Really angry that the postman delivered a BNP election leaflet this morning

He handed it to us with the rest of our post (included a parcel so he rang the bell). Why is this racist cr*p allowed to be delivered with the post? Obviousy they're too spineless to put their hatred through people's letterboxes themselves. Am thinking of complaining to the post office.

The BNP should be actively encouraged to participate in public debate etc, so that they then lose the figleaf of 'marginalised underdog' and are given the rope with which to hang themselves.

The BNP are a tiny party with no MPs. Yet the debate about them belies this. The only reason we debate them at all is that they are controversial. Fact is, their policies are shite and if they had the opportunity to demonstrate this then we could all move on and simply treat them as the rank ousiders that they are.

They get such disproportionate coverage in the media, it is v grating. Reminds me of that miniscule religious cult in the US made up of one family, who have achieved worldwide notoriety for their vile views about gay people.

disillusionedmum · 21/05/2009 14:01

Almost every society in the world will have some extreme form of "nationist anti other" BNP -like group either openly active like the BNP or working undercover because it can't legally function as a party. A good way of opposing them is not to vote for them yes but another way is to be open about debating some of the "sensitive" issues they brazenly use as slogans; such as immigration. Yes many people are fed up of there being so many foreigners in the UK and yes many people have a very perverted understanding of Islam and Muslims, but that is hardly akin to being an actual BNP member! So, we shouldn't be nervous about publicly addressing the issues they use so craftily and so stamp them out. When they no longer have water to wade in they will be no more worrying than a speck of dirt. For now they are more like a buzzing mosquito.

Horton · 21/05/2009 14:18

Have just realised that that horrible Eriksen man lives round the corner from me. Yuk.

InternationalFlight · 21/05/2009 14:30

I agree with the general view that they are free to distribute their shite - nobody intelligent would vote for them anyway. So hopefully that means they'll never get a majority.

Nancy that is really funny

InternationalFlight · 21/05/2009 14:34

Oh and I might as well add, I'd been wondering what kind of person would belong to the organisation since the list was leaked a while back. There's a guy in the same street as our school, and the other day I saw him...about 80 years old, in an electric wheelchair, scruffy as fuck, looks very very disturbed and possibly senile.

I don't suppose many of their actual supporters are very sane or sensible people...paranoid, mentally ill, perhaps. And that doesn't mean everyone with paranoia or MH issues supports the BNP...I don't - but it makes sense that there'd be a high proportion of disturbed people on that list.

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 21/05/2009 21:24

Oh hurray, I feel like I've finally joined in, we had ours this morning. I shall be sending it to their admail address with a pert little note saying 'WTF has Trafalgar got to do with anything, morons? Stick Nelson's column up your arse - not voting for fascists!' and I might put a couple of those religious tracts that look like money in too.

I have a lovely mental image of a troglodyte opening it and going 'Oooh, cash! Who's Nelson?'

Twats.

POSTED THIS ON THE OTHER THREAD,
But thought I would add it here too. Two threads very confusing

people may not like what they have to say but they have a right to say it, its called free speech and we are lucky to have it.

No one makes you read the trash they print just bin it.

My friend and I once went to vote and a BNP member was at the polling station, my friend voted then went up and shook the blokes hand saying good job keep the black b*** out.

It was so funny and got in to the local papers, the look on the BNP blokes face was hilarious because my friend is Jamaican and black.

Not the postmans fault he has to deliver it.
Bin it and forget about it

duchesse · 21/05/2009 22:17

Kimi, your friend is hilarious. I would have paid good money to see the look on BNP guy's face!

chegirl · 21/05/2009 23:00

hmmm, whilst I do agree that the majority of BNP members are morons and their policies are so ridiculous they would crumble if elected --- its hard to look at this logically if you have black children IYSWIM.

These people think my kids are monkies and my husband subhuman. They do not think they deserve any kind of consideration and despite having 'British' heritage going back hundreds of years, are not welcome here.

