Thinking these policies might work for an MEP? (albeit maybe not Katie Hopkins)

Fledge · 13/05/2009 13:35

Katie Hopkins' character has been discussed to death. Let's talk policies for mumsnet.

Let's pretend it could be Ruth Badger standing as an MEP, or Jordan, or a WAG, or Cameron from Big Brother, or Will Young, Alexandra Burke (X Factor), or Jade (Eurovision).... you get the point.

So here are the policies... and remember Tony Blair's Pledge card was even shorter when you read them...

Britain and Europe ? Involved but not dissolved

Voting numbers fell below 50% in the last European elections in 2004 - way below the number voting in reality TV shows. ???? is taking an independent stand for integrity, putting real people at the heart of democracy.

INTEGRITY
A straight talker taking an independent stand for Integrity

A stand for open and honest democracy where everyday people make the decisions based on common sense.

ARMED FORCES

An ex-army woman speaking up for armed forces and their families

A stand for a higher standard of life on base, in theatre and at home.

SMALL BUSINESS

A small business owner supporting job creators and income providers

A stand for building a prosperous economy from the bottom up.

THE ROCK
A west country woman wanting to give a real voice to Gibraltar.

?The people here are straight talkers. Politicians never answer the question, I am standing as someone who is prepared to tell it like it is.?

WORKING MOTHERS

A mother of three small children championing
women at work [Ed. substitute facts as necessary - mother/aunt/uncle/cousin/godparent/brother/sister]

A stand to support womens ambitions in business.

FARMERS AND FISHERMEN

A daughter of a farming family respecting small producers

A stand for British farmer?s rights to a sustainable income, and our fishermen?s rights to fish British waters first.

BY WAY OF COMPARISON:Tony Blair's 2005 Pledge Card:

[http://www.independent.co.uk/news/blairs-six-pledges-set-battle-lines-for-the-general-ele ction-1530163.html]

THE PLEDGE CARD

1 Your family better off: Continuing policies which have "delivered economic prosperity".

2 Your family treated better and faster: Reiterating details in the health five-year plan.

3 Your children achieving more: Wrapping up promises such as all secondary schools' specialist status.

4 Your children with the best start: Child care, children's centres and out-of-school activities.

5 Your community safer: Labour's law and order pitch.

6 Your country's borders protected: Promises of action on immigration.

BigBellasBeerBelly · 13/05/2009 16:02

I don't see anything wrong with her top tips.

I always leave a long list of tasks for my team to take care of while I am away. What alphamummy doesn't?

I hate it when people state the bleeding obvious as if it's the first time anyone has ever thought of it.

pingping · 13/05/2009 16:03

Sounds amazing Ping (is there anything better than superwoman I wonder? Wonderwoman perhaps? Are they equal in amazingness?)

I suspect I am in a rather low league - MA student with two part time jobs and a little bit of freelance proofreading/translation. I feel a bit of a fraud actually because I'm not a mother but am planning to be in two/three years' time and currently enjoy the benefit of the wisdom on MN!

Makeda · 13/05/2009 16:12

I was joking about leagues btw

pingping · 13/05/2009 16:14

Makeda · 13/05/2009 16:20

I am rather bored with revision and have almost finished a packet of chocolate buttons, but there are five left - does anyone want them (they are a bit sticky from being left in a sunny spot)?

VinegarTits · 13/05/2009 16:20

I think feldge is needing to make himself feel all powerful by trying to out smart, what he thinks must be a a bunch of (to quote KH) 'female simpering dolts'

Whats the matter fledge? is a dw a high flyer whos make you feel inferior, aww didums

Are you doing the school run?

Makeda · 13/05/2009 16:22

VinegarTits · 13/05/2009 16:28

i'm such a dolt

MummyDragon · 13/05/2009 16:28

I suppose Alan Sugar is sexy in a Father Christmas-ish sort of way ... I quite like that wheeler-dealer blokey who always interviews the final 4 candidates towards the end of the series, he is obviously a really clever b*gger. Brains are good! (Sorry, Fledge).

Last biscuit gone now

MummyDragon · 13/05/2009 16:30

Oh, but I'm not 25, unlike ping (am - erm - in my mid-to-late thirties) so yes, ping, perhaps you are the only one!!!

Makeda · 13/05/2009 16:33

I am trying to get my head around the 'Alan Sugar is sexy in a Father Christmas-ish sort of way' - is it the beard? Does he bring pressies in the middle of the night?

pingping · 13/05/2009 16:33
