I lurk far more than I post, gnerally because somebody has usually said what I wanted to, so I don't want to just echo it. I have noticed though, that even after a string of helpful replies saying much the same thing, it only takes one "celebrity" MNer to join a thread and parrot the previous posts, albeit in their own style, and then you get a rash of "Oh, good point, CelebrityMNer, fantastic post!" replies. It pisses me off just reading it, so I can only imagine how irritating it must be for the posters who had said much the same thing hours ago.

Does anyone else notice this, or AIBU?

Pmsl, I have been beaten to this sort of puerile sarcasm already!

TrillianAstra · 29/03/2009 11:18

Who belives their own hype ssd? What hype is this?

MegBusset · 29/03/2009 11:19

I think YABU, actually. It's much more democratic around here than it used to be!

juneybean · 29/03/2009 11:20

I actually saw this happen on a heated debate yesterday so I know what you mean but I sort of just get on with it lol

VinegarTitsTheVirginNun · 29/03/2009 11:21

YANBU it happens a lot

brettgirl2 · 29/03/2009 11:21

YANBU - in terms of hype....

The property threads always amaze me. People always proclaim that period is better than new and wood better than UPVC. Pretty well everyone is in agreement. However, pretty well everyone I know lives in a modern house with UPVC windows .

BitOfFun · 29/03/2009 11:21

Show us the arse licking today then...or would that be bad form?

2chocolateshoes · 29/03/2009 11:21

if people see this, why don't they mention it on the thread.
instead yet another thread slagging people off

Marthasmama · 29/03/2009 11:22

I agree with juneybean, just get on with it. It has happened to me a few times on here but I think heyho. If I got bothered that I was being 'ignored' I'd bugger off! But I don't because I like it here.

BitOfFun · 29/03/2009 11:23

< slurps ravenously at several more posters >

VinegarTitsTheVirginNun · 29/03/2009 11:23

It does happen though, i see it but im not about to say 'oh you arse licker' on a thread, but i think it ALOT

Vingertits - have you been on Nunsnet?

LittlePeanut · 29/03/2009 11:26

Because mentioning it on the actual thread would be very confrontational - and maybe it's not such a big deal that it's worth picking a fight and singling someone out over.

Maybe just a bit annoying generally, so therefore more appropriate to start an AIBU thread.

BitOfFun · 29/03/2009 11:26

Agree, Vinegar, it would bring the tone down and be a bit snippy to raise it on every individual thread. YANBU to have a general whinge to remind people.

Great post, MoanyLisa, and I love your name...there, is that better?

edam · 29/03/2009 11:28

Someone got praised for repeating a point I'd made further down the the thread the other day. Didn't bother me - I just assumed the most recent poster hadn't read every single word with close attention as if she was going to face an examination tomorrow. (And I suppose it suggested the point we'd both made was a good one. )

BitOfFun · 29/03/2009 11:28

Oops- I also agree with LittlePeanut

And Reality...we are truly not worthy!

TrillianAstra · 29/03/2009 11:30

I possibly do that edam, not because of who made the point but because if you are reading a long thread then it's hard to remember who said everything, you just remember that a particular point has been made, and quote whoever jumps out, which could be the first person who said it or could be the person who said it most recently.

VinegarTitsTheVirginNun · 29/03/2009 11:30

Is there a Nunsnet??

bellavita · 29/03/2009 11:30

Yes I does happen. In fact it happened to me yesterday. I said something and someone further down the thread said the same thing and no one mentioned my advice. But hey that's life, just get on with it.

Marthasmama · 29/03/2009 11:31

Here VTTVN!

AitchTwoOh · 29/03/2009 11:32

yes, but you should have said 'actually i think x made the point earlier' On The Thread, really, you can't really moan, lisa, if you won't get involved at the time.

but yes, definitely, sometimes it takes someone to stand up and turn around a debate, and that may be a more confident poster (someone you deem to be a celebrity, clearly as a slight). thing is, we do respond to the people we know to be sensible on here, if i see a post by blu i always sit up and pay attention because experience dictates that she is someone who challenges my opinions.
if you want to be better-known, moany, post more.

BitOfFun · 29/03/2009 11:33
