Really angry that the postman delivered a BNP election leaflet this morning

He handed it to us with the rest of our post (included a parcel so he rang the bell). Why is this racist cr*p allowed to be delivered with the post? Obviousy they're too spineless to put their hatred through people's letterboxes themselves. Am thinking of complaining to the post office.

Think some of you really ought to look into the BNP a bit more. Not that I agree with any of their policies. However, anyone who moans about foreign immigrants taking our jobs and taking free housing etc etc, shouldn't really moan about the BNP. Lets face it most of us have a moan about Polish immigrants at some point. I have had two leaflets and found neither of them racist. Not one word in the leaflet was racist. I do think you are all over reacting a little to say the least.

Nancy66 · 18/05/2009 13:10

Walkingwiththighosarus - tightly controlled race hate laws mean the BNP are unable to be too explicit on their website or in their leaftlets but nobody should be left in any doubt as to just how vile their true opinions are.

Controlling immigration is reasonable - repatriating anybody of colour even if they were born here and hold a British passport is not. That's what the BNP want to do.

cestlavie · 18/05/2009 13:14

Walkingwiththighousaurs: um, a brave viewpoint. I think I'd just say that there are a couple of assumptions that are little erroneous.

  1. Most of us have a moan about Polish immigrants at some point - do we? I don't. No one else I knows does. In fact nobody in the area seems to and we live in an area with a huge amount of Polish immigration.
  1. Anyone who moans about foreign immigrants etc. - even if people do, that is a very long way from agreeing with the BNP's policies of stopping effectively all immigration and looking to repatriate immigrants already over here.
peanutbutterkid · 18/05/2009 13:18

I got my BNP leaflet today.
I find it amusing, as I am an immigrant!
When they pledge to stop 80million Muslim Turks from swamping Britain, don't you think that's a bit too specific -- about the religion, at least. I am surprised that could be accepted by Royal Mail's own political-leatlet vetters. Are all Turks Muslims?

The July 2008 estimate of Turkey's population was just under 72 million; where will the other 8 million come from? If all 80 million come to Britain, does that mean all 62 million of us can go live there? Might be a grand plan, I hear tell the weather is better over there...

Most importantly, who will serve me drinks by the pool if I go on holiday in Britain if their natives have all left??

I don't find the BNP leaflets any more inflammatory than UKIP's literature, though.

peanutbutterkid · 18/05/2009 13:19

Aaaackk... "go on holiday to southern Turkey" (not "to Britain"). I am trying to hard to be cute aren't I??

pinkmagic1 · 18/05/2009 13:23

This came with our post last week, definitely had racist undertones, found the bit about soldiers being abused by Muslims on UK streets particularly offensive.

georgiemum · 18/05/2009 13:25

They have just been talking about this on Radio 4. Aparently they have to because of the Post Office charter.

Pop it in an envelope (not stamped) with a whole lot of other unwanter junk mail and post it back to them.

Just out if interest... do they want to bring back to the UK all the brits that retire to the Costa Brava?

pinkmagic1 · 18/05/2009 13:25

Nancy 66, good job he didn't knock on our door, DH is Muslim and would have punched his lights out!

MissClavel · 18/05/2009 13:31

I ripped mine up last week and sent it straight back to them. It was v satisfying.

The address was 'admail' something - I think it was a freepost one - so with any luck it'll cost them something.

georgiemum · 18/05/2009 13:34

Nancy66 - what a laugh. My mum would have torn him a new oriface (she did love it when people rang the doorbell to try to sell/convert her).

I still chuckle about the BNP activist who had (still has, I suppose) a wife from Asia (not sure whereabouts). She used to make the sandwiches for their meetings. Then they realised she was 'foreign' and he was thrown out of the branch. He couldn't understand why.

RaggedRobin · 18/05/2009 17:47

walkigwiththoughosaurs: this is a quote from the bnp's constitution:

"The British National Party stands for the preservation of the national and ethnic character of the British people and is wholly opposed to any form of racial integration between British and non-European peoples. It is therefore committed to stemming and reversing the tide of non-white immigration"

if you don't consider that to be racist, then i'm not sure what definition of racist you are working from.

