Probably Miss Judgey pants here. But surely if he's capably feeding himself with a spoon, it shouldn't be a crappy jar of baby food! And on a bus while mum talking on her mobile phone!

Guessing he was a bout 20 months as older than my ds but prob not 2. Was a bit shocked at the self feeding on the bus,and crap nature of it....

....flame away.....
I'm ready for it..

Please, I would really like you to answer my question about what the mother in question looked like.

Sassybeast · 23/03/2009 19:33

I have been trying to reply to this thread for ages but Chardonnay and Madrid have been screaming blue murder over a packet of wotsits and a family pack of Iceland nuggets and I couldn't hear meself think. But I think it's awful - imagine the mess if he'd dropped the jar ? That bloody orange dye causes havoc with velour plush seats. Shameful. I think the SFPOCTB (society for prevention of cruelty to buses) should be informed.

"Mum on the phone talking about something else, would make me very "

but why since when did making a phone call in front of a child (eating or not) become a cardinal parenting sin???

Phoenix4725 · 23/03/2009 19:35

hmm maybe said toddler should had used fingers instead

Simplysally · 23/03/2009 19:35

I can't get worked up about it tbh.

Maybe I needed to be there .

debs40 · 23/03/2009 19:35

justneedsomesleep - I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. If you more experienced than I thought, it doesn't show.

YABU. You are being very judgmental and you were expecting lots of nice middle class mummies to agree with you.

Sorry they don't

MsSpentYouth · 23/03/2009 19:35

Oh come off it, i think every MNer is judgey in some way, whether it is about people leaving to MNoldies, ill celebs, Other peoples fashion, how people have got about cvertain situations, people having to go to work when their children arent at their best.

I think that the fact that the OP is being Judgey about lazy parenting isn't a bad thing, she could be getting judgey about alot worse things.

True story: I had to leave McDonalds once when DS1 was about 18 months old because he was having a tantrum, threw his jar of baby food across the table, and it smashed to smithereens. He then proceeded to bag his head on said table .......

DSM · 23/03/2009 19:36

Oh sweet jesus, I use my phone around DS all the time. Often on buses.

Someone better ring Social Services.

Northernlurker · 23/03/2009 19:37

justneedsomesleep - I assumed you only had one child - it was the only thing that offered any possible excuse for your self satisfaction.

sassybeast. I do actually know a Chardonnay....

tomanykidstoname · 23/03/2009 19:37

thank you mintyy i agree, it's the combination of all of it that would bother me too

psychomum5 · 23/03/2009 19:37

bugger, driving is out then for being able to do stuff without be judged upon it....

ok, maybe hiring a limo with blacked out windows so you cannot see the riff-raff darling.............

debs40 · 23/03/2009 19:38

MsSpentYouth Tis true... we are all judgey folk BUT if you ask AIBU, you've got to prepared to hear yes as well as no?

psychomum5 · 23/03/2009 19:38

tomanykidstoname

un-fucking-believable

And, please add another 'o' to your name, unless of course it is intended to be poetic.

screamingabdab · 23/03/2009 19:39

MsSpentYouth I agree with you

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 23/03/2009 19:39

Come on justneedsomesleep

The mum was wearing Burberry/Kappa Slappa/Velour tracksuit/had many earrings/acrylic nails wasn't/didn't she?

A 20 month old isn't a baby and should be capable of feeding itself (barring SN/disability etc).

DD2 has been known to eat Quavers whilst out 'n' about - now that is ofensive to see and deserves to be complained about - the way she sucks them........

Phoenix4725 · 23/03/2009 19:39

hmm better hope not sat near me and my dc on bus ,mind mightofffer crisp if feeling generours while im on phone checking if tescos got any chicken nuggets

Ronaldinhio · 23/03/2009 19:39

I used to be very well acquainted with any number of Chardonnays

I've moved on now to some lovely girls called Viognier

I'm still struggling to see what is "lazy" about the parenting that she's described - child was fed (and presumably content), mum was making a phone call (don't we all???), ok they were on a bus - but they obviously had to get from A to B...........
