to be shocked at 20 month old sitting in a pram feeding himself a jar of baby food on a bus?

Probably Miss Judgey pants here. But surely if he's capably feeding himself with a spoon, it shouldn't be a crappy jar of baby food! And on a bus while mum talking on her mobile phone!

Guessing he was a bout 20 months as older than my ds but prob not 2. Was a bit shocked at the self feeding on the bus,and crap nature of it....

....flame away.....
I'm ready for it..

What a clever child! If he was mine I'd want to show off his skills too. And perhaps the crappy baby food was to forestall comments about competitive/pushy parenting. At home he eats quails eggs and organic hummous.

tomanykidstoname · 23/03/2009 19:51

my friend joined today and it gave her choices too maybe the names you chose just werent taken!

OrmIrian · 23/03/2009 19:51

Agree Riven, its lighthearted banter, and fairly tongue in cheek.

I find it too laughable that people think allowing a child to [gasp] eat a jar of baby food on a bus, without staring at them the entire way through is somehow bad parenting, so can't possibly take this seriously anyway.

for your DD, hope she gets better soon.

BocciBalls · 23/03/2009 19:53

the very important question which I think hasn't yet been answered is -

WHAT was the brand of jar in question?

Please OP let us know. It will make a different to my level of judging.

DSM · 23/03/2009 19:53

Actually, the name I wanted when I first joined was taken, and I was merely told that the name was taken, please try again.

I don't think you are offered choices.

psychomum5 · 23/03/2009 19:53

riven, will go see SN.

thinking of you tonight. I have had to leave mine in hospital before, and it is a horrible feeling.

BocciBalls · 23/03/2009 19:53

difference

psychomum5 · 23/03/2009 19:55

I was clearly lucky when I joined.

it allowed my name, without offering choices

Phoenix4725 · 23/03/2009 19:55

first time i posted on Aibu and whole lot has made me giggle

DSM · 23/03/2009 19:55

Oh, and shall add - that if my original choice of name was taken, and the alternative they offered me was that of an incorrect spelling, I would be fast to decline it.

I would think I should go so far as to email MNHQ about that as well.

I find it very interesting that the OP has refused to answer the question about what the mother looked like.

I think we all know the answer to that though, her silence speaks volumes.

TooManyKidsToName · 23/03/2009 19:56

Try now, it still doesn't offer an option.

beforesunrise · 23/03/2009 19:56

OP- i hope it's only the sleep deprivation that makes you so smug and sanctimonious. get off your soapbox, and save your outrage for things that are really outrageous.

TooManyKidsToName · 23/03/2009 19:58

She obviously didn't try it, it was still free, i have just this second namechanged to this, it was available up until now!

Northernlurker · 23/03/2009 19:58

I notice the op is resolutely refusing to describe the 'offender'. I can't imagine why?

DSM · 23/03/2009 19:59

Ha ha ha, well I just tried it and it did not offer me any 'suggestions'.

It said 'The nickname you have entered is already taken. Please try another.'

NorthernLurker - exactly.

Mintyy · 23/03/2009 20:04

I have to say this treatment of tomanykidstoname is unedifying. She agrees with the op and has made a spelling mistake in her chat name and, possibly embarrassed about it or not realising what she has done, has made up an excuse for that. She also uses textspeak without realising that its not the norm on Mumsnet.

Is the sneering and hectoring and sarcasm really justified?
