to think Mumset is a whole lot better post-Mouldiegate?

Genuine observation here, not trying to stir anything. It just seems a lot less cliquey and bum-licky. My replies are recognised and appreciated. I hope newbies feel welcomed and that there isn't some barrier that you have to cross in order to become 'popular'.

Well?

bitoffun..i'll have you know i'm very intello.....i just hide it on here to protect my RL identity...

I think it's a bit odd that people hark back to how MN was or complain about how it is - it's just how it is. It's just a bit pointless really.

If you like it, you like it. If you don't, don't use it.

Look you are all being far too english and polite about this. What really needs to be said is that it is crap now in comparison to before the big bang. There are threads galore talking about sex in a coarse manner and everyone is obsessed about the financial clout of the other posters. The water cooler moments are gone forever amongst the inane chat about how 'nice'everyone is now.I think the old posters return in the hope of re igniting the fire but it seems to be permanently extinguished and so they leave again and it is infintiely duller less fun and above all humourless. The newbies are only prickly because it is true otherwise why do these threads always have the most posts?

ClaireDeLoon · 22/05/2009 10:51

Well said WinkWinkola

Chatta I get the impression you desperately want to have been missed?

daftpunk · 22/05/2009 10:51

chatta..you just can't handle the fact that mn has moved on

merryberry · 22/05/2009 10:53

just popping on to raise the tone.

leaves

badapple · 22/05/2009 10:54

I'm not being English and polite. There is just as much good stuff as before. But it is worse because it is bigger. Any decline is to do with its growth, and has fuck all to do with the loss of a few individuals.

And here is something very unEnglish and impolite: any moldie who thinks that the absence of herself or her friends has somehow lowered the quality of posting on MN is incredibly, mind-blowingly, arrogant, complacent and self-deluded. Hell, even that is too English and polite.

Bleatblurt · 22/05/2009 10:56

I'll say it again. If it's less witty/intelligent/whatever why don't you shut up whining about it and actually post some witty/intelligent stuff??

All the ones saying that it's so much worse now are doing nothing but complaining and making it worse for others by incessant complaining.

Where's that rolley eyes emoticon when you need it?

Kathyis6incheshigh · 22/05/2009 10:57

Chatta are you Enid?

daftpunk · 22/05/2009 10:57

badapple...ignore her...she just wants a fight i think...obv a bit slow over on moldies atm.

bah why is anyone not singing your song a mouldie by default?

can no-one have a differing opinion?

OrmIrian · 22/05/2009 11:05

chatta - that isn't true. It's very funny a lot of the time. Not a newbie so no axe to grind.

chatta · 22/05/2009 11:05
Grin
hatwoman · 22/05/2009 11:07

I agree that it's less funny. and somehow less vigorous - but I think it has more to do with the growth of mn. It's so big now that I don't bump into familiar people/names very often, and, as is inevitable when a community grows, I think it's more diverse now - (in terms of people's politic and interests). For me - because the old profile fitted me well - that means I now find it hard to see the people I feel I have something in common with or find threads I really enjoy. I've found people I have interests in common with - dogs and running - which is lovely - but mn as a whole no longer feels like a community into which I slot. I remember some time ago someone comparing the bigger mn to a big town or city - when it used to be a village or small town.

So, like someone said below - it's probably not "worse", in fact, for some it's almost certainly better. but I don;t like it as much as I used to.

I blame Gina - and mn towers for being so good - not mouldiegate. moudliegate was a symptom.

OrmIrian · 22/05/2009 11:08

But you may be right that usemnants are thick as shit. What few brain cells my DC have left me are being eroded by too much internet usage.

hatwoman · 22/05/2009 11:09

[hat wonders why it took her a huge paragraph to say what badapple said in a sentence...]

badapple · 22/05/2009 11:09

So are you not a moldie then chatta? I couldn't imagine why anyone would believe what you did unless it was part of some self-promoting delusion. But perhaps you are a aelf-hating non mouldie?

THe site is worse in some ways because it is bigger; it is worse for me because friends have moved on, and because I've justseen enough of it. It is not dumber.

OrmIrian · 22/05/2009 11:09

'us remnants' that was at inevitable brain decay.

hatwoman · 22/05/2009 11:12

thanks for that orm - I was just staring at "usemnants" and wondering what this thing that had clearly passed me by was

Dumbledoresgirl · 22/05/2009 11:20

There probably is a dumbing down element to MN nowadays. Intellectuals will lament that.

OTOH, there aren't as many people telling others who are on the dumbed down threads that they are thick and beneath the elite.

Which is refreshing.

Ponders · 22/05/2009 11:22

I have ants in my kitchen atm - I wonder if they use mn

BitOfFun · 22/05/2009 11:24

Too busy, Ponders...shame, they would raise the standard for us

Tamarto · 22/05/2009 11:25

Why do people bother to browse a site that is boring and crap and less intelligent than it used to be?

Why bother posting to say that?

Surely if it upsets you that much a quick email to MN towers would be better.

Websites and forums evolve, they'd be w=very boring if they didn't, people change all the time it is a fact of life.
