to think that people who threaten to leave the country because they resent paying more taxes should just bugger off without trying to elicit sympathy form the rest of us?

Oh and, many of those on high salaries earn that much either directly or indirectly because of the deregulation that caused this whole bloody mess in the first place. So to hear them moaning now they're aksed to pay a bit back ... Grrrr.

here here! [raises red flag]

expatinscotland · 23/04/2009 09:14

Yes. I'll be happy to train for your job and do it for far less. It's not exactly rocket science.

Bye! Don't let the leeches get you!

southeastastra · 23/04/2009 09:15

didn't we get rid of phil collins this way?

JustCallMeGoat · 23/04/2009 09:15

expat you will have to ditch the ugly shoes for exect court shoes.

MrsMattie · 23/04/2009 09:18

Totally agree@AllFallDown.

(They were probably Thatcher supporters...so the words 'reap' and 'sow' spring to mind).

MrsMattie · 23/04/2009 09:18

lol!@southeastastra

expatinscotland · 23/04/2009 09:18

I used to do lots of ballet, Goat. Can walk quite well in heels, they just don't do much for my bunions from cramming my feet into pointe shoes and then too-tight climbing slippers.

ShauntheSheep · 23/04/2009 09:20

I'd even help with the leaving party.

(for a large fee of course )

No loss as far as I'm concerend.

ABetaDad · 23/04/2009 09:23

YANBU ... but it was quite along question with a sub clause so I might be a bit YABU as well.

Portofino · 23/04/2009 09:23

Thread about a thread!!

JustCallMeGoat · 23/04/2009 09:23

lol @ phil collins! yes that is the general calibre we are talking about.

AllFallDown · 23/04/2009 09:24

Apols for typos (from a pedant). Was typing quickly and irritatedly.

I thought it was a serious breach of MC etiquette to start a thread moaning about another thread? But I totally agree with you - she can piss off anywhere she likes with her hugely impressive DH, her four brats, her Aga and her Mulberry handbag.

AllFallDown · 23/04/2009 09:27

Apologies for breach of etiquette, too. I pay too little tax to know how decent people behave. I was too busy cheating the Social to learn the rules of proper society.

PMSL @ the phil collins quote.

Any chance of getting rid of Sting and his bloody strange wife this way?

Perhaps the UK should have a Flouncers' Corner for the aggreived wealthy to have their hissy fits in.

wasabipeas · 23/04/2009 09:45

"her four brats"
How very rude and uncalled for

reach4sky · 23/04/2009 09:47

Well you might want to reflect on the fact that 40% of the tax in this country is paid by just 10% of taxpayers.

Ninkynork · 23/04/2009 09:51

YANBU. The poorest section of society, low-earners and pensioners had their tax doubled when they scrapped the 10% tax band and raised it to 20%. As someone on the other thread said, a person earning £200K will pay 5K more. Boo hoo, it's hardly the same thing.

lalalonglegs · 23/04/2009 09:51

And the richest 1% of the population in the UK own 20% of the nation's wealth so I think that the amount of tax they pay is quite low, reach4sky.

AllFallDown · 23/04/2009 09:53

reach4sky ... I'm in that 10%. It's the self-interested hissiness that gets my goat.

Gmarksthespot · 23/04/2009 09:57

What a nasty thread.

frazzledgirl · 23/04/2009 09:57

Agree entirely.

Still struggling to get my head round the concept of giving up your home, your family and your nationality because someone's asked for an extra 2% of an income which is in the top 2%.

That's unpleasant, but then asking for sympathy in these current circs is just sick.

Idranktheeasterspirits · 23/04/2009 10:00

I read the op of the thread this one is about and i didn't see the op asking for sympathy.

This thread is really nasty and seems to be born of jealousy more than considered opinion.

Posting personal insults about another members children is vile.