Hate crime goes up when the BNP gets a foothold in a community. I dont want my kids bullied and beaten and my family threatened.

pinkcake22 · 22/05/2009 00:59

chegirl you are so right. the thought of even getting a flyer through the door disgusts me and makes me so angry. i have an 11 week old baby who is mixed race, white and asian. from reading the BNP policies they would call her a mongrel and it would be illegal for me and my partner to be together! and i dont fully understand there stupid policy on paying non british people to 'go back' to there country of origin it seems like what they actually mean is non whites. ive started crying now which i know is ott and stupid but started thinking bout someone trying to take my baby girl away from me!

my point anyway is that when it is relating to your family- your children who u want to protect- it is hard to be rational eg 'just throw the flyer in the bin etc'

twinmam · 22/05/2009 09:20

pinkcake. PLEASE don't let these morons upset you and please remember that they are in a very tiny minority. Your reaction is exactly why I didn't bin my leaflet and why I sent it back to the bastards telling them I didn't want their racist filth. It is disgusting and there is a line between free speech and invading people's homes with offensive materials that will upset them. I'm sure the BNP would love pasty white blonde-haired blue-eyed me and my equally anglo-saxon looking children and yet I still found getting a leaflet from them made me angry and upset, not because there was any attack on my family but because I abhor them and what they stand for. I'm not too keen on the Conservative Party but I managed to quite happily stick their leaflet in the bin without a second thought. There is more to this than just putting a BNP leaflet in a bin. Without wishing to invoke Godwin's Law people put their head in the sand in 1930s Germany.

pinkcake22 · 22/05/2009 14:48

thanks for ur message twin- i will happily send a leaflet back to them with a nice meaasage attached if i recieve one. tbh i doubt we will as the town that i live in is a good mix of every1 . i could go on and on as subject does make me angry but wont cus i'll end up writing an essay!

drlove8 · 24/05/2009 21:51

BNP/ RACISM IS STUPID! - thought all life originated somwhere that is now in Africa, going with that theory, its means the stupid stupid bnp people(if you can call bigots people) should be able to trace their families back to the origional african ansesstors! lol.... ...if they only had a brain!

mamas12 · 24/05/2009 22:43

Wow been away therefore not online and am really pleased that my idea (hope I was the first to think of it) of SEND THEM BACK has caught on.
I did put a stamp on it so they would get it though as someone pointed out they might not pick them up if they knew there was a lot to go pick up and pay for.
I actually shook and was so surprised at a physical reaction to this being delivered to my home that I worried my kids, cue a great incentive to reinforce how utterly wrong they are.
Come on everyone keep on SEND THEM BACK

trulyscrumptious43 · 25/05/2009 23:06

I sent mine back last week to the address on the back, including a hand written (!) letter telling them that I disagreed with their beliefs, and not to send me any more racist rubbish.
It did give me a good talking point with the kids though, an oppurtunity to discuss racism.

TheYearOfTheCat · 25/05/2009 23:58

Haven't read the whole thread - sorry too late.

However, my rusty understanding of the Race Relations Order (it is an amendment - I can get the reference tomorrow) is that the Royal Mail is probably breaching the 'good relations' duty imposed under the RRO by distributing the material.

Complain to the Equality Commission.

pecanpie · 26/05/2009 11:45

I think I have missed a few pages of the thread as i've not read for a few days, but I found out something interesting today... For every BNP MEP elected, the party will receive £250k of taxpayer's money to add to their warchest. The only way to stop this is to exercise your right to vote - and because of the voting system for these elections, voting for one of the major mainstream parties will make the most difference to keep them out!

drlove8 · 26/05/2009 13:22

LOL Truly - you scraped some good out of the bad there ! ....great idea turning it to teach the kids about racism.... so the bnp (british nutjob party) has helped educate children that their a bunch of racist twats who are wrong, genius!
