I lurk far more than I post, gnerally because somebody has usually said what I wanted to, so I don't want to just echo it. I have noticed though, that even after a string of helpful replies saying much the same thing, it only takes one "celebrity" MNer to join a thread and parrot the previous posts, albeit in their own style, and then you get a rash of "Oh, good point, CelebrityMNer, fantastic post!" replies. It pisses me off just reading it, so I can only imagine how irritating it must be for the posters who had said much the same thing hours ago.

Does anyone else notice this, or AIBU?

It's mor eto do with a friendship group. If one mnetter recognises another and feels 'friends' with her, then there is much more likely to be agreement.

It can happen, yes. But it's normal life stuff. Just post a comment back.

cornsilk · 29/03/2009 14:15

You look nice today pointydog.

KimiWantsAnEasterEgg · 29/03/2009 14:22

How about mumsnet royalty then....

FfreckleFface · 29/03/2009 14:31

apostrophe I did

Luckily no one ever notices me as I am the complete opposite of royalty, so my dirtiness will remain a secret.

TrillianAstra · 29/03/2009 14:54

I think a list of 'Mumsnetters I like' vs a list of 'MNers who I think are the celebrities' would be quite different.

Some of the celebs are scary!

KimiWantsAnEasterEgg · 29/03/2009 14:55

I never get on any lists sob sniff

CelebrityMNer · 29/03/2009 14:57

< rubs hands in shit-stirring glee >

Ooh, I love a good list thread, let's do that- they always end well

KimiWantsAnEasterEgg · 29/03/2009 15:01

can I be on your list please, grovel grovel beg beg

KimiWantsAnEasterEgg · 29/03/2009 15:16

I killed it

FfreckleFface · 29/03/2009 16:07

Kimi, you can be on a special list for thread-killers.

pointydog · 29/03/2009 16:30

you look a million dollars, corn

VinegarTitsTheVirginNun · 29/03/2009 16:50

BOF did you see my alternative bumsex thread?

CelebrityMNer · 29/03/2009 16:52

Yes, you are insulting me on it as we speak

VinegarTitsTheVirginNun · 29/03/2009 16:54
Grin
OrmIrian · 29/03/2009 16:57

I don't think its a question of celeb mners. It's just a question of timing. If I start a thread and read 5 or 6 responses, I might take all of it in but will probably respond by name to just a handful, the last few probably.

Threadworm · 29/03/2009 17:00

I haven't noticed this at all. As Hecate (I think) said, everyone has their own friendship group on here and tends to notice more easily the posts made by people they know.

I didn't really even think it was a big deal in the old days. The oldies were one friendship clan and there were others too.

The idea of 'mumsnet royalty' was as much perpetuated by the people who felt themselves to be outsiders as it was by the alleged royalty themselves.

CelebrityMNer · 29/03/2009 17:04

You are so right, Threadie my friend! < slurp slurp >

I find it daunting that there are so many fucking funny women on here. In RL I am very witty but on here I'm such a useless slack jawed yokel. I'll never be famous because I'm too lame!

OrmIrian · 29/03/2009 17:37

marthasmama - there is always a place for useless slack-jawed yokels. Perhaps to tug the forelock when MN royalty drive past

CelebrityMNer · 29/03/2009 17:46

ROFL!! I love that phrase, I must try and work it into a sentence today
