I lurk far more than I post, gnerally because somebody has usually said what I wanted to, so I don't want to just echo it. I have noticed though, that even after a string of helpful replies saying much the same thing, it only takes one "celebrity" MNer to join a thread and parrot the previous posts, albeit in their own style, and then you get a rash of "Oh, good point, CelebrityMNer, fantastic post!" replies. It pisses me off just reading it, so I can only imagine how irritating it must be for the posters who had said much the same thing hours ago.

Does anyone else notice this, or AIBU?

I haven't noticed

mollyroger · 29/03/2009 11:06

It happens. Though I'm not sure about the 'celebrity' MNetter bit....
Sometimes in longer threads, people don't read the whole thread and so a good point made early in in a huge thread will get lost.
Perhaps if you lurked less and posted more, you might become better known?

shabster · 29/03/2009 11:07

you are not being unreasonable - at all!!!

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 29/03/2009 11:07

CelebrityMNer · 29/03/2009 11:07

< spreads arse cheeks >

MadameCastafiore · 29/03/2009 11:08

Ooooohhhhh who are the celebrity mumsnetters?

Not me because no bugger ever agrees with me!

SlebMner · 29/03/2009 11:09

you got there just before me, celebrity !LOL

bubblerock · 29/03/2009 11:09

I haven't noticed it at all recently - it used to happen loads before the A list celebs left.

Nontoxic · 29/03/2009 11:11

YANBU, but it has been said before.
I know I'll never be a sleb MNer as I'm like you - won't waste my time posting if it's already been said - and can't be arsed with a long-drawn out argument, so if I strongly disagree I often don't post.
That's not to criticize those who are willing to pitch in - I'm frequently entertained by spats on here.
Some people do have a distinctive way of putting things which others like. Just like RL I suppose.

I'm a Z list celeb but am quite partial to a bit of rimming

(receiving that is, not giving)

MoanyLisa · 29/03/2009 11:12

I am happy enough to be a wallflower, it would just piss me off if I'd given someone some good advice base on my own heartfelt experience, to have someone rock up and summarize it and then get all the credit! I do notice it quite a lot.

Oh what a mean thread if cod was here she'd sort this out

Nontoxic · 29/03/2009 11:13

See, I just answered the question without coming up with any funnies (dull).

LittlePeanut · 29/03/2009 11:14

Yes, I see it all the time. I think lots of people reply on these threads pretending never to have noticed it, because it's a bit embarrassing to admit that it goes on!

TrillianAstra · 29/03/2009 11:14

If you really have noticed this then call them up about it on the thread, don't just start a thread to moan about it in a generalised way.

2chocolateshoes · 29/03/2009 11:14

yabu
and childish

LittlePeanut · 29/03/2009 11:16

It's the same when a random man wanders on and makes a point. Lots of "ooh you're soooo funny!!" [twirls hair].

Just like real life, really!

BitOfFun · 29/03/2009 11:16

Good post, SlebMNer!

See what I just did there? < nudges >

twinsetandpearls · 29/03/2009 11:16

2chocolateshoes · 29/03/2009 11:16

YANBU

great website, sometimes ruined by posters who believe their own hype

LittlePeanut · 29/03/2009 11:17

Why is the OP being "childish"?
