to have voted for the BNP today

and feel that I should keep it a secret (have name changed obviously) for fear of being lynched!!

It is a perfectly legal party that has been totally demonised in the media. I was even worried that I may be able to be traced from my ballot paper but I took the risk and voted for them because all the other parties are the bloody same and none of them have the guts to sort this country out. Suppose I'll never get to heaven now .

pinkstarfish, why was it deleted?

pinkstarfish · 06/06/2009 11:53

I don't know, I've had no explanation.

clemette · 06/06/2009 12:07

londonone I appreciate you don't support the BNP, but you also refute that their policies are mirror images of those of the NSDAP in the 1920s. I assume this is because you don't understand the history, not because you are a sympathiser. Of course you can disagree with my opinions, but what I was stating was historical FACT. It is poor debating form to ignore facts that disprove your arguments (just as it is rude and antagonistic to call a stranger a liar!)

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 06/06/2009 12:14

Can you repeat it pinkstarfish in a polite(not saying the original wasn't polite, I didn't see it)or round-about-way, so that your opinion is recorded on here permanently?

junglist1 · 06/06/2009 12:18

Mine was deleted aswell , because it was abusive. I'll rephrase mine as you not so nice freeking flying broomstick owner

spokette · 06/06/2009 12:48

Georgimama, that poem sums up perfectly why one must vote.

Those who choose not to vote should also remember

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing".

HelloBeastie · 06/06/2009 14:00

Wanted to second what ruddynorah and poshsinglemum said about people genuinely believing that immigration is uncontrolled...

A few years ago I was filling out visa application forms for travel to Africa. When I mentioned the level of faff involved to my mum, she said, "That's just ridiculous! it's not like they need a visa to come here!"

She reads the Daily Mail, I'm sure that's completely unrelated to the ignorance though...

pinkstarfish · 06/06/2009 14:51

Something on the lines of.....I strongly disagree with the OP and question why they felt it was necessary to change their name and remain anonymous? To me, it comes across as a cowardly perhaps, and not to mention racist.

Also, did OP know that if all "non-whites" left the UK the entire NHS would collapse instantly. A vast amount, more than 50%, of the NHS is made up of wonderfully skilled and caring "non-whites". Maybe OP should think of that

Hope not hate all the way I say

Chen23 · 06/06/2009 19:01

not sure I can be bothered to trawl through the whole thread but I'm sure the OP will rightfully have been swamped by a tsunami of YABU's

Don't know if someone has mentioned this but by voting BNP the OP has pretty much stated that they are happy for their child to be legally forced to go through military training for 2 years after they finish their GSCE's (i.e. national service) after which they would be required by law to keep an assault rifle in their house.

Failure to agree with either of these things would result in your kids losing their right to vote and further education.

Hate to say it but you are being extremely unreasonable, it's blatantly obvious to any semi literate, empathic human being.

One last point..... Are your really happy voting for a party who's director of publicity is responsible for these gems (these are all documented and genuine, and this guy is still in the party)

ON WINSTON CHURCHILL ?Churchill was a f c* who led us into a pointless war with other whites standing up for their race.?

ON THE PRINCE OF WALES ?He?s a f traitor. Did you hear him say we needed more mosques in this country? All Muslims are anti-British terrorists.?

ON THE ROYAL FAMILY ?The Royals have betrayed their people. When we?re in power they?ll be wiped out and we?ll get some Germans to rule properly.?

ON AIDS A ?friendly disease because blacks, drug users and gays have it.?

ON JEWS ?There?s not a European country the Jews haven?t been thrown out of. When it happens that many times, it?s not just persecution. There?s no smoke without fire.?

ON ADOLF HITLER ?Hitler will live forever; and maybe I will.?

Chen23 · 06/06/2009 19:12

oops.....

not sure if I was clear enough in my post above, the national service and assault rifle nonsense is official BNP policy, not just some random comment I was making......

madlentileater · 06/06/2009 19:13

interesting comment about Churchill as one of their election broadcasts was all about D-Day, and how our brave troops fought to keep Europe free of dictators ...I think they even mentioned saving Jews....and therefore, it's only common sense that we keep british jobs for british workers.

chegirl · 06/06/2009 20:12

Back again
Thanks for the kind comments re my DD.

Just want to point out I didnt post a weirdly random comment about DD - it was in response to iveadenuff's weirdly random comment about his wife.

Still really gland that this thread is going and that the posts are intelligent and anti facist.

I have seen it go the other way on forums with a lot of 'well I am not racist but I can see why people vote BNP' sort of weasly comment.

