To be scared to meet MNers in real life?

Longtime lurked here who seldom posts as you all seem much wittier and wiser than me!

I notice that there are meet ups between MNers regularly. My question is, are the ones you have met really as dazzling in their charm or pithy in their wit as they would have you believe? Or (gulp) even more so?

Of course, if they are crashingly dull feel free to say so, haha. Personally I would be quite scared to meet some...too good to be true, or maybe intimidating. What are your experiences, and AIBU?

I have been to 2 Xmas meet ups and have met 2 MNers. The Big meets were very scary and I won't be going again, but meeting the other two was great! Poor MNer I met recently can't get shot of me

wotulookinat · 12/03/2009 19:53

I hold the same "paranoid" view on this as Bohemian Bint

Prefer to keep my rl friends in rl and my net friends on the net

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 12/03/2009 20:00

I found out today that a lady I go to a toddler group with is a MNer. We didn't ask/tell each other our MN names though!

wotulookinat · 12/03/2009 20:01

how did you find out, Iwish?
I think MN should provide badges for us to wear.

ToiletRollCover · 12/03/2009 20:06

I wouldn't mind people knowing I was a mumsnetter!!! Not sure about letting my posting name slip though! Posts revealing my lack of taste would bite me on the bum I'm sure!!!!

bellavita · 12/03/2009 20:06

Divamakes - might see you at this years Manchester do if there is one. I could not go to last years as we took the boys to a concert in Manchester the week before so was a bit low on spends.