RaggedRobin · 18/05/2009 22:03

and if you prefer your anti-nazi rants to be funny, you can't beat a bit of charlie brooker

chegirl · 18/05/2009 22:27

The BNP NOT racist?

FFS.

I dont need to 'look into' the BNP thanks very much. And no I dont moan about immigrants as it goes. Why should I? IME most people who rant on about immigrants have never bloody met one.

Yeah as a very funny Asian comedienne puts it 'those bloody Polish immigrants, coming over here with their bloody work ethic'

The BNP are a bunch of racist thugs run by a Holocaust denying wanker.

But hey they just want whats best for the old folks and the kiddies dont they? Bless their shaven little heads.

chegirl · 18/05/2009 22:31

It must be reallllly confusing for the BNP now so many immigrants are white. I can imagine their little brains all a-whir trying to work it out.

I hope I am in when they post one of their leaflets through my letterbox.

YanknCock · 18/05/2009 23:24

I did 'look into' the BNP when I got some very racist crap through my letterbox a few years ago. Being married to a Black British man at the time, was interested to learn they wanted to send him 'back' to Jamaica (he'd visited there twice in his life), along with his very hard-working parents who'd been here over 40 years (the majority of their lives). That was really all I needed to know.

Even though I'm white, they don't want me here either. I work as a public servant, pay taxes, hold a British passport. How many of us 'forriners' are paying taxes to support white British-born people who've never done a day's work in their lives, I wonder? (thinking of some BNP-leaning people I know who think they're not getting their 'due' because of immigrants, yet have never worked themselves!)

MrsMerryHenry · 18/05/2009 23:30

Walkingwiththigosaurs - have you looked at the BNP's website? Perhaps you should...educate yourself, my dear.

(Hi, Yank!)

I received the leaflet this morning. Wanted to send it back filled in, asking if next time they'd include more ethnic minorities in the photos .

Then again they're so thick they wouldn't get it...

Seriously. I heard the deputy leader on the radio a few weeks ago and I realised why people say the BNP are so thick. It's not a cheap insult, it's the truth. Scary.

MrsMerryHenry · 18/05/2009 23:34

Raggedrobin, thank you so much for that link.

"Nick Griffin's first line [in their promotional vid] is "Don't turn it off!", which in terms of opening gambits is about as enticing as hearing someone shout "Try not to be sick!" immediately prior to intercourse."

I love Charlie Brooker.

RaggedRobin · 19/05/2009 17:32

me too! i have a wee crush on him!

duchesse · 19/05/2009 17:38

Yank- that's their main electorate I think.

KingCanuteIAm · 19/05/2009 17:38

Well my leaflet arrived today, sadly the dog got it before I managed to read it - no really! I knew there was a good reason to have a dog

lolaandned · 19/05/2009 17:51

i agree the bnp are racist eegits and all their leaflets should be binned but just have a look on the yahoo messga e boards i could not believe the amount of england for the english type rubbish their the bnp are dangerous in this political climate obviously loads of people are thinking of voting for them which is very worrying

KingCanuteIAm · 19/05/2009 17:53

Wasn't the same thing said last time though? In the end hardly anyone voted for them (well not compared to the number of people who had said they would). People were saying it because they wanted to get the point across to the main parties that they were not happy and they needed to buck their ideas up.

Hopefully that is what will hppen this time round too.

mehgalegs · 19/05/2009 19:55

Tie it to a brick first foxy to make the postage even more

twinmam · 19/05/2009 20:20

Posted mine back (minus stamp) with a note saying I didn't want their racist filth in my home... wish I'd thought to put it in a massive envelope along with something really heavy - good plan!

knockedgymnast · 19/05/2009 20:32

At the weekend, we were 'treated' to hand delivered leaflets through our door.

They came marching down our street with black jackets on with BNP on the back. Very odd and a bit scary
