/2009 18:12

tiredemma thats because members of the bnp probably have a mental age of 8 at best.

sorry i really dont there is anything such as an intelligent racist!

SolidGoldBrass · 05/06/2009 18:26

What is happening is that a percentage of 'sensible' people (the sort of people who would probably describe themselves as 'ordinary, decent people' which has always been a synonym for 'bigoted fuckwits') and say it's because the local BNP representatives have been making tempting pledges to empty the bins more often, perhaps to halt an unpopular new supermarket development or get rid of a local parliamentary figure who is notably corrupt or incompetent. Such people will say that the BNP's racist, sexist and homophobic policies are only the work of a few extremist members and they are putting all that stuff behind them now.
Thing is, what these 'ordinary, decent' people are really thinking is 'Well, there are too many darkies and scroungers over here but you can't say it out loud, can you? And it's about time someone stood up to the Gay Mafia. And feminism has gone Too Far, women are binge-drinking, refusing to obey their husbands, claiming to have been raped and then having abortions for the sheer fun of it. It's about time we remembered that straight white men are inherently superior and theonly people who really matter, and to claim otherwise is a lie...'
DOn't kid yourself. If you vote for the BNP, that IS what you think and what you mean.

wannabe10 · 05/06/2009 18:37

I have read some of this thread but wanted to add my opinion but I apologise if I repeat anything said already...........
I read some comments on facebook today by a pro ish bnp supporter who said they had voted to 'show' the other parties. It was commented and I think this is a valid point that originally that is what happened in Nazi Germany. We CANNOT allow the bnp a foothold of any sort in politics.... Apathy and ignorance have terrible ends
Wombleprincess unfortunately there are several intelligent racists in the bnp hierachy. Thats how they can get away with it. The bain of my life are the eminent hostorians and very educated holocaust deniers. How? Why?
Anyway rant over.............

wombleprincess · 05/06/2009 18:47

I am sorry wanabe i have to disagree. definition of intelligence is "having the capacity for thought and reason especially to a high degree". racism is the belief that members of one race are superior to members of another race or other races. this demonstrates neither thought nor reason.

eminence and education are not the same as intelligence.

Jux · 05/06/2009 18:58

You voted for them "because all the other parties are the bloody same and none of them have the guts to sort this country out". And you really think the BNP will?

You are obviously ashamed of yourself otherwise you'd use your usual MN name here. I want to know who you are.

Greensleeves · 05/06/2009 18:58

great post by SGB there

and wombleprincess writing off racism as mere stupidity is a dangerous self-blinkering exercise - if we are going to defeat it, we have to engage with the fact that there are highly educated and articulate racists whose intellectual background in bigotry goes back as far and is as heavily substantiated as any other social philosophy. Distasteful, but true.

Dismissing fascists as idiots is the same as writing off Hitler as a stark raving lunatic, a one-off, a rogue psychopath - whatever he was, he was elected through the proper legal channels and represents a political cause/effect process which COULD HAPPEN AGAIN given similar enough conditions and a powerful enough personality.

Jux · 05/06/2009 19:01

I don't want to lynch you, btw, I just want to know who I'm talking to.

chegirl · 05/06/2009 19:03

How ironic that the OP makes reference to being lynched

Isnt that the organised racist's preferred/historical method of murder?

forehead · 05/06/2009 19:22

SGB your post hit the nail on the head.

Lizzylou · 05/06/2009 19:28

Shit, they got a seat on Burnley Council.

wombleprincess · 05/06/2009 19:28

i didnt write off racism as mere stupidity, i just said that i didnt think one could be intelligent and racist. again education does not equal intelligence.

having spent much time with BNP members on my doorstep i can tell you their "intelligence" is just an appearance and anyone halfwit could knock their arguments down with a feather leaving them floundering in a yeah but no but manner.

TheFallenMadonna · 05/06/2009 19:32

An intelligent racist wouldn't be likely to be doorstepping for the BNP I would imagine. Far more insidious than that.

ivhadenuff · 05/06/2009 19:35

3 county seats the bnp won, i am a life long tory, but f u k it i voted bnp for euro, iv had enuff the the lets all hate the white people routine. and i refuse to let my son be forced to eat hala meat at his school, its our right to vote who we like, ad e did, and didnt we do well, were growing, and when ppl realise the majority of the bnp are not racist the will change too. iv had enough of being treated unfairly in my own country by EXTREME LEFT WING POLITICIANS, the only counter for thre far left, is the far right!. just look how well we did... ladders and rungs, ladders and rungs...

TheFallenMadonna · 05/06/2009 19:37

Ah.

mrsruffallo · 05/06/2009 19:37

ivehadenuff- what do you mean by "hate the white people " routine

TheFallenMadonna · 05/06/2009 19:38

No, all the BNP and everyone who votes for them are racist. They might not like to think of themselves in that way, but it is certainly true.

duchesse · 05/06/2009 19:39

People can have such incredibly short memories. Our grandparents fought a second world war to get rid of people like the BNP, and now people are voting for them so that their kids don't have to eat a particular type of meat. < shakes head in disbelief >

Kayteee · 05/06/2009 19:39

And how old are you? About 12 by the sounds of it.

daftpunk · 05/06/2009 19:42

ivhadenuff...you're attempt to appear thick with the txt spk and crap spelling is needless....just type properly ffs.

barnsleybelle · 05/06/2009 19:42

Is it just me or was ivhadenuff's post written by a 5 year old? Half of it didn't make any sense... suppose that's to be expected.

Thunderduck · 05/06/2009 19:43

To say the BNP are not racist is nonsense.

chegirl · 05/06/2009 19:43

What is hala meat?

Ladders and rungs?

hate the white people?

Bnps voters not racist?

What are you on about?

Oh and did you just google BNP and take the opportunity to leap in when you came across this thread?

Well, having read your well thought out, well put together rant post, I have changed my mind and decided to vote BNP the next time round.

Yeah right

cory · 05/06/2009 19:44

londonone, there is no rule that says that because something is a well known urban myth, it cannot then happen

your idea seems to be that no BNP campaigner could possibly have said anything obviously outrageous because they are trying to keep squeaky clean

but it's not long since they did kick somebody out because what he said was so obviously provocative

so clearly he could say it

and if the chocolate cake thing is being circulated online/in the media, no reason why somebody else can't use it too
