Thinking these policies might work for an MEP? (albeit maybe not Katie Hopkins)

Fledge · 13/05/2009 13:35

Katie Hopkins' character has been discussed to death. Let's talk policies for mumsnet.

Let's pretend it could be Ruth Badger standing as an MEP, or Jordan, or a WAG, or Cameron from Big Brother, or Will Young, Alexandra Burke (X Factor), or Jade (Eurovision).... you get the point.

So here are the policies... and remember Tony Blair's Pledge card was even shorter when you read them...

Britain and Europe ? Involved but not dissolved

Voting numbers fell below 50% in the last European elections in 2004 - way below the number voting in reality TV shows. ???? is taking an independent stand for integrity, putting real people at the heart of democracy.

INTEGRITY
A straight talker taking an independent stand for Integrity

A stand for open and honest democracy where everyday people make the decisions based on common sense.

ARMED FORCES

An ex-army woman speaking up for armed forces and their families

A stand for a higher standard of life on base, in theatre and at home.

SMALL BUSINESS

A small business owner supporting job creators and income providers

A stand for building a prosperous economy from the bottom up.

THE ROCK
A west country woman wanting to give a real voice to Gibraltar.

?The people here are straight talkers. Politicians never answer the question, I am standing as someone who is prepared to tell it like it is.?

WORKING MOTHERS

A mother of three small children championing
women at work [Ed. substitute facts as necessary - mother/aunt/uncle/cousin/godparent/brother/sister]

A stand to support womens ambitions in business.

FARMERS AND FISHERMEN

A daughter of a farming family respecting small producers

A stand for British farmer?s rights to a sustainable income, and our fishermen?s rights to fish British waters first.

BY WAY OF COMPARISON:Tony Blair's 2005 Pledge Card:

[http://www.independent.co.uk/news/blairs-six-pledges-set-battle-lines-for-the-general-ele ction-1530163.html]

THE PLEDGE CARD

1 Your family better off: Continuing policies which have "delivered economic prosperity".

2 Your family treated better and faster: Reiterating details in the health five-year plan.

3 Your children achieving more: Wrapping up promises such as all secondary schools' specialist status.

4 Your children with the best start: Child care, children's centres and out-of-school activities.

5 Your community safer: Labour's law and order pitch.

6 Your country's borders protected: Promises of action on immigration.

As it happens, Fledge, although I doubt this will help you in the slightest, my main voting concerns are pretty much always transport and justice issues. And I have voted in every election of every stripe since I was of age, except for one where I literally couldn't leave the house.

AMumInScotland · 13/05/2009 15:46

And you see, to prove how much we all vary, I'd throw out the Royals as well as all the politicians.

But I still wouldn't vote for a micro-celebrity who can't even be arsed to think up any policies.

Oh and pingping - the difference is that shepherds have lambs, so they make shepherd's pie... and I've heard (actually seen on here) a comment about cottagers and beef, which I'm not going to repeat...

BigBellasBeerBelly · 13/05/2009 15:47

Vinegar the mental image of a door managing to hit a mans cock as he was leaving a room is bizarre. You think OP has some kind of disorder in that area?

Fledge · 13/05/2009 15:48

Hmmm... not quite what I had in mind when I mentioned stakes though... sweep stake means something different...

Anyway, since you mention Vamps... how about this:

The Internet really is still LoTR territory it seems!

Actually maybe Katie could bring a lot to MN - she's got some handy hints for working mums

pingping · 13/05/2009 15:49

Fledge can't be bothered to watch your things haven't got a school run or ironing to do???

Thanks AMIS

notwavingjustironing · 13/05/2009 15:49

No, he hasn't gone away yet has he?

PortoPandemico · 13/05/2009 15:50

And is a big fan of breast feeding

BigBellasBeerBelly · 13/05/2009 15:51

Thanks Porto I now realise who she is.

I saw her on the wright stuff once.

She didn't make much of an impression on me one way or the other, although i seem to remember she was banging on about how fabulous and successful she is.

I may have more to say after I have read her "tips".

Fledge · 13/05/2009 15:51

Oh! And you may just LOVE the song and scenes at the tail-end of episode SIX of this series:

pingping · 13/05/2009 15:54

What do you mean Fledge???? Just like me?

VinegarTits · 13/05/2009 15:54

bbbb maybe i should have said, watch you dont bang your cock on the top of the door frame as you walk out, make sure you duck first fledge

Fledge · 13/05/2009 15:56

PortoPandemico - this thread is not meant to be about her.

It is about what people eat for lunch... or dinner... or breakfast! ;)

Oh! And whether a £1 entry Eurovision sweep-stake is a good idea.

OP posts:
notwavingjustironing · 13/05/2009 15:57

Porto - we even get a mention in that last bit!

"You chose to have a family. If you want to take time off to commit yourself to that family ? marvelous. Give yourself a motherhood medal and sign up with mumsnet. But don?t expect to be in the same league as the women who are grafting their way to the top. Do not expect to have the same pay scale. Do not expect part time to equal full time rights. And do not be surprised if you feel the chill wind of indifference on your return".

That's us told then!!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 13/05/2009 15:57

I had a very tasty beef and mustard sandwich for lunch.

We're having sausage and bean casserole for dinner.

Fledge · 13/05/2009 15:57

pingping - "haven't got a school run or ironing to do??? "

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 13/05/2009 15:59

Porto, woo hoo, she even namecheck Mumsnet in a disparaging way in that Maternity Leave entry.

Deary me.

Makeda · 13/05/2009 15:59

I wonder what women's league I'm in...

pingping · 13/05/2009 15:59

LMFAO VT HA HA HA

OOOO the woman is beyond watless

Fledge what is your point with this thread

VinegarTits · 13/05/2009 16:00

Note to self: I need to buy an onion for my chilli on my way home from the office

Fledge · 13/05/2009 16:00

notwavingjustironing - ooh! now I can see why you'reall seeeeething. I hadn't read that one.

What did mumsnet ever do to her when she was a newbie?

Don't answer that... this thread is not about her... it's about food... and sweep stakes... and books... and avoiding doorframes (someone is too kind with their compliments!)

OP posts:
Makeda · 13/05/2009 16:01

VT that is weirdly similar to a sentence I am attempting to translate

notwavingjustironing · 13/05/2009 16:01

You can go now. We're all very bored with you.

Go and patronise someone else who gives a toss.
