Do you know how much I wish my nan was here to give me 5p?

fruitshootsandheaves · 26/04/2009 21:33

sounds about right. My dad gave my sister £200 and offered me £20

choufleur · 26/04/2009 21:33

has this just occurred to you? five months later

compo · 26/04/2009 21:33

I found out earlier this evening.

She has 3 sons, she gave 2 sons 350k each & 1 son £20, Grand-daughters/sons received £1,000 & myself & my sister (we're obviously the black sheeps ) received £5...

Sorry but i am pmsl at the 'was it because you're a girl'

Yurtgirl · 26/04/2009 21:36

£350,000 each - thats almost 3/4s of a million

I shall persume you are either winding us up or you made a mistake

MuffinBaker · 26/04/2009 21:36

My mum gave me up because I was a girl.

Claire2009 · 26/04/2009 21:37

I'm not after money! Not at all, I just feel it a little unfair to do this...

I'm all for fairness in Children thats all I guess and this is strange to me..

Strawbezza · 26/04/2009 21:37

Are the sons your dad & uncle then? Why not ask them both for an early Christmas present?

compo · 26/04/2009 21:37

well it sounds right that she gives her children money and not her grandchildren
when my grandpa passed over he left my mum 6K, she gave each of us 2k I think

Claire2009 · 26/04/2009 21:37

350,000 each for 2 sons.

OP posts:
Claire2009 · 26/04/2009 21:38

The 2 sons that got 350k each are both my Uncles, who I have very little contact with.

OP posts:
choufleur · 26/04/2009 21:39

are you the daughter of the son who got £20? presumably something has happened with realtionships in the past.

Claire2009 · 26/04/2009 21:39

Does it sound right though to give :

1 son - 350k
2 son - 350k
3 son - £20

1 G'daughter - 1k
2 G'son - 1k
3 me - £5
4 Sis - £5

OP posts:
choufleur · 26/04/2009 21:39

sorry cross posts. do you have much contact with your gran, and does your dad?

Claire2009 · 26/04/2009 21:41

Yep I'm the daughter of the son that got £20

They had an argument 2yrs ago, but are very close now (my Dad & his Mum)..

He is from her 1st marriage (1930's Dad born 1940's) so i think he's always been the black sheep & its gone on to us too.....!?

her money to do what she wants to do with. Suck it up.

Haribosmummy · 26/04/2009 21:42

I think I would have preferred not to have known.

I can't see there is anything you can do about it, but I think it's only natural that you are going to be a bit about it.

I would be if I found out my gran had done something like that. But, then, I'd never get involved in my grandmothers politics. Her money, her choice. But, I'd still prefer not to know!

Claire2009 · 26/04/2009 21:43

Yep dad just back from visiting her for 2wks, she's got a broken wrist so he's been helping her out.
I havent seen her since 2002 due to lots of circumstances (being in France for 5yrs in a trapped/controlling dv r/s for starters) I'm now in the Uk and do plan to see her soon but when she has moved house, she is down grading to somewhere smaller.

I speak with her 1-2 times a week on the phone & send pics every 2-3mths.

Claire2009 · 26/04/2009 21:44

I know its her money, she can do whatever she wants with it! I am just a little at it!
