Thinking these policies might work for an MEP? (albeit maybe not Katie Hopkins)

Fledge · 13/05/2009 13:35

Katie Hopkins' character has been discussed to death. Let's talk policies for mumsnet.

Let's pretend it could be Ruth Badger standing as an MEP, or Jordan, or a WAG, or Cameron from Big Brother, or Will Young, Alexandra Burke (X Factor), or Jade (Eurovision).... you get the point.

So here are the policies... and remember Tony Blair's Pledge card was even shorter when you read them...

Britain and Europe ? Involved but not dissolved

Voting numbers fell below 50% in the last European elections in 2004 - way below the number voting in reality TV shows. ???? is taking an independent stand for integrity, putting real people at the heart of democracy.

INTEGRITY
A straight talker taking an independent stand for Integrity

A stand for open and honest democracy where everyday people make the decisions based on common sense.

ARMED FORCES

An ex-army woman speaking up for armed forces and their families

A stand for a higher standard of life on base, in theatre and at home.

SMALL BUSINESS

A small business owner supporting job creators and income providers

A stand for building a prosperous economy from the bottom up.

THE ROCK
A west country woman wanting to give a real voice to Gibraltar.

?The people here are straight talkers. Politicians never answer the question, I am standing as someone who is prepared to tell it like it is.?

WORKING MOTHERS

A mother of three small children championing
women at work [Ed. substitute facts as necessary - mother/aunt/uncle/cousin/godparent/brother/sister]

A stand to support womens ambitions in business.

FARMERS AND FISHERMEN

A daughter of a farming family respecting small producers

A stand for British farmer?s rights to a sustainable income, and our fishermen?s rights to fish British waters first.

BY WAY OF COMPARISON:Tony Blair's 2005 Pledge Card:

[http://www.independent.co.uk/news/blairs-six-pledges-set-battle-lines-for-the-general-ele ction-1530163.html]

THE PLEDGE CARD

1 Your family better off: Continuing policies which have "delivered economic prosperity".

2 Your family treated better and faster: Reiterating details in the health five-year plan.

3 Your children achieving more: Wrapping up promises such as all secondary schools' specialist status.

4 Your children with the best start: Child care, children's centres and out-of-school activities.

5 Your community safer: Labour's law and order pitch.

6 Your country's borders protected: Promises of action on immigration.

Found this on Ms Hopkins website:

"You made your decision. You chose to have a family. If you want to take time off to commit yourself to that family ? marvelous. Give yourself a motherhood medal and sign up with mumsnet. But don?t expect to be in the same league as the women who are grafting their way to the top."

She is a cock.

I am having lasagne for my dinner. Nom Nom.

BigBellasBeerBelly · 13/05/2009 17:07

I wonder if xenia et al would take issue with ms hopkins "grafting" comments.

Or maybe not. maybe it is acceptable to become a member of MN if you are already at the top.

TheCrackFox · 13/05/2009 17:09

Xenia would whip her arse. I don't agree with everything Xenia says but she is a lot more successful than Katie "look at me, look at me" Hopkins.

BigBellasBeerBelly · 13/05/2009 17:18

crackfox the arsewhipping comment re katie and xenia has probably thrown fledge into paroxysms of lust

PortoPandemico · 13/05/2009 17:21

Has fledge pissed off now? I couldn't believe finding her slagging off mumsnet in her blog. Tee hee

MummyDragon · 13/05/2009 18:05

Perhaps she has gone to puree something

PortoPandemico · 13/05/2009 18:49

His/her/its head, hopefully! Sounds like nature already had a head start!

BigBellasBeerBelly · 13/05/2009 19:29

Isn't fledge on another random thread about this woman that I can't even be arsed to read?

wolfnipplechips · 13/05/2009 19:47

Yes bella more than one. I have read over some of KH's opinions on her blog and have decided shoe throwing would just not be enough.

Fledge · 14/05/2009 15:01

Wolfie... a number more than one could be as many as... two. Shocking! But, and here's the trick, this thread isn't even about Katie Hopkins.

READ THE INTRO!

OP posts:
KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 14/05/2009 15:11

OK, rereading the interminably silly intro, why would there be a mumsnet policy about fishing?

Fledge · 15/05/2009 09:58

KayHarker (who's mumsnet nickname I continue to admire the synergy of) - a policy on fishing is important if you are a fisherwoman or a fisherman or are married to someone who fishes for a living (or if you would like your children to be able to fish near to your home country in years to come!).

This article is quite revealing:

OP posts:
Fledge · 15/05/2009 10:00

KayHarker - a policy on fishing is also quite important if you, and/or your family and friends, like to eat fish; and would like to continue eating fish in years to come.

Some species of Fish are at risk of being fished to extinction.

OP posts:
PortoPandemico · 15/05/2009 10:20

God - I can't believe you're STILL here. Should ignore, but bored.....

Just presuming that MNetters care about fish, what does Katie intend to actually DO about this problem then? Is she more on the side of the fishies, or the people who make a living from catching them?

And as it's Friday, does she have a Bumsex policy? That would be of more interest to most MNetters.

wolfnipplechips · 15/05/2009 10:26

Yawn that was so 2 days ago fledge. I'm so over Katie.

OlympedeGouges · 15/05/2009 10:30

'Some species of Fish are at risk of being fished to extinction.'

You must think we are complete and utter idiots Fledge. 'Mumsnet' is not a homogeneous
group of women who all think the same because they are mothers. I would guess that about 70% of Mumsnetters only buy fish from a sustainable source/that has been responsibly farmed or fished. The others are probably thinking about cost. But Mumsnet itself, at the risk of pointing out the bleeding obvious, could not possibly have a 'policy' about anything outside the realms of its own chatroom rules, that would be patronising and ridiculous.

Why don't you just come clean about your links to Katie Hopkins? It is extremely rude to keep lying to us about you not having any personal or professional links to her, again, you must think we are complete idiots. How can you expect us to engage seriously with you when you have been so disingenuous? The only other alternative is of course that you are stark raving bonkers, which is quite plausible.

wolfnipplechips · 15/05/2009 10:39

I'm holding on to the hope that fledge is one of katies lovers ex wives, because that would be genius.

OlympedeGouges · 15/05/2009 10:40
Grin
GentlyDoesIt · 15/05/2009 10:45

Gah, now that I've seen this thread I'm sorry I reignited the other one now.

Someone has the campaigning savvy of Trago Mills.

PortoPandemico · 15/05/2009 10:48

So Fledge, bumsex then? For or against?

OlympedeGouges · 15/05/2009 10:53

Ah now there is a Mumsnet policy on bumsex, obviously.

I can just imagine KH's next blog - 'Those awful foul mouthed women on Mumsnet are a threat to the morality of our nation'

PMSLBrokeMN · 15/05/2009 10:57

I've never participated in bumsex threads, aren't they just an urban legend? Not that I'm fascinated, or anything

PortoPandemico · 15/05/2009 11:30

No, no - they are real! I have learnt some VERY interesting stuff. Not necessarily stuff I would put into practice but interesting none the less!

Where's Fledge gone? Looking up more pointless links?
