Yes.. heinous "Thread about a Thread" crime, lol... but seriously...

AIBU to think people should either opt out of the leafleting or just shut up and throw them in the bin if they're not interested?

I would have something to say but as your first sentence included 'lol' I decline.

pingping · 21/05/2009 13:08

LOL YANBU

onagar · 21/05/2009 13:08

Well I was going to start one about postman who delivery enticing pictures of take away food when I'm trying to lose weight I think that is cruel!

What's wrong with 'lol'? It's used everywhere else.

KingRolo · 21/05/2009 13:09

Well, the whole point is that you can't opt out of the leafleting can you? the stuff just somes through the door unsolicited.

GypsyMoth · 21/05/2009 13:10

i agree...sooo....yanbu!!

its pathetic, whinging about it as if its the ONLY thing that we get through our doors that we don't want! its life, tough!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 21/05/2009 13:10

I use lol (but try not to), and never when it's not appropriate.

Was the op really lol at the thought of a thread about a thread?

HolyGuacamole · 21/05/2009 13:11

Ah, but if you opt out of leafleting, you don't get the bumf letters from the council telling when the bins are being collected etc.

MorrisZapp · 21/05/2009 13:12

Pointless thread. Why didn't you just make your point on the original thread.

This is just attention seeking, so YABU.

KingRolo · 21/05/2009 13:14

I don't think it's unreasonable to not want to see vile racist propaganda on my doormat in the morning.

StripeyOss · 21/05/2009 13:15

no, i was 'lol'ing at being naughty by starting a thread about a thread.

OP posts:
StripeyOss · 21/05/2009 13:17

which thread morris? there are at least three of them, all moaning about the same thing!

and king rolo, if you think everyone in the BNP is a 'vile racist' then you clearly have some issues and need to go educate yourself.

OP posts:
TheDevilWearsPrimark · 21/05/2009 13:17

Nor is that a 'lol' moment.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 21/05/2009 13:18

I'll just stop now, sorry, I am a mega grump today.

StripeyOss · 21/05/2009 13:18

Holy - the binmen drop those off here, not the postie.. they get stuck to the bin on collection day.

OP posts:
TheDevilWearsPrimark · 21/05/2009 13:18

lol

bigchris · 21/05/2009 13:18

how do you opt out of leafleting?

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 21/05/2009 13:19

KingRolo
Yes you can opt out of the crap interesting leaflets the post man puts through your door.
DP a postie and he has people on his delivery that opt out of having crap informative uninvited literature put through their door.

MadameCastafiore · 21/05/2009 13:19

I think it is reasonable for the Royal Mail to deliver whatever they are paid to deliver within the law - they are a business and people would soon moan if they weren't there and they had to choose between hundreds of private companies who would be far more expensive than the Royal Mail.

If you don't like it bin it!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 21/05/2009 13:20

Around here you either have a sign in tasteful colours and lettering on your front door or you have a tatty bit of paper blue tacked in the window, there are variations, going up and down the social scale.

I didn't know you could opt out - thanks for that IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern.

StripyOss - take it you're a BNP member? It strikes me as a racist organisation but I'm happy for you to educate me.

Don't mind the leaflets, although I do think they are a waste of paper. WHat drives me made is the littering of red elastic bands on my door step and all over our street by the postie!

MrsMattie · 21/05/2009 13:28

Was it the Royal Mail who delivered my leaflet a couple of days ago, I wonder? Neighbour said that the BNP had been canvassing in our area. They're bloody lucky I didn't catch them at my door, that's all I'm saying.

I do object to having leaflets put through my door telling me that my family should 'go home' - yes, actually, I do. I tore the leaflet up and put it straight in the bin. I'm not going to complain to the Royal Mail or anything. But I do wish I didn't have to come home from a nice day out with my kids in tow and find vile racist bullshit on my doormat.

StripeyOss · 21/05/2009 13:28

some are.. but calling everyone in the BNP a racist is like calling everyone in GreenPeace a grave robber, or everyone in Sinn Fein a terrorist.

you cant label a whole group based on a few arseholes.