No such bollox on MNs.

footinmouth · 06/06/2009 20:19

I think you're right chegirl. It's heartening to know that the majortiy of posts are 'anti-fascist'. There are more good people than bad in this world. I was watching the D-Day rememberance service earlier and it made me think that they (bnp) are totally at odds with anything humane!

londonone · 08/06/2009 01:49

stayfrosty - you said

"Are you arguing completely opposite points of view? Were you not answering clemette's post about adult debate - which was addressed to ivehad? Sorry if you're not that person, but tbh your views don't come across as that different (though your spelling's better)."

No I was answering clemette from way back in the thread! And yes if you read the thread you will see I am simply arguing that it is not appropriate for teachers to bring their own political opionions into the classroom.

clemette - I think you have rather misunderstood my point. As I have said I have no problem with you presenting facts as part of historical comparisons and I fully agree there are definite parallels between the BNP and the Nazis.
However you have said that you go further, that you choose to break the law (your own words) and I take that to mean that you choose to speak out against the BNP in the classroom. Ideologicaaly I agree with you however I do not think teachers should bring their own political opinions into the classroom because if you think you should be able to do that then you would have to accept a BNP sypathetic teacher doing the same thing.

georgiemum · 08/06/2009 12:24

I said someting really funny today. DP wasn't receptive enough so I shall tell you...

Radio 4 this morning had Nick Griffin being interviewed.

Presenter: blah blah, interview with Nick Griffin, apologies - for some reason there is a delay on the line .

Me (yelling at radio) 'because you are calling from 1937!'

well, I thought it was quite witty for me at breakfast time.

Hi chen23 .I am trying to find out more about the BNP (not cos I support them ,but because I want to be informed) where are you getting this stuff from ?

sassy · 08/06/2009 15:15

GOd, there is some depressing stuff on this thread. NOT from the vast majority I hasten to add, but from the 2(1?) who tried hard to defend the indefensible.

I felt sick when I saw the election results this morning. 2 seats . However, I was heartened to see that in my local council elections, the ward who had a BNP candidate have elected a Muslim man (a Tory, but you can't have it all). And this is a small town with a shameful history of racism.
So there is hope.

HellHathNoFury · 08/06/2009 15:20

I found out my Dad voted them.

I was incredulous.

I am married to a sodding Australian and my sister to an American! I asked my Dad if he was going to financially support me instead.

He honestly had no idea what I was talking about, and it did not register in his head that my Husband, who is white and upstanding and lovely, would be jobless and deported if everyone thought like my father.
He can't seem to get it in his head and he thinks I am overreacting!

katiestar · 08/06/2009 16:03

The scary tghing is that the BNP got nearly a million votes out of the 15m who could be arsed.
Amillion votes is a hell of a lot.I hope that people are voting for them as a kind of protest against the other parties and because they are feeling alienated and forgotten by the other parties, rather than because they actually believe in the BNP and what they stand for.I think people would vote very diffrently in ageneral election.Anyway given the strenght of the anti-Europe vote mayve we won't have any MEPs for very long !

HellHathNoFury · 08/06/2009 16:08

But even voting in protest is ignorant and potentially dangerous.

I don't think these people quite honestly realise WHY they are dangerous. It's like, people read one line and think, ooh that sounds good, without really understanding that they are voting them in to run the country, to be responsible for their kids education etc etc etc

I am pretty disgusted by my father, but sadly I just think he is one of the many, who for one reason or another, don't know any better.

katiestar · 08/06/2009 16:11

Well do the Euro MPs actually wield that much power ?

Chen23 · 08/06/2009 16:30

katiestar, the national service aspect of their mainfesto has been removed from their website (as has other unpalatable less fashionable things they're trying to keep quiet) but is still policy.

Mark Collet (ex head of young BNP and now director of publicity) is the guy responsible for the quotes above, most made whilst being filmed for a C4 documentary called "young, nazi and proud".

www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article633579.ece

He's just one of several very, very dodgy people still well embedded in the BNP.

Euro MPs wield a fair bit of power, the EU is an incredibly powerful organisation; they're are also in charge of hefty budgets.

duchesse · 08/06/2009 19:29

Georgie- My children were laughing themselves sick hearing the things he was saying. My 14 yr old decided that the BBC must have decided as an interviewing technique to ask extremely general questions that would get maximum twattishness out of him, and sure enough he didn't disappoint.

Will everyone who has contributed to this mammoth thread please see my thread in the politics section. I am trying to do something which will truly make a difference against the BNP and I can not do it without your support. If you contribute to this it will make a difference and be seen. Thanks very much! here
