It's such a comfy hairstyle in hot weather. But are people going to think I am some sort of wierd girly twat who believes in fairies and has soft toys all over her bed?

i like bunches
so long as they arent like well high up on your head

frogs · 31/05/2009 21:49

Yes. And yes.

What's wrong with a single ponytail?

random · 31/05/2009 21:50

yanbu. i have to have my hair in low bunches when i do yoga or else i can't lie down properly.

ninah · 31/05/2009 21:52

I know someone who wears plaits, she looks like Meryl Streep in that abba musical

ScummyMummy · 31/05/2009 21:52

Um, really sorry, SGB, but have to say I'm anti bunches in the over 10s. I think it looks like you want to be a little girl and aren't comfortable in your adult woman skin. It's prejudicial and wrong of me though and you should probably ignore scunners like me and go with what you like.

snigger · 31/05/2009 21:52

NOOOOO!!!

No bunches.

No Alice bands.

No braids.

If you're that hot, shave it.

HairyMuff · 31/05/2009 21:53

You will either look like a hippy or someone who wants to be 8 again.

Its a crap look in anyone over 10 I reckin.

inthemistsoftime · 31/05/2009 21:54

hey I am 43 and quite often wear plaits they take years of me.

itm waits to be flamed for being mutton dressed as lamb!!

Ewe · 31/05/2009 21:54

I wear my hair in bunches from time to time. Plait bunches to boot!
I am in my early twenties though and don't wear them out - only at home or popping to the shops.

If you do it because you like it then YANBU but stop pretending it's the only hairstyle you can wear to keep cool.

SolidGoldBrass · 31/05/2009 21:54

Right, am going to go to the Goth shop and buy some hair ribbons with skulls on and put my hair in bunches ALL THE TIME just to annoy the fuck out of boden-wearers and people who believe all that crap about 'dressing your age'....

No you are not being unreasonable.

If you don't mind people laughing at you.

SolidGoldBrass · 31/05/2009 21:56

Ewe, bunches are comfier (less scalp tension or something) than high ponytails or 'up-dos'. And I don't want to shave my head again cos then I will get it sunburned.

so ner

ninah · 31/05/2009 22:01

cool itm

Ewe · 31/05/2009 22:01

What about a casual low pony? Or I often just loosely bung it all up in a messy bun - that is quite comfy (unless you're lying on your back!).

If you're happy with it then fuck it, you don't strike me as the type to worry too much about what other people think!

nevergoogledragonbutter · 31/05/2009 22:02

i like them.
no high ones like nina and her neurons, but low ones if you've got long hair are fine.
not short shaving brush ones either though.

i prefer a low side ponytail though.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 31/05/2009 22:04

do it sgb

my attitude is - ten years from now i will think ' bollocks i was young then' who gives one? your life - i love bunches - and plaits and am 41

cornsilk · 31/05/2009 22:04

Sarah Jane wears bunches. She looks like a weird girly twat. If that's your thing, fine.

noddyholder · 31/05/2009 22:05

Low plaits and bunches ok if you look ok.I wear them from time to time and I;m old but i like them but only when i'm really dressed down no make up etc otherwise they look ridiculous

ScummyMummy · 31/05/2009 22:05

Just to clarify, bunches in your forties are no more ridiculous than in 30s, 20s or later teens, imo. I just think of them as little kid hairstylee so feel that donning them past adulthood is a bit akin to wearing a woman wearing a romper suit or startrite style mary janes or a smocked dress...

hf128219 · 31/05/2009 22:06

Just look very silly on anyone over 20

Morloth · 31/05/2009 22:07

By bunches do you mean pigtails? Like two ponytails on either side?

I think I probably would think you are a bit odd TBH, but hey it is your hair you should do what you like!
