To be scared to meet MNers in real life?

Longtime lurked here who seldom posts as you all seem much wittier and wiser than me!

I notice that there are meet ups between MNers regularly. My question is, are the ones you have met really as dazzling in their charm or pithy in their wit as they would have you believe? Or (gulp) even more so?

Of course, if they are crashingly dull feel free to say so, haha. Personally I would be quite scared to meet some...too good to be true, or maybe intimidating. What are your experiences, and AIBU?

I can confirm that the lovely squonk is just as squonkalicous in rl as she is on here. We are both hoping that kathyis6incheshigh will come over for a coffee next time we get together..

I'd be scared if I went to a local one I might actually know some of the people there in RL, who would then be able to relate my posts to me, and would know allsorts...

That's a fairly paranoid way of looking at it I suppose, but would be just my luck.

I'm meeting the lovely bitoffun on Sunday after failing to meet her last Saturday (which would have been on my home turf at least)

Liked most of 'em.

Only taken out three restraining orders so far.
