To not want to leave my expensive pushchair in baby clinic waiting area.

I don't have a car and live within walking distance of the baby clinic. I use my pushchair to take baby to clinic, it's only small, but was told "they don't allow" pushchairs in the baby clinic and I'd have to leave in the waiting room of the doctors surgery.
I don't want to leave my pushchair in the waiting area as I won't be able to see it and it may get stolen. I also don't want to buy a sling as I won't use it enough to justify.
I didn't go to the clinic that day as I didn't want to risk the pushchair (area is okay, but I worry) or argue my case in front of the other parents who didn't seem to mind.

yes you are.
it is a health ans safety risk to have buggies in the waiting room.

buy a lock for the buggy

StarlightMcEggzie · 15/04/2009 15:05

Buy a cheaper pushchair fgs.

hf128219 · 15/04/2009 15:05

My baby clinic used to have padlocks so you could chain them outside.

RyanAirVeteran · 15/04/2009 15:06

Get over yourself.

The whole point of having a pushchair is to make your life easier.

If you live in a rough area where things get stolen is there really any point buying an expensive pushchair that you're unable to use?

Buy another cheap foldaway one and use that and just keep your expensive one to polish admire

EldonAve · 15/04/2009 15:06

YABU - surely the waiting room of the docs is good enough

Kathyis6incheshigh · 15/04/2009 15:07

A simple bike lock for the buggy. Costs a few £.

ilovetochat · 15/04/2009 15:07

yabu, there isnt room in the clinics for pushchairs, at our clinic we went in 3 at a time and 3 pushchairs would never have fitted in.
take your bag in and leave the pushchair by the room or by the receptionsit if there is 1 nearby or say to the next in line watch that for me please. im pretty sure noone has ever walked away with a buggy from out clinic in quite a bad area.

misdee · 15/04/2009 15:07

i have to leave mine actually outside at the main health clinic

preggersplayspop · 15/04/2009 15:07

YABU

JustCallMeGoat · 15/04/2009 15:08

don't go to the clinic, the safety of your pushchair is much more important.

organicgloop · 15/04/2009 15:08

"get over yourself"
It cost over £300.00 to buy and is quite new, and looks expensive. I wouldn't like to lose it or to have to replace it. I had no idea I would have this problem.

misdee Can you buy locks?

No, you should buy a cheap pushchair for when you go out, and keep your expensive one safe and sound indoors.

misdee · 15/04/2009 15:09

yes, they are the same one used for bikes.

or remove a wheel.

StarlightMcEggzie · 15/04/2009 15:09

LOL JustCallMeGoat

You've cheered me up. Prefer this to the miserable troll thread I've just left!

hf128219 · 15/04/2009 15:10

A simple padlock/bike chain? Use your imagination!

ClapClapClap · 15/04/2009 15:10

YABU I live in a horrible area and noone has ever stolen my pushchair from the doctors surgery.

MrsMattie · 15/04/2009 15:10

Our clinic makes us leave them outside. I ignored them when I first started going there. I'd just had a c-section and needed my buggy, plus even though my buggy was a secondhand cheapo one, I still didn't trust leaving it on the street. Now I abide by the rules, as I am strong enough to sling/carry my baby inside and obviously they can't have dozens of buggies in the building all at the same time, but I do still worry about it getting nicked. I suppose the only answer is to have a buggy lock-up or something? I dunno. YA sort of BU

StarlightMcEggzie · 15/04/2009 15:11

You bought a £300 buggy that you are too scared to use in the way that all other mothers use their buggy?

What did you buy it for? Does it match your outfit?

MrsMattie · 15/04/2009 15:13

Just for the record, a neighbour in my old area had her buggy stolen from the baby clinic and another one taken from her own doorstep. So it does happen.

TotalChaos · 15/04/2009 15:13

I was exactly the same over my cheapo graco buggy, wouldn't have missed the clinic but would not have liked having to abandon the buggy. in hindsight yabu a little but I can sympathise!

theyoungvisiter · 15/04/2009 15:14

You are being very PFB. Buy a bike lock if you that worried.

But in a couple of months when it's encrusted with snot and mashed banana, even the most desperate thief won't look at it

MillyR · 15/04/2009 15:14

Buy a padlock or bike lock - I know someone who had an expenisve buggy stolen.

I didn't bother with clinic with my second child anyway - its mainly for worried new mums. Just make sure you attend the hearing test etc.
