Genuine observation here, not trying to stir anything. It just seems a lot less cliquey and bum-licky. My replies are recognised and appreciated. I hope newbies feel welcomed and that there isn't some barrier that you have to cross in order to become 'popular'.

Well?

Don't think they did mean you cod. You were old Royalty maybe, but you are mostly considered to be gone now. I think competitivenature meant others now...

Trying to work out who you are Goat. Just had brainwave. You are not someone who once had another name from Dr Seuss are you?

CouldYouWouldYouWithaGoat · 21/05/2009 16:19

dam i missed that [kicks coddar into life]

CouldYouWouldYouWithaGoat · 21/05/2009 16:20

yes ddg i generally have a goat based name.

FabioTheOccasionalCat · 21/05/2009 16:20

Oh was that her?
And to think she complains that I come and go too much.
Sheesh and that.

PS Hello Franny.

CouldYouWouldYouWithaGoat · 21/05/2009 16:20

sorry no, misread that i think my dr seuss names have always been fairly similar to this one.

Joggler · 21/05/2009 16:21

omg my cat

where HAVE YOU BEEN

OlympedeGouges · 21/05/2009 16:21

Disagree about the arch and dry wit. It is still here, concentrated perhaps into fewer threads and fewer posters, but definitely still here. Better actually.

hello fabs!

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/05/2009 16:21

Ah no, I did not mean another Dr Seuss goat name.

Rhubarb · 21/05/2009 16:22

I get you Aitch and I don't think the cod worship was entirely her fault. But when they started to namechange to please her, quote her, drop in hints about 'knowing' her, hanging onto her every word - it did grate a little. I've sparred with cod too and thought she was ok, she was well aware how irritating she could be, which is a quality we should all have!

There are people who've left that I really and truly don't care about at all. Never did and wasn't surprised to find out where they'd gone.

But all of this 'Mumsnet's changed' malarky is a bit dull. No-one's forcing you to be part of Mumsnet, there is a thing I've heard of called 'real life'. There are also more fitting forums for the likes of chatta called BabyWorld. Or if that doesn't float yer boat, I'm sure the Daily Mail has an online forum..

OlympedeGouges · 21/05/2009 16:22

MN is deathly boring at the moment though

Rhubarb · 21/05/2009 16:22

I take it cod is no longer incognito. If you are back cod, please leave the following behind eh?

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 21/05/2009 16:23

It's definitely different here now. Not so much ignoring certain members...

I still spend too much time on here though!

Ledodgy · 21/05/2009 16:24

Rhubarb I think you mean Incodnito.

I know. It was poor but I couldn't resist.

Joggler · 21/05/2009 16:27

No I dont want the " oh its cod" to continue as that is invading my right to privacy.
the guessing games is endless..

SO if you could just try not to do that, I know i am cod! its no surpise to me! I dont know why anyone would want to tell me that unless to annoy me.

FabioTheOccasionalCat · 21/05/2009 16:27

I have been checking out local schools.
As Well You Know.

And for everyone talking about cod worship you should try living with her.
The smell of whiskey is overpowering.

Rhubarb · 21/05/2009 16:27

Actually cod you do seem to have brought a few fans with you, so I'm off.

And for the record, there is nothing wrong with having a forum where everyone knows each other, can chat personally, help each other along and all that, that's lovely. But to close it's doors and veto who goes in? That's not as nice is it? That's just driving a huge wedge between 'them' and 'us' and you're intelligent enough to know that. So whilst I'm sure your defence of mouldies is genuine enough, it doesn't excuse the overall behaviour and attitude of the site and its members.

seeker · 21/05/2009 16:30

"I am now a poster on both fora and don't see why one needs to be exclusive."

Oh God - I was so determined not to post except to remind people not to feed the Moldies - but that REALLY takes the biscuit. Of course 'one needs to be exclusive" if one is not deemed worthy to join "the Other Place"!

Rhubarb · 21/05/2009 16:31

Very true seeker. It's lovely for them that they've got that site, all very safe and priviledged. Lucky them!

OlympedeGouges · 21/05/2009 16:34

i have to say the one thing that really annoys me is when Mouldies feel the need to remind us they are free to post here. Yes we know you can post here. Doesn't stop the fact that is rather rude to keep pointing
it out and ignoring both the irony and the double standard of that particular attitude.

MoatCleaner · 21/05/2009 16:34

"there is nothing wrong with having a forum where everyone knows each other, can chat personally, help each other along and all that, that's lovely. "

really rhubarb?

alongside:

"to close it's doors and veto who goes in? That's not as nice is it? "

surely those two statements are contradictory?

Bleatblurt · 21/05/2009 16:35

I always laugh when I read comments about how it isn't as funny/witty/interesting on here anymore. It's usually the ones saying that that haven't started any funny/witty/interesting threads in the last year.

I like MN, I liked it before and I like it now.

Yes Moatcleaner - durr! That was the point I was making. That there is nothing wrong with having a lovely, friendly, safe site - but to close it's doors to everyone else and to keep bragging about it on here - that's not on.

I see the contradiction there, pity they don't.
