Genuine observation here, not trying to stir anything. It just seems a lot less cliquey and bum-licky. My replies are recognised and appreciated. I hope newbies feel welcomed and that there isn't some barrier that you have to cross in order to become 'popular'.

Well?

Ledodgy · 21/05/2009 15:59

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/05/2009 15:59

No, we had to contend with rubbish about how Fruit Shoots would turn your child into a walking Asbo bomb instead.

CouldYouWouldYouWithaGoat · 21/05/2009 16:00

you don't get me that easily led!

Tortington · 21/05/2009 16:00

chatta you seem to imply you are obviously too intelligent and altogether better for this place now because it's dumbed down since all the intelligent ones left.

that's very up yourself love.

JackieNo · 21/05/2009 16:01

The lifecycle of a forum (is this the one that you mentioned earlier, Aitch?) - as you say - 'twas ever thus - that link is from 1995!

LOL Goat, chucking it in bin bags is packing imo. I can't even get to the bit where I have to think what a family of 6 might need.

CouldYouWouldYouWithaGoat · 21/05/2009 16:03

where are you going? will there be shops? lots of pants and socks and a couple of tshirts and you are covered.

AitchTwoOh · 21/05/2009 16:04

lol no jackie but it's similar. lol at mailing lists, how retro.

pingping · 21/05/2009 16:04

Oooo my bad I thought Chatta was Newbie.... In the old days we had PJ outside debates I think its just the same not much difference to me I am glad the likes of some of the oldies are still around though the funny ones this is the first thread in ages that I have noticed alot of old names its good to see

Rhubarb · 21/05/2009 16:05

Aitch, I think you'll find that I mentioned the cycle a few posts before yours!

You might not have recognised my description there because the vitriol was directed at just a few people disliked by the bunch.

But surely you must remember the cod worship threads that used to take over active convos and the arses who posted inane chat threads with the sole purpose of taking over active convos?

And talking about bumsex - who could forget HappyDaddy? Or FastAsleep's lesbian fantasies? Or the one where the Mumsnetter described to us in full detail about her usage of a vibrator - possibly whilst she was still using it!

Yes the old sparring has gone to a certain extent, but I'm sure that will be back in time.

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/05/2009 16:05

I wish. It is a bit of a specialist holiday with many potential options. Maybe it would be easier to hire a removal van and move the entire contents of the house?

CouldYouWouldYouWithaGoat · 21/05/2009 16:07

my mother used to shove everything in to a horse trailer. i think that is were my inability to pack comes from

but knitting is interesting!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 21/05/2009 16:11

I don't know why Chatta is worried about the Jeremy Kyle thread, it's mostly people laughing at him.
Or maybe the fact that someone has even seen it means they are Not One of Us?

AitchTwoOh · 21/05/2009 16:12

yes, but by the same token, those threads would get 1000 posts because they were funny and a good place to congregate. people weren't being forced to post on them.

i like cod, i'll always stick up for her if i think she's being given a hard time, and i'll always pull her up if i think she's mis-behaving. i don't think that's cod-worship, i think i always try to stand up for people if they're getting a hard time tbh. even you.

CouldYouWouldYouWithaGoat · 21/05/2009 16:13

and cod spotting is good fun.

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/05/2009 16:16

Well Goat I agree with you about the knitting...

Joggler · 21/05/2009 16:16

I know you lot are all talking about me( tis me cod) with all the refs to "royalty" so let me have a little say!

Firtsly some people were really nice to me when there was the big to do locally, I got a lot of lovely emails and thanks for that. I know i didnt deserve it and the whole thing was a steep learning curve.

I think i was very badly behaved often on Mn and i think the break did me good. I was often blunt, cross and rude. I am now a poster on both fora and don't see why one needs to be exclusive.

Although you all think I am like Janus at the doors of "moldies" I am merely a poster. And although you all think its horrendously Mn bitching -based they are pretty strict about it.( much to my occasional annoyance )
When i had my break I would peruse Mn and feel very hurt by the ENDLESS stream of veiled (and not so veiled) criticism of me. I am sure a lot of you think it serves me right and hey thats ok to think that. But just to let you know that it hurts sometimes.

I think Mn is great. I do think there is less arch and dry wit. I think there is a major preoccupation with sex. That is up to you lot to decide if it is good or not. Moldies has a very different vibe to it that I also like. Its intimate, people use names, adn people KNOW each other. That is lost on here, but Justine and team have created a finanically viable and successful site. (Who remembers when it was really hard up?!)SO I dont think you can haev one without the other.

I did notice while i was off that the more the people are pleased that the MN royalty( aka prolific posters) are gone, the more they step into the breach..... Intersting eh?

anyway- am off to change name, I like to be non traceable - excpet for the Mner keeping a record of my name changes..... I know who you are..

toodlepip!

Ledodgy · 21/05/2009 16:17

Well said Cod and well typed!

FrannyandZooey · 21/05/2009 16:17
